Hi Kye,
Thanks for your email AND your assessment!!! I had a feeling you were having a tough time in the relationship department. These are experiences we all have to go through. You have to understand pain to understand joy and while it may be all consuming at the moment, you will come out the other end a stronger person. That’s how life works.
It’s been a pleasure having you in my English class over the last 2 years. While you REALLY need to get a handle on your organisational skills, I think you are an insightful, intelligent and thoughtful bloke and have complete faith you’re going to go far in this life.
I thought you might like the following quote from Nelson Mandela as I think it applies to you and where I think you need to be:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be? There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you. When we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Have a good rest and I look forward to (hopefully) teaching you next year.
Cheers
Mr *****
