  1. A journey can be expressed in a multitude of ways, being either classified into 'inner' , 'physical' or 'spiritual'. The poem ‘’ We All Are Only Here’’ by ‘Francis Duggan’ depicts a metaphoric journey relating to death. It shows the equality of humans and furthermore power and status that only exists in our society because we allow it to, It explains that after death there is no status, no power ...only equality amongst every other creature that has passed on.
  2.
  3. The poem is composed with a ABCB rhyme scheme, and is written in a first person perspective which makes it seem like it was narrated, as if the author is standing here with us, . The poem has the undertone of death and the sadness gives greater value to it.
  4.
  5.
  6.
  7. He states ‘Humans are not that different to other life forms
  8. Since we too are only born for to die’’
  9. He also mentions
  10. ‘The reaper is the champion egalitarian
  11. For he treats everybody as the same
  12. He does not bow to president or monarch
  13. Or draw distinctions between anonymity and fame.’
  14.
  15. The quotes are representing Duggan’s idea that when it comes to dying, everything that we  consider valuable, ends up being nothing, as when we die there is no difference between being rich, poor, famous etc.
  16.
  17.
  18.
  19. Duggan uses juxtaposition to demonstrate how every journey must end no matter who or what is travelling when he mentions’
  20. ''.The woodlouse who hides under a stone in the garden
  21. .In many ways no less a mortal than I.''
  22.
  23. Throughout the speech, the poet personifies death to seem like a person, as if death actually considers everyone equally, while it isn’t a person or even some sort of force.
  24.
  25. Another technique that can be said is that the author reiterates in the beginning how all journeys come to an end.
  26.
  27.
  28. The poem is very emotional with the sense that we will pass away but it reminds us that we all end up the same.
  29. The metaphorical journey within the poem distributes the idea that no one is different once dead and that any person or creature will always end up the same, as we are all the same.

  45. The picture I have chosen portrays the  people who have landed on the moon. It is a fictional picture that is representing the 3  ex - astronauts looking at the moon from earth.
  46.
  47. .The eyes are first drawn to the car with the  people in it as it is in the centre of the page covering the most room, the people and the truck both seem to look old, while the males have grey hair and the truck is full of rust.
  48. Our eyes are then drawn to the moon as it is what all the people are looking at, the moon also stands out a lot due to the night of the sky.
  49.
  50.
  51. The picture is illustrating a inner journey, By looking at the astronauts faces you can understand that they are very proud of their accomplishments after all the years that have gone by.
  52.
  53. The picture has been set out in a manner that allows us to imagine the days when they all set out and landed on the moon, it really emphasizes the years that have gone , by showing the old truck and the astronauts in their present state.
  54.
  55. Once again the moon plays a significant role in this picture, as it is the still there shining at night. By the dark landscape, background and clothing that the astronauts are wearing it really confirms the greatness of the moon. The background on the earth seems to look like its in a desert, with the mountains behind them and a dark, dusty ground. This helps contribute to the fact that they are at a quiet place where no one can disturb them, and that no pollution from the city can interrupt them.
  56.
  57. The stylization of the moon and the focus on the people create a sense of importance for both. Combining one another to an eternal bond, weaved by their journeys.

  65.
  66. The picture can inspire people to pursue and complete their journey’s , as the reward can be years and decades of memories. It also can enlighten people that no amount of years can destroy a journey that has been accomplished.

  74. Both these poems show different ideas on journeys. While one is a metaphoric one and the other is a journey of memory, it is safe to conclude that in life we can carry out alot of journey's and while we live it is very important and valuable to us, although people and creatures might all be different, we all carry out our journey's and at the end we all become equal.
