  3. Hash: SHA256
  5. Unfortunately, it was recently discovered that the Bitcoin Forum's server
  6. was compromised. It is currently believed that the attacker(s) *could* have
  7. accessed the database, but at this time it is unknown whether they actually did
  8. so. If they accessed the database, they would have had access to all
  9. personal messages, emails, and password hashes. To be safe, it is
  10. recommended that all Bitcoin Forum users consider any password used
  11. on the Bitcoin Forum in 2013 to be insecure: if you used this
  12. password on a different site, change it. When the Bitcoin Forum
  13. returns, change your password.
  15. Passwords on the Bitcoin Forum are hashed with 7500 rounds of
  16. sha256crypt. This is very strong. It may take years for
  17. reasonably-strong passwords to be cracked. Even so, it is best to
  18. assume that the attacker will be able to crack your passwords.
  20. The Bitcoin Forum will return within the next several days after a
  21. full investigation has been conducted and we are sure that this
  22. problem cannot recur.
  24. Check http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/ and #bitcoin on Freenode for
  25. more info as it develops.
  27. We apologize for the inconvenience.
