Brothers and Sisters,

The Upright Man has always stood in the shadows, cloaked in the blackness of night from friend and foe alike. For countless years, my predecessors hid from all save the Nightmaster and the Daymaster. The burden of that tradition has been placed on my shoulders, the mandate of silence and the need to obfuscate driving my every action. Is there any doubt, then, that it has been hard to see my hand guiding and shaping the guild? Is there any question as to why it’s been difficult to see me getting things done, when my entire purpose has been focused on making sure none know my name or my actions? I ask these questions rhetorically, because I speak of the past. Families and guilds have many things in common, but their greatest shared trait is the way both grow and change with time.

 

In past months, my tireless efforts on behalf of the guild have been hard to spot, it’s true. With considerable effort, I have avoided the harsh glare of the spotlight, toiling behind the scenes and pinning my efforts to the Masters. That will no longer be the case; the tradition of silence is broken.  As part of my pledge to be more visible, more transparent, I have decided to speak on the guild channel, to write directly to the guild. I will issue missives with updates, pen papers on our future, and directly connect with each and every one of you that the guild might grow ever stronger. No longer will our Family be Fatherless, led by a presence that is felt but not seen. The time has come for a new direction, and my efforts on your behalf will be made plain to see.
