[2011-03-03 13::32:41] Doink: At first, it seems much like the previous sketchbook—practice sketches, mostly, of people and objects of various sorts.
[2011-03-03 13::34:12] Doink: However, it is not long before the sketches start to take on a... darker cast. It's still her style, but some of its qualities seem to have changed. Lines are thicker, shadows are darker, and her formally realistic style begins to take on a more surreal bent.

[2011-03-03 13::39:18] Doink: From there, the images get increasingly stranger—dark hallways filled with shadows that seem to grow out from behind objects; libraries full of books that seem to go on and on forever; a full-page sketch, painstakingly rendered, of a concert hall filled with people, the stage completely empty.
[2011-03-03 13::41:40] Doink: And, on the final page, a simple symbol, drawn prominently in the middle of a page: a circle, with three hooked shapes extending from it. You've seen if before—scrawled across the front door of your dorm.
[2011-03-03 13::42:52] Doink: "Well, that's a relief," a familiar voice says from somewhere nearby. "I was beginning to think you weren't going to look at it after all."
[2011-03-03 13::43:36] Henri_DEllaine: nearly jumps out of his chair, looking around to where the voice came from.
[2011-03-03 13::49:11] Doink: Jeanne Yvain, it seems, is seated on the edge of your bed. Her clothing has changed since the last time you saw her, the plugsuit exchanged for a rather archaic looking yellow summer dress. She gives you a friendly smile. "Hello, Henri."
[2011-03-03 13::50:25] Henri_DEllaine: His brow furrows. "Come to toy with me more?"
[2011-03-03 13::53:44] Doink: "Now why would I want to do that? I just thought you might have some questions, what with everything that's happened recently."

[2011-03-03 13::58:32] Doink: She shakes her head. "You've got this all wrong, Henri. I didn't... well, no, that's not right either, is it? Hmm...."

[2011-03-03 14::00:10] Doink: "'I' didn't do anything to 'her.' Because there is no 'I' or 'her.' I /am/ Jeanne. Just... not quite the same Jeanne I was before, I guess."
[2011-03-03 14::01:59] Doink: "The 'why' is because Hastur needs a herald. It had one before—you know, Cassilda?—but she wasn't really all that useful. So It left her, and came to me."

[2011-03-03 14::07:58] Doink: "Willingly?" She chuckles. "I'm afraid I've learned that a single human will means very little in the cosmic scheme of things."

[2011-03-03 14::16:36] Doink: "Oh, come on, Henri. I'm its herald, I'd be working against myself if I just told you these things." He smile turns coy. "Unless, of course, you wanted to join us. Then I could tell you whatever you want to know."
[2011-03-03 14::18:43] Henri_DEllaine: "You'll have to try a lot harder than that; I'm in the business of not letting the world end. If you want someone who will cave to any offer of a little more personal power, Ruru is upstairs."
[2011-03-03 14::22:15] Doink: Jeanne frowns. "I'm not interested in Ruru," she replies, after a moment. "It might still be, I suppose, but..."
[2011-03-03 14::22:54] Doink: She sighs. "You know, It really wanted one of you. That was the whole reason for making Cassilda herald. I was just the next best thing."
[2011-03-03 14::23:38] Doink: "Luckily, I ended up being better at this than It expected."
[2011-03-03 14::25:42] Henri_DEllaine: "What, because we caught on so quickly to the deception? Did he think that, because I had feelings for Jeanne, I would just roll over and submit?" Better at this than expected? What does she mean. How much of the threat is her and how much is that thing...

There is a monster in front of you, Henri, you can't let it do anything to the others. His hand clasps around the pen. His weight shifts forward. He thrusts the nib at the girl in front of him.
[2011-03-03 14::33:48] Doink: The nib, along with your arm, passes right through her. It's as if she's not even there.
[2011-03-03 14::34:52] Henri_DEllaine: The pen hits the wall, breaks. He quickly recovers and hops backwards, away from the bed. "How could I be so stupid..."

[2011-03-03 14::38:21] Doink: She looks up at you, a sad look in her eyes. "Is there no way to convince you that I /am/ Jeanne? I only left that Sign for you to find so I could talk to you again, you know. Hastur's given up on you and the rest already, but I thought I would try anyways..."
[2011-03-03 14::42:55] Henri_DEllaine: "You want to convince me that Jeanne is really still alive somewhere in there? Betray him. Do everything you can to keep him from what he wants. Help us. Prove to me you aren't just him masquerading in Jeanne's body." He wants her to really be her. To be alive. But, there are bigger things than his wants."
[2011-03-03 14::46:50] Doink: Jeanne sighs, and climbs to her feet. "You don't ask for much, do you?" She smiles at you, but her eyes are still as sad as before. "As I said, one human will means very little in the cosmic scheme of things."
[2011-03-03 14::47:32] Doink: She watches your face for a moment longer, then turns towards the window. Outside, you can see the twinkling lights of a faraway city that wasn't there a moment ago.
[2011-03-03 14::48:39] Doink: "NERV is going to fall, Henri. From outside or from within, it doesn't matter. You will lose, and this world will end, one way or another."
[2011-03-03 14::49:27] Henri_DEllaine: "And the cosmic scheme of things means very little to one human will. And, from what it seems, just how much a human's will is worth is transient.. We'll defend this place. We will. And if the world ends, it'll end on our terms."
[2011-03-03 14::51:19] Doink: She lets out one last chuckle. "Maybe. But when that happens, will you be another mindless servant? Or will you be a King?"

[2011-03-03 15::08:15] Doink: Life, as it seems to do, has returned to some semblance of normalcy again. Miskatonic once again re-opened for classes a week or so ago, and, like any other student, you must attend.
[2011-03-03 15::08:50] Doink: Today, at least, has one break from the ordinary: A message from an unknown number has appeared on your cell phone, Ruru. It reads:
[2011-03-03 15::09:33] Doink: "Have a business proposition for you. If interested, visit my office after class. R.R."
[2011-03-03 15::10:45] Ruru_Fields: has been absolutely rabid in her efforts and attendance, nearly spreading herself thin amongst the student body to keep image and apppearance high for the occupants of Ward Hall, lots of little things but nothing important. This, however, is quite the offer so she waits through class with due dilligance and then heads down to the library at the appointed time.
[2011-03-03 15::18:01] Doink: Louis Wilde's "office" is just as you remember it, a small hidden hollow behind a little-used bookcase of reference books. The small, pale boy sits propped up behind his massive desk, hard at work at... whatever it is he works on back there.
[2011-03-03 15::18:26] Doink: He glances up when you enter. "Ah, Miss Fields. Sit, I will be with you in a moment."
[2011-03-03 15::19:29] Ruru_Fields: gives a nod of her head with a fo-like smile and sits quietly where indicated and awaits patiently.
[2011-03-03 15::21:22] Doink: He hits a final key with a satisfied smile and finally looks up at you. "Well. I shall make this as quick as possible."
[2011-03-03 15::22:30] Doink: "How aware are you of the media situation outside of Arkham? I would imagine that NERV is not very forthcoming about that sort of thing, and the media controls in the Zone here prevent most people in this area from learning much of note."
[2011-03-03 15::24:36] Ruru_Fields: "I haven't been extending myself to learn of the view of the world. It's difficult enough for me to manage all the factors I have on the home front. What's going on?"
[2011-03-03 15::30:40] Doink: "Well. NERV, recently, has been very much the media scapegoat. Since the UN began deliberation on increasing NERV's jurisdiction outside of Arkham, they've come under intense political attack. Although it seems that the resolution is likely to pass regardless."
[2011-03-03 15::31:32] Doink: "On the non-political front, however, there's been an increasingly loud uproar against... well, against you and your fellows, Miss Fields."
[2011-03-03 15::32:15] Doink: "There are those who are fighting to have you removed from NERV's care, claiming that you are being brainwashed as child soldiers, or suffering from stockholm syndrome, or a whole other list of imagined abuses."
[2011-03-03 15::32:57] Ruru_Fields: "So the UN is openly goading a reaction by not listening and setting NERV up for a fall... That's an insipid claim. I'd like to refute them with personal experiance."
[2011-03-03 15::34:51] Doink: He gives a dismissive wave. "The UN is a farce anyways. They only exist to rubber-stamp anything with NERV's name on it, or to uphold the personal power of select individuals. They're more a scapegoat than NERV will ever be."
[2011-03-03 15::35:18] Doink: "No, it is the latter case where I would like to commission your assistance."
[2011-03-03 15::37:50] Doink: "I have been contacted by a certain individual who would like to... alter the public's opinion somewhat on the matter of allowing children such as yourself to pilot, and in doing so redeem his own reputation."
[2011-03-03 15::38:46] Ruru_Fields: "This sounds reasonable and suits my own personal goals in the same breath, nevertheless, favors are favors. What are the perameters?"
[2011-03-03 15::42:17] Doink: Wilde: "All I require is an 'inside scoop,' so to speak. Documentation which describes the typical treatment of pilots under NERV's care. Something official would be sufficient: copies of some... training reports, or psychological evaluations, or something of the sort. Nothing specifically classified, of course. Just something to prove that NERV's methods of care are not somehow cruel or unusual."
[2011-03-03 15::42:54] Doink: "You could, of course, give a personal account, but I fear that your handlers would not appreciate your name appearing in outside publications."
[2011-03-03 15::44:22] Ruru_Fields: "Shouldn't be difficult to obtain and yes, going off-message would not be appreciated by the PR department. We would need to be able to redact these reports somewhat, of us one is a little... unstable let us say. Would all the pilots -1 suffice?"
[2011-03-03 15::46:05] Doink: He nods. "Incomplete reports will do. It is against my and my client's best interest to leak any unnecessary information, and the media will accept somewhat incomplete documents delivered to them in the proper manner."
[2011-03-03 15::47:12] Ruru_Fields: "Got it. And my side of this business venture's reward?"
[2011-03-03 15::48:11] Doink: "As you know, I do not conduct business in currency. If you succeed in procuring what I require, I will note down what I owe you and repay you whenever you yourself are in need of my services."
[2011-03-03 15::50:02] Ruru_Fields: "Fair enough, I'll have more use of you in the future I assume." She stands and extends her hand. "We'll conclude business as quickly as possible with minimal fuss."
[2011-03-03 15::53:40] Doink: He looks down at your hand for a moment, frowning. After an awkward moment he takes it, shakes it once weakly, then quickly withdraws his hand. "I find that to be the best way to handle most things in life. I shall be here when you acquire the necessary documents, or if you need any additional information. Although that will... deduct from your account, metaphorically speaking."
[2011-03-03 15::54:32] Ruru_Fields: makes sure the handshake isn't painful but doesn't limp fish it either.
[2011-03-03 15::54:50] Ruru_Fields: "I have this well covered on my end."
[2011-03-03 15::56:09] Doink: "Excellent. Then I will assure my client that he will have his documents soon enough. Good day, Miss Fields."

[2011-03-03 17::20:17] Doink: No matter how many horrific things the pilots of NERV must participate in, some things always seem to stay the same. Like class, and how utterly boring it so often is.
[2011-03-03 17::21:41] Doink: It's a school day, much like any other. Besides one conspicuously empty seat, the class is just as it always is. At the moment, Mrs. Church is lecturing, droning on about whatever the subject of the day is supposed to be.
[2011-03-03 17::23:07] Doink: Until, of course, she stops, frowning at something behind her podium.
[2011-03-03 17::23:50] Doink: "...Excuse me for a moment, class. I'll be right back." Rather abruptly, she exits the classroom, leaving the assembled students to whisper in hushed tones.
[2011-03-03 17::24:43] Henri_DEllaine: glances over at the empty seat for a moment.
[2011-03-03 17::24:57] Mia_al-Misiri: wasn't paying attention. She looks around after several moments, eventually noticing the class volume increase, with slight panic.
[2011-03-03 17::25:07] Mia_al-Misiri: "Where did the teacher go?!"
[2011-03-03 17::25:45] Henri_DEllaine: "Something called her away... I mean, we could just check the podium, I guess."
[2011-03-03 17::26:59] Mia_al-Misiri: continues looking somewhat worried. This was not planned for!
[2011-03-03 17::27:09] Kazimir_Prochazka: shoots Henri a glance. "Then let's go."

[2011-03-03 17::27:50] Henri_DEllaine: shrugs and follows suit. They fight aliens, for god's sake, what's getting caught out of their seats durring class.
[2011-03-03 17::27:53] Albert_Danforth: is sitting behind pilots, watching Mia. Seing her being worried and paniced worries him too, but if he will show too much concern, there will be a lot of mocking and gossips! Or so he thinks.
[2011-03-03 17::29:31] Ruru_Fields: rests her head on her hand as she watches all of this.
[2011-03-03 17::30:03] John_Kilanger: is reading a book while he waits for the teacher to come back.
[2011-03-03 17::30:12] Doink: The back of the podium has only a stack of papers and a large touch-screen that the teacher uses to manipulate the projector. It looks like she locked the display behind her, though. There's nothing but a password prompt displaying on it now.
[2011-03-03 17::30:48] Kazimir_Prochazka: bends down and looks at the prompt and sighs. "Ten bucks it was something having to do with us."
[2011-03-03 17::31:11] Henri_DEllaine: "I don't know, you'd figure we would have gotten a text from Dmitriy or something."
[2011-03-03 17::32:39] Kazimir_Prochazka: "But you also figure they would have told us about monstrous aliens and our little Evas being...meatier than we thought. Conspiracy theorist says the teacher is someone on NERV's payroll psychologically evaluating us."
[2011-03-03 17::33:19] Kazimir_Prochazka: taps the prompt, preparing to try and bypass it. "The realist however thinks it could've been something stupid. School stuff. So what do we have to lose beyond our lunch period due to detention."
[2011-03-03 17::34:20] Henri_DEllaine: He chuckles. "Detention. How is that even supposed to sound bad anymore."
[2011-03-03 17::34:27] Doink: It's surprisingly secure. Like, military-grade.
[2011-03-03 17::34:53] Kazimir_Prochazka: "It's not. Stupid thing..."
[2011-03-03 17::35:25] Doink: Much of the rest of the class is now watching you.
[2011-03-03 17::36:00] Ruru_Fields: facepalms massively. Why do I have to put up with this inelegant... she groans inwardly.
[2011-03-03 17::36:12] Albert_Danforth: is watching you too. Actually, he even asks a question - "Hey, guys, what are you doing there?"
[2011-03-03 17::36:20] Doink: It's not flawless, though. Mrs. Church didn't lock it completely, it seems.
[2011-03-03 17::36:40] Henri_DEllaine: just looks back at the class, unentertained. "Finding out why Mrs. Church got called away."
[2011-03-03 17::36:49] Doink: A screen appears, showing basic controls for the projector, as well as the current lesson plan and grade book.
[2011-03-03 17::37:11] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Or maybe I just really want to know how well I did on the last test."
[2011-03-03 17::37:37] Doink: There are two strange aspects, though: An open log containing the names of all five pilots, and a flashing red message at the top which says "PRIORITY ALERT—SECURITY COMPROMISED."
[2011-03-03 17::37:57] Kazimir_Prochazka: nudges Henri and gestures to the screen.
[2011-03-03 17::38:07] Kazimir_Prochazka: "It seems that we're insecure."
[2011-03-03 17::38:32] Henri_DEllaine: leans in. Now in a whisper "Well, fuck. Can you bring anything else up?"
[2011-03-03 17::38:45] Doink: As if on cue, there is a knock at the classroom door.
[2011-03-03 17::38:59] Kazimir_Prochazka: quickly exits everything and begins walking towards the door.
[2011-03-03 17::39:28] Ruru_Fields: stands and gets ready to leave, fixing her hair with her fishnet clad hand.
[2011-03-03 17::39:38] Henri_DEllaine: Still hushed. "Don't open it. If they need to get in, why would they knock?"
[2011-03-03 17::39:46] Kazimir_Prochazka: "No idea?"
[2011-03-03 17::39:53] Mia_al-Misiri: remains seated and has no idea what is happening
[2011-03-03 17::40:09] Ruru_Fields: "Ask who it is."
[2011-03-03 17::40:25] John_Kilanger: still has his book open, but is now looking at the door.
[2011-03-03 17::40:30] Albert_Danforth: is watching two pilots acting suspiciously, and begins to feel really nervous. Something is wrong.
[2011-03-03 17::40:53] Henri_DEllaine: gives Albert a look and nods towards Mia.
[2011-03-03 17::41:08] Doink: The class's mururing raises in volume. "What's going on?" Is someone going to get the door?" "Why is everyone standing?"
[2011-03-03 17::41:34] Henri_DEllaine: "Who is it?"
[2011-03-03 17::43:05] Kazimir_Prochazka: opens the door.
[2011-03-03 17::44:01] Albert_Danforth: stands up and comes near Mia - as if he just wants to see who is behind the door. Well, he actually wants now.
[2011-03-03 17::44:13] Doink: Standing just outside is just another student—Nathan Fisher, to be exact.
[2011-03-03 17::44:25] Mia_al-Misiri: is kind of panicing! She worries at Albert.
[2011-03-03 17::44:30] Doink: He clears his throat. "Um, I h-have a message for your class?"
[2011-03-03 17::44:30] Mia_al-Misiri: "What is it? What is happening!"
[2011-03-03 17::44:47] Henri_DEllaine: quickly approaches Fisher, practically wedging himself past Kaz. "What?"
[2011-03-03 17::45:07] Albert_Danforth: "Nothing much, Mia! People are just bored of class and walk and talk around. I think so."
[2011-03-03 17::45:12] John_Kilanger: puts his book away and walks towards the door
[2011-03-03 17::45:20] Doink: Fisher frowns. "If I could c-come in and tell everyone?"
[2011-03-03 17::45:20] Kazimir_Prochazka: looks blankly at Nathan for a few moments before Henri pushes him aside...he expected a spook with a NERV badge.

[2011-03-03 17::45:38] Kazimir_Prochazka: shrugs and begins walking back to his seat, shooting his other classmates disapproving glares for staring too long.

[2011-03-03 19::11:16] Henri_DEllaine: ducks in behind Mia and Albert, trying to get a good view of the library.

We'de better hide deep inside the library."

[2011-03-03 19::18:51] John_Kilanger: puchses a few bookshelves over to the door and pushes it over. The books falling out in desheveled patterns and making a mess on the floor. "Sorry."

[2011-03-03 19::19:58] Kazimir_Prochazka: keeps an eye towards the other two enterances. “I say we barricade any other enterances, but keep an eye on that second floor enterance like a hawk.”
[2011-03-03 19::20:27] Kazimir_Prochazka: straightens up in confusion: “I thought...we weren’t going to the second...ACH! Where are we sticking this out?!”
[2011-03-03 19::22:36] John_Kilanger: "Just start barricading entrances. We don't have time to iron out the specifics."

[2011-03-03 19::24:12] Kazimir_Prochazka: “We hold the high ground, figuratively speaking. Let’s barricade the enterances here and keep our eyes on that second floor doorway. If help doesn’t come fast enough, we move.”
[2011-03-03 19::25:03] Kazimir_Prochazka: taps his radiopiece: “This is Pilot 04, we’ve reached a semi-defendable location. Anymore intel on the enemy or our extraction?”
[2011-03-03 19::25:55] Henri_DEllaine: looks for anything he can use to fortify the banisters more.
[2011-03-03 19::26:20] Albert_Danforth: helps to bring down shelves and other things that can be used for barricades.

[2011-03-03 19::40:59] Doink: Standing in the doorframe is a horrific figure, a tall, hulking brute, only barely humanoid, its skin green and mottled, its arms like clubs that terminate in webbed claws. It has no hair, but its face is still vaguely human, slitted nostrils above needle-like teeth. Which are currently bared right at you.

[2011-03-03 19::43:13] John_Kilanger: slowly gets up, and whips out his knife. "What the hell is this thing?"

He is not ready to it, he can't even believe what he sees, he thinks that he is going to collapse on the floor, sobbing with closed eyes... but Mia is near him and he needs to protect her. So he continues doing the only thing he can.

[2011-03-03 19::50:10] Doink: Uncaring of your conversation, the creature lets out a hiss and bolts forwards towards Kaz.

[2011-03-03 19::53:31] Kazimir_Prochazka: lets his rifle hang in his arms, keeping his eyes on the creature before finally diving out of the way of it’s primative charge.
[2011-03-03 19::53:39] Mia_al-Misiri: curls up into a ball
[2011-03-03 19::53:48] Kazimir_Prochazka: “I don’t think it likes me!”
[2011-03-03 19::58:34] Albert_Danforth: stands before Mia, all pale and shaken but ready to do anything to protect her.
[2011-03-03 19::58:50] Kazimir_Prochazka: without even getting up from the ground fires a burst of full-auto from the floor into the creature, lightly hitting a few parts of it before he picks himself up.
[2011-03-03 19::58:54] Mia_al-Misiri: doesn't want to know what is going on any more
[2011-03-03 19::59:18] Doink: The bullets impact the creature solidly, tearing off small chunks of green flesh. But it doesn't seem to slow it down.
[2011-03-03 20::04:26] Doink: The comm crackles. "Fifth pilot secured."
[2011-03-03 20::05:22] Doink: Radio: "He—God damnit, follow her! Second floor! Go!"
[2011-03-03 20::05:52] Kazimir_Prochazka: speaks into the comms: “Give Ruru our regards. Still engaging ugly, third floor.”
[2011-03-03 20::08:18] Henri_DEllaine: With a scream, Henri charges forward. He plunges the knife deep into the beast.
[2011-03-03 20::14:01] Doink: It sinks in to the creature's flesh, tearing a chunk of grey meat off. It lets out a pained hiss.
[2011-03-03 20::17:33] Doink: You can hear gunfire from outside.
[2011-03-03 20::17:54] Kazimir_Prochazka: “Looks like our knights in shining armor are here. Let’s wrap this up you two!”
[2011-03-03 20::23:43] John_Kilanger: John begins to charge at the creature"Goddamnit, I'm your target, ME!" He stabs his knife as hard as he can into creatures think hide.

[2011-03-03 20::25:00] Doink: The blade pierces its chest. Must be in a vital place, because it lets out a low, hissing scream, thrashing around.
[2011-03-03 20::25:19] Doink: Then—"GET CLEAR!" An amplified shout comes from the door.
[2011-03-03 20::25:40] John_Kilanger: jumps out of the way when he hears the warning
[2011-03-03 20::25:46] Kazimir_Prochazka: lets out a sigh.
[2011-03-03 20::25:49] Kazimir_Prochazka: “Nearly got two.”
[2011-03-03 20::25:51] Henri_DEllaine: jumps backwards, nearly falling to the floor.
[2011-03-03 20::26:48] Doink: There's a burst of gunfire, and the creature slumps to the ground, lacking a head. Or most of a torso.
[2011-03-03 20::27:18] Mia_al-Misiri: puts her hands on her ears for the second rattle of gunfire.
[2011-03-03 20::27:38] Mia_al-Misiri: keeps them there, eyes tightly closed, knees to her chest, lying on the floor.
[2011-03-03 20::27:58] Doink: A black-suited figure steps around the door. There's a section 2 emblem on his chestplate, but you've never seen an agent in full body armor like this before. He lowers his rifle, an odd-looking oversized thing attached to his backpack unit.
[2011-03-03 20::28:18] Doink: "Target neutralized," he says, his voice filtered through his facemask's rebreather. "Pilots secured."
[2011-03-03 20::28:21] Kazimir_Prochazka: gives a salute-like gesture, still holding his rifle.
[2011-03-03 20::28:50] Kazimir_Prochazka: “Indeed. I wanted to mount it’s head when we were done though.”
[2011-03-03 20::28:58] Albert_Danforth: is still standing, his ears ringing from gunfire and knees shaking. And then he sees an armoured man and finally collapses on his knees, trying to calm Mia with a gentle touch. "It's over, Mia, it's over!
[2011-03-03 20::29:19] John_Kilanger: slowly begins to get up from the ground. The damage the creature did to him earlier is begining to take it's toll.
[2011-03-03 20::29:38] Mia_al-Misiri: shakes her head and stays there.

[2011-03-03 20::30:23] Doink: Another few agents file into the room, in identical suits. The man in front opens a part of his visor, showing his face. He nods. "You kids did alright. We'll head out in a moment after we've got the whole building secured."
[2011-03-03 20::30:36] Mia_al-Misiri: shakes her head, faster this time.
[2011-03-03 20::30:41] Mia_al-Misiri: "No. No no."
[2011-03-03 20::31:03] Henri_DEllaine: "It's ok, we can sit here and wait a while."
