<openbala> so, let me start with how a devcamp is organized and side by side tell where we'll need volunteers

<openbala> when people enter the venue, they should know some basics about a devcamp style event.

<openbala> mostly to - where are the session halls, how to connect to wifi, timing details, etc etc...

<openbala> ya.. for that we need volunteers to come in early. so that they know the answers - like where is food counter, rest room, wifi, what is devcamp, what sessions are happening etc etc

<openbala> ok... the other would be pulling people for sessions who are lost.

<openbala> so for e.g. 3 parallel sessions might be going on.. but some people may just walk around aimlessly...

<openbala> we can request them to attend a session or at least inform them that there is a session happening etc etc.

<openbala> and 3rd one is active participation. we don't want to behave like we are 'police-ing' over others. we are just guiding them...

<openbala> this might sound confusing, but we might have to be active in sessions. ask questions.

<openbala> usually, in any sessions.. only if one person asks a question, others will ask. till that point, everyone will be very quiet

<openbala> i want the session to be interactive, like a group discussion. we want to encourage people to speak....

<openbala> so No3: engaging people to be more interactive in sessions

<openbala> i want all the people who come to devcamp to talk to at least 50% of the attendees... if they won't do it, we'll talk to them voluntarily and engage them in a thoughtful conversation.

<openbala> there are very interesting people who are coming to devcamp. people who have started their own companies, from yahoo, opera, thoughtworks, amazon.. talk to them, get some insight.. and by seeing a conversation going, more people will join and contribute

<openbala> one thing that im afraid is for the tshirt distribution.

<openbala> if you announce that there is some thing given for free... there is almost total madness

<openbala> and i don't want to give away the tshirts at the start itself, because people might immediately leave, and i don't want to give it at the end because, some people might want to leave a bit early..

<openbala> so we need to distribute these freebies.. around 3 or so

<openbala> and somehow no person should stand in the line twice.. that will be a challenge... we don't mind giving 2 tshirts for one person, if it is not good to.. you know cheat and stuff.

<magesh> we can have some volunteers on the registration desk, where they take note of the attendee and distribute freebies (tshirt)

<openbala> i wanted distributed, just to manage the crowd. but it is a valid point that we cannot manage the people trying to get 2 tshirts if we give it in multiple places
