  1314. This was done by someone who clearly knows what they are doing. =
  1315. Anonymous is one of the largest, if not THE largest group of hackers in =
  1316. the world at this time. They've taken down Sony, DoD and many others in =
  1317. recent months.
  1318.  
  1319. I've replaced their hacked version with a blank screen for right now =
  1320. (it's the quickest thing to get theirs off of there). I've also updated =
  1321. the FTP password.
  1322.  
  1323. This isn't like the previous hack where one file was replaced and it =
  1324. redirected. In this case Anon was able to gain FTP access directly to =
  1325. the server and remove ALL files to your site. We're working on =
  1326. restoring the backups now, and looking to see how far this attack went. =
  1327. At this time, it only looks like the web files were removed, but the =
  1328. database was left intact and untouched.
  1329.  
  1330. We're going to have to lock down not only the front end (as done =
  1331. previously), but we are going to have to limit the IP addresses that can =
  1332. access anything to do with the server.
  1333.  
  1334. Unfortunately, there are a couple things to consider with this one:
  1335. - This was clearly not a random attack.
  1336. - If this truly is anon, it may not be limited to just your site or just =
  1337. this one attack. Currently, your domain is on a web server that hosts =
  1338. some of our other sites and clients as well. It may be a good idea to =
  1339. host your site on a fully secured private web server. This can run from =
  1340. $400 - $2,000 per month. On a shared server, the other domains could be =
  1341. vectors for possible access to your site as well.
  1342. - Anonymous is a little out of my league. Since you are being targeted, =
  1343. I would suggest hiring a specialist for this type of matter. I'd be =
  1344. more than happy to help you select one, but it seems that someone =
  1345. dedicated to ensuring the security on an ongoing basis and can have 100% =
  1346. control over the server and site may be the direction needed at this =
  1347. point. RackSpace and similar companies offer managed solutions that may =
  1348. cover what is required.
  1349.  
  1350. As far as reporting this, and to who, I must admit that I'm not exactly =
  1351. sure. I believe it would be the FBI. Here's a government resource I =

  1404. There wasn't any sensitive information attached to the website that I =
  1405. know of. It was a database of publicly available blog posts.

  1407. However, there is one concern that I have: Shortly before this attack, =
  1408. we got the notice of the email password at Google being changed or being =
  1409. updated. With their "email" claim and the fact that they had access to =
  1410. the FTP site (which may have been obtained through email =
  1411. communications), it may also be possible that they were able to hack =
  1412. into Google's Mail servers.

  1414. The first thing to do would be to change the admin and all the passwords =
  1415. on all the accounts at Google Mail.
