  2. 11:20 PM - crater: Hello?
  3. 11:20 PM - Silence: Hey!
  4. 11:20 PM - Silence: Sorry, I'm having some scary issues with a guy named Dis and someone named Recon said you might be able to help or just shed some light on it?
  5. 11:21 PM - crater: Yeah, Recon sent me the logs. Dis is a pretty sketchy guy, he's taken down plenty of servers in the past.
  6. 11:21 PM - crater: Previously he worked mostly on serious roleplay servers (from the inside - he infiltrates them and takes them down) but he's moving onto other servers from what I've heard from some old friends.
  7. 11:22 PM - crater: I managed to save Lazarus from most of his reports to Bethesda and such but he managed to get Johnny in trouble because of past events with Spire.
  8. 11:24 PM - Silence: Mind if I ask what the reports he sent to Bethesda contained? Like, was it serious stuff or was it easy to dismiss?
  9. 11:25 PM - crater: It was absolutely serious. Requests for DMCA takedowns, intellectual property claims, the whole nine yards. If there's any sort of profit involved (and maybe even if there isn't - even if there aren't any donations, maybe) then there's chance of a legal battle.
  10. 11:25 PM - crater: It's why Lazarus was ultimately a failure to begin with, Johnny was still dealing with legal issues from Spire and was trying to avoid the charges by creating something to act as a placebo.
  11. 11:29 PM - crater: I managed to get the Lazarus content cleared of any IP charges by clearing the metadata and making small edits to the smoothing groups. Took a few months, and Lazarus was ultimately defeated before the project was able to be put into action in Garry's Mod, but I've been waiting for an opportunity to bring it back into the lime light.
  12. 11:30 PM - crater: Ultimately had to import the content into 3dsmax, export it into different formats, re-import it, etc etc. Rinse and repeat. After all that, it was impossible to make legal claims on the things we were using on the server. It would have worked against Dis, but like I said we already had legal issues remaining after Spire got taken down and thus we had to cancel the entire project.
  13. 11:32 PM - Silence: The one thing I don't get
  14. 11:32 PM - Silence: is how all servers are made of Garry's mod workshop content
  15. 11:32 PM - Silence: Yet you guys were the legal target?
