Subject: C - Programming, can I use it?

I'm currently studying computer engineering at university and as part of the course we've learnt C-programming (which replaced assembly) and my question to is; what can I use C-programming for now? From my point of view it looks like C has allready been replaced by C++, C# (for windows) and other languages.
