Hello.
Hello, world -- no, hello reader.
Hello, Dear Reader.
If you'll allow me, I've decided to go on a tangent about words today.
Specifically, Words, as in the stuff that written language is composed of.
Words are great. Spectacular, really. They're an efficient, tidy medium through which an individual can transmit their deepest thoughts, fears, dreams, desires, and emotions.
Sadly, there are a lot of people out there who don't care for written language much at all. They think, "Oh, sure, it's there. It's useful, I guess." They don't GET it, though, the magic of it all. I get sad, whenever I tab over to Facebook, or whatever social medium happens to be popular, and see some form of words being shortened or otherwise corrupted, whether it be by spelling or simple incorrect use of the expressions in question.
I'm not quite sure, what I truly feel about this.
Of course, it's undoubtable that I consider myself an intellectual, compared with the majority of my, erm, "peers". I don't believe that more than a handful of them appreciate written language quite like I do, or would want to care about my musings on the matter at all. Or, maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way? Perhaps, it's just that writing is my obsession. Most people have a fixation on something, something that they're passionate about, I think. At least, that would be logical. I don't know, I haven't the expertise to psychoanalyze myself at the moment about that. Maybe later, though!
Anyways. There is hope, for the appreciation of writing and literature in general.
I know there is, because, if you've even bothered to read this far, Dear Reader, that means you probably care somewhat about written language, too. Or, perhaps you're just really, REALLY bored? Either way, I am ever so grateful that you've stuck with me for the entire three hundred something words. I, ah, I know the word count because there's a little counter at the bottom-right of my text-editor. I didn't count the words. Honest.
While there might be a vast sea of people who can't be bothered with one of the most wonderful things in this world, it's comforting to know that there's at least a few people like yourself, Dear Reader. People who give fucks, which are ridiculously hard to come by, these days, indeed.
You know, I really had no idea what I was going to write, when I fired up my text-editing program. It's nice, isn't it? When the words just flow out of your fingertips, like a river, out of the maelstrom that is your mind. One of the most wonderful things, really, it truly is. The right music helps me, personally. Of course, you don't want to hear about me.
So.
Thank you.
Thank you for GETTING it, Dear Reader.
Goodbye.
