semi-post apocalypse world, where all of the characters are generally fighting something, be it other characters or mutant creatures or giant robots or something, generally to get parts or fuel to eke out a living

thing is, mankind went extinct so long ago that none of the characters even know that there was such a thing as a human.

all of the characters are androids.

human-like in form and function

but not human. so far as they know, they were always as they are now... they created the ruined cities they now scavenge... that's what they believe

in truth, they were built originally in the middle of the calamity, by humans, in order to fend off that which was causing the calamity.

the plan failed, as the androids weren't strong enough to win, and the humans didn't survive the war.

and after centuries, all accessible data about any of it, is lost either to corruption, severed linkages, etc.

not all life is mechanical, but for the most part, mechanoids and mutants are the primary inheritors of the earth.

giant mechs somewhat akin to zoids, over time, having bits and bytes corrupted, have become feral

alien mutants not unlike kaiju of Godzilla fame have long since invaded and occupied

humanity was too frail in the early days of the war... they couldn't self repair like androids.

the androids can bleed, can 'die' if their wounds are left untreated... but they can treat their ills with scrap and consume organic materials for fuel.
