- SPISC Sports Fiesta 2014 - Debriefing
- Denny, Han, Shang Le
- Duration: 1 hour
- Date: 26th November 2014
- Weather: Stormy
- Registration did very well, despite having messy situation.
- Able to react accordingly and systematically, especially the book keeping.
- Out of all the registration, the same few is handling the booth, its good to take turns.
- Need help, say it fast. So we can have more time to react. (Insufficient manpower)
- Preparation should be done faster (e.g indemnity form, receipt)
- Publicity’s poster is very good, received good feedbacks. However, the publicity is not really effective. They are aware of it but not many people registered. Internet publicity only able to draw a few teams, hence not really effective. Try to be more proactive and communicate more especially with the registration department.
- Sponsorship very surprisingly good. Given the 2 week duration.
- Next time, allocate about 1 month for requests
- Logistics - Prepared the gift too fast, e.g. unable to cut cost as things are already bought.
- So next time, outdoor events or sport events, focus more on the drinks rather than food
- Pretty good job, e.g. cleaning the bubble.
- Lineguard - Quite proactive, logistic not enough manpower to clean the bubble suit, they took the initiative to help.
- Year 1s helped a lot during the cleaning in the bubble. Good job on the boundaries (e.g. using aluminium cans to prevent the poking hazard)
- However, job isn’t well spread. Voice out when someone is not fulfilling their tasks.
- Timekeeper - Quite independent, doesn’t require prompting. Enquiries are asked immediately rather than dragged. Took turns among time keepers.
- Referee - Participants taking their time despite commentators prompting. Should have ushered (or rush) them. Should have more communication with the timekeepers. Extremely lacking of manpower.
- Usher - Lacking presence. Same people all the time. Split of task recommended.
- Commentator - When ISC members are playing, performed very well. When outsiders are playing, comments are lesser. Well done on the preparation on the sponsorship.
- Minigame department - Last department to be created, good job on executing it in such a small time frame. Impressive game, but can’t “sell” the game. Most participants did not participate. Photo Booth: more communication require (i.e. the time of the participants arriving).
- Photographer: Filter and post at night. Required to post on SPISC FB directly.
- General Feedback:
- It is good to communicate, but that does not mean that you throw the trouble to someone else.
- Try not to sidetrack and abandon your job for too long.
- “Fengshui” planning would be good, e.g. the location of the booth should be somewhere that is more accessible (i.e. more crowd)
- Chair and co-chair, should plan the events like earlier. Try not to push responsibility. Start things early. #fact: SPISC Sports Fiesta was only planned in 3 weeks.
- Outdoor/sport event, try not to organise in the monsoon season.
- Try to avoid weekend, participants are unwilling to come to school over the weekends, unless no choice.
- Always remember to think out of the box
- Creative ideas (crazy ideas) can be tried, failing is ok. At the same time “If it ain’t break, don’t fix it”
- Goals:
- Keep a nice image
- We aim to be more superior than SPSU
