  1. [18:15:11] <~Aeros> last night, the girls had killed a clockwork youma. the next morning the school is ablaze with rumors about a homeless boy being killed at the mall late at night.
  2. [18:16:42] <Karis> Fuck the rumors. Karis is going out of her way to try and dispel the rumor. Who the hell would kill a homeless kid in a mall?
  3. [18:17:10] <~Aeros> "Yeah but they closed down the mall and the police are being real quiet about it" Sakura responds.
  4. [18:17:31] <Ruby> "What's the big deal? Homeless people die all the time."
  5. [18:19:40] <~Aeros> "Isn't that kind of...cold hearted?" Rei speaks up
  6. [18:20:06] <Karis> "if he was killed, maybe. Still a load of BS."
  7. [18:20:41] <~Aeros> "That's not what everyone else is saying." Sakura rolls her eyes, then gets on to her own class.
  8. [18:20:44] <Ruby> "Yeah I don't buy that he was killed. It's not cold hearted if it's true, Rei, and there's no getting around that homeless people die."
  9. [18:21:57] <Karis> "people are sheep. One kid got it in her head that he was murdered and now everyone thinks it. Load of crap. Anyway...I'll check back after school, okay ruby?"
  10. [18:22:47] <Ruby> "Sure, whatever. Try not to get glasses all over your books." Ruby turns and follows Sakura off to their class.
  11. [18:23:34] * Karis doesn't know what Ruby means. She doesn't even wear glasses...although now that she thinks about it...
  12. [18:23:59] <~Aeros> Rei sort of awkwardly shuffle off after her friends leave.
  13. [18:33:44] <~Aeros> anyway, the rumors seem to persist; apparently according to the news, the boy had died of malnuitrition, according to the police.
  14. [18:35:12] <Karis> "So..." Karis will glance at Saki. It's been a rough 24 hours.
  15. [18:35:41] <~Aeros> after school, you three get together to discuss things.
  16. [18:36:18] <~Aeros> its just before after school activities, so Karis and Ruby only have a bit of time to talk.
  17. [18:36:48] * Ruby checks over her shoulder for her friends to make sure Rei isn't lurking around. "So... guess they found him?"
  18. [18:37:01] <Karis> "look. I know you have some beef against me so just spill it." Karis glares at the girl.
  19. [18:38:43] <Ruby> "Beef? You must be misreading things. I can't imagine why I would have a problem with someone threatening to shoot me and take all the credit for our victory."
  20. [18:39:23] * Saki stands, keeping out of the flak, looking unconcerned about the squabble
  21. [18:40:09] <Karis> "that's what I'm talking about. What the fuck is your problem with me? Calling me glasses, thinking I used to play board games...what's happening?"
  22. [18:41:28] <Ruby> "I think calling you a few names and misremembering your dorky after school activity pales against that shit you pulled last night."
  23. [18:42:45] <Karis> "shit got intense. I panicked. I'm sorry. Now can we please get on with it? I have nationals to start prepping for."
  24. [18:43:48] <Ruby> "Sure, I've got practice to get to anyway. We have a big game against our rival coming up in a week. I'll call you two later if anything comes up."
  25. [18:44:29] <Karis> "okay. Also lemme know if the demonic furball decides to drop in."
  26. [18:44:45] <Karis> "got a minute Saki? Wanted to talk about something"
  27. [18:45:07] * Saki nods "Sure, go ahead"
  28. [18:45:11] <Ruby> "Will do. Hopefully that little puke stays out of sight for a while though." Ruby then turns and lets the bookgirls have their book club.
  29. [18:46:04] <Karis> "Amen to that..." Karis lets Ruby go while taking Saki along as she heads towards the band room. "you feeling okay?"
  30. [18:47:05] * Saki follows Karis "Fine, i've taken my medication.."
  31. [18:48:12] <Karis> "you know...you never told me what you need medication for...is that a secret or do you mine sharing?"
  32. [18:51:00] <Karis> "...you know what? Never mind. Sorry I asked. Anyway..."
  33. [18:51:57] * Saki glances back at Karis "Okay... I'll forget you asked"
  34. [18:52:50] <Karis> "you sure you're up for this? No offense but you kinda bailed on us last night. I don't blame you...but we could useyour help."
  35. [18:54:28] * Karis offers a hand to the girl "besides, I got your back, alright?"
  36. [18:55:10] * Saki nods, and manages a smile "And i'll have yours, when you need it"
  37. [18:56:11] <Karis> With a friendly hug, Karis leaves the girl as she straps on her snare drum in the gym, readying for practice.
  38. [18:57:14] <~Aeros> Karis meets up with Rachel, the tuba player, and heads to practice
  39. [18:58:06] <~Aeros> the rest of the night is uneventful; practices go well, and there doesnt seem to be any odd activity involving Youma
  40. [18:58:11] <Karis> "so Rachel...excited for nats?" Karis brushes aside a stray bit of hair as she starts keying in her drum.
  41. [18:59:27] <~Aeros> "Course." She smiles happily, "Not sure how well we'll do, but everyone seems excited."
  42. [19:00:48] * Karis nods and works on her rudiments before practice starts. She thinks it went well...and then it's late that night, I guess. Maybe the next morning. Time seems to act oddly when no one pays attention.
  43. [19:01:47] <~Aeros> the next day is a saturday, and school is closed.
  44. [19:01:49] <~Aeros> what do all?
  45. [19:03:23] * Karis calls Saki and Ruby. Best to know what anyone has found out, if anything.
  46. [19:03:51] <~Aeros> alright then, that morning Karis gets in a three way call with Saki and Ruby.
  47. [19:04:32] <Karis> "any sign of Kirin or more youma?" Karis is in her room, so it's unlikely anyone will overhear her.
  48. [19:05:04] <Saki> "none, i haven't seen ether"
  49. [19:05:08] * Ruby answers on speakerphone while running intensively on her treadmill. "None last night, guess they're laying low or planning something big."
  50. [19:05:57] <~Aeros> "That's mean~" Ruby, and the others hear since she put on speakerphone
  51. [19:06:08] <~Aeros> behind Ruby is, indeed, Kirin
  52. [19:06:28] <Karis> "hmm...well we can ei-whoa! Since when did Kirin get patched in?"
  53. [19:06:54] <Ruby> "Oh son of a bitch." Ruby dials up her exercise even more intensely. "The damn thing just materialized behind me."
  54. [19:07:22] <Saki> "i didn't think those things even could plan"
  55. [19:07:45] <Karis> "okay then Kirin, spill it. What do you know?"
  56. [19:08:13] <~Aeros> It smiles, and its tail waves in the air "There are a feew Youma around the city~ You girls haven't been good at looooking~"
  57. [19:08:39] <~Aeros> It then hops on the treadmill just behind Karis, running.
  58. [19:08:40] <Ruby> "If we haven't found them they can't be doing much harm, can they?"
  59. [19:09:05] <~Aeros> "Only if you consider hurting people no haarm~"
  60. [19:09:41] <Karis> "well then throw us a bone! Are we supposed to be able to find them or is it just hide and seek?"
  61. [19:10:25] <~Aeros> "Maaaybe if you got out mooore~"
  62. [19:10:51] <Ruby> "We get out plenty, it's not my fault youma don't like sports."
  63. [19:11:05] <Karis> "or music."
  64. [19:11:35] <~Aeros> "If you say so~"
  65. [19:11:38] <Karis> "anyway, we should at least try to look." Karis checks the time.
  66. [19:12:04] <~Aeros> "There is another one by the beach again~ and another in the old industrial center of toown~"
  67. [19:12:17] <~Aeros> "Another one seems to be hanging around Rivers street, the sluuums~"
  68. [19:12:33] <Karis> "wait, what do you mean by 'beach again'?"
  69. [19:12:41] <Saki> "which is the easiest"
  70. [19:12:51] <~Aeros> "They often come to the beaches~"
  71. [19:13:06] <~Aeros> "Its a gooood place to loook if you don't know where to staart~"
  72. [19:13:13] <~Aeros> "I don't knooow~"
  73. [19:13:14] <Ruby> "Don't ask Karis, he's just trying to throw us. The slums one seems like it'd be the most dangerous to people."
  74. [19:14:02] * Karis sighs. God she wanted to strangle the thing. "the old industrial district probably will be the most deserted - easier to use our powers without getting caught."
  75. [19:14:42] <~Aeros> "lots of heeavy machinery~"
  76. [19:14:56] <Ruby> "Let's meet at the school in an hour and play odds or evens to see which one we hit."
  77. [19:15:13] <Karis> "works for me. Saki, that work for you?"
  78. [19:15:29] <Saki> "yeah, in about an hour"
  79. [19:16:32] <~Aeros> "Ookay~ Have fun girls~"
  80. [19:16:37] <Ruby> "ALl right, so we're going to go hunt some youma. Can you leave us alone now, devil dog?"
  81. [19:16:42] <Karis> "done then. Ruby, lose the tail. I'll see you two then"
  82. [19:16:57] <~Aeros> it stops walking and flies off the treadmill, when ruby turns to look where it landed, its already gone
  83. [19:17:17] * Ruby hangs up the phone, and goes to get ready for meeting at the school.
  84. [19:19:02] * Karis shows up at the school a good ten minutes before they decided to meet. She had a hunch that...thing was plotting. Or something.
  85. [19:20:50] <~Aeros> the school isn't completely abandoned, there are still faculty and some students there for extra curricular activities.
  86. [19:21:04] <~Aeros> but you are free to walk in and around the school
  87. [19:21:33] * Ruby shows up five minutes late and leans her bike against a nearby tree. "So then."
  88. [19:21:55] * Karis will look up and wave her over to a bench.
  89. [19:23:55] * Ruby goes to sit on the bench next to Karis. "So, odds for the factory, evens for the slums?"
  90. [19:24:35] <Karis> "was hoping Saki would show up..." Karis sighs.
  91. [19:25:11] <Ruby> "She'll be around, I think she lives a bit farther away than we do."
  92. [19:25:21] * Saki appears, almost out of the shadows
  93. [19:25:59] * Karis makes a two-fingered motion as if to say "get your butt over here!"
  94. [19:26:30] * Saki follows and takes a seat
  95. [19:27:11] <Karis> "you said even for factory, odd for slums?" Karis clears her throat a little.
  96. [19:27:56] <Ruby> "Sure, whatever, makes no difference."
  97. [19:28:23] <Saki> "they are probably bad as eacha other"
  98. [19:28:23] <~Aeros> Ruby: you notice a familiar face snooping around. a computer geek that seems to have it out for you. she's sitting ona bench farther away typing at her computer, but she keeps giving sideways glances at you sitting with the two other girls.

  107. [19:31:20] <Ruby> (When you shoot for odds and evens two people hold up a number of fingers simultaneously on one hand and then add them together)
  108. [19:32:09] * Karis will look to see what Ruby is up to. Hopefully nothing stupid.
  109. [19:32:10] * Ruby stands up and walks over to the girl looking at her, and places a finger on the top of her laptop. "See something you like pipsqueak?"
  110. [19:32:37] <~Aeros> (huh)
  111. [19:33:02] <Momo> And as she got up, the next glance was accompanied by a nervous slide to the side. To the part of the bench... as far away as possible, at least. It didn't go so well. "O-Oh... hi." With as much distaste as her voice could muster.
  112. [19:33:14] <Ruby> (It's okay, I literally just figured that out like a week ago)
  113. [19:34:54] <~Aeros> (brb, keep going)
  114. [19:35:03] <Ruby> "So, I'm sure you're here dweebing it up. Are you trying to keep an eye on me in the meanwhile?"
  115. [19:35:03] <Momo> The laptop was in danger. Her danger senses flared... as did her eyes, but behind the gigantic glasses it wasn't the easiest sight to see. "I-I'm busy, leave me alone. Doin' schoolwo-" That probably wasn't a clever thing to say, actually. Not with the rumors plastered on her screen, which a bunch of nervous sweats attempted to prevent Ruby from finding out about.
  116. [19:36:38] <Karis> "ruby, can you please leave the poor stereotypical geek alone? She's probably suffered enough..." Karis will approach, clearly not amused with how this is turning.
  117. [19:37:26] * Ruby closes the laptop and leans in really close to Momo. "If I catch you looking at me again on weekends, I'm gonna fold you like this, got it?"
  118. [19:38:33] <Momo> A light of hope! A shining beacon of justice! A... well, probably not enough to help poor Momo out. This was just another average day, where she herself couldn't stand up to yet another bully. That said, her only response to Ruby's statement was a large gulp-- hiding the sigh of relief at the fact that she didn't see what was being hidden.
  119. [19:39:19] * Ruby stands up and heads back over to Karis. "You'd be less judgmental about that if you had a stalker too."
  120. [19:39:54] <Karis> "right..." Karis will linger a bit while Ruby goes back towards Saki
  121. [19:39:56] <Momo> The trash can wasn't very far away. Look for an opening to dash... look for an opening to dash...
  122. [19:40:32] <Karis> "I don't really care if you're gay, but you could do a lot better than her." then Karis will follow the basketballer back.
  123. [19:40:58] <~Aeros> and with that...interesting interaction
  124. [19:41:05] <~Aeros> where did you girls decide to check out
  125. [19:41:28] <Ruby> (The powers that be decided factory)
  126. [19:41:47] <Momo> ... A deep sigh. When the coast was clear, the brunette with the superthick braid opened her laptop back up-- to a blog post about a certain incident. Filled with as much bullshit as possible.
  127. [19:42:00] <Karis> "well, let's get a move on. No clue when things'll get ugly..."
  128. [19:43:11] <~Aeros> alright so
  129. [19:43:58] <~Aeros> the west side of town is where the old industrial area is. city history states that it used to be the centerpoint of all of the city's big operations, but now its a little more than a warehouse area.
  130. [19:46:01] <Karis> "so Ruby...how do you do it?"
  131. [19:46:18] <~Aeros> Saki comes down with a coughing fit, and and says she'll catch up with you guys later.
  132. [19:46:22] <Ruby> "Do what?"
  133. [19:47:52] <Karis> "get people do just fall over you. You've got a stalker who would turn gay for you, probably have plenty of boys who want to bed you...what's your secret?"
  134. [19:49:22] <Ruby> "Well for starters I'm tall, athletic and pretty, but that's not a secret. I also act like I don't give a fuck what people want from me or that they want me at all. If people think you can do without them, they want in even more."
  135. [19:50:01] <~Aeros> nothing seems to be out of the ordinary so far, you see the occassional forklift operator transfering large crates, but nothing out of the ordinary.
  136. [19:51:03] <Karis> "...huh. That's an interesting take..." Karis will close her eyes, allowing the winds to whip around her. Maybe...even without magic, maybe she could sense a youma?
  137. [19:51:45] <Ruby> "Think maybe Kirin sent us on a wild goose chase?"
  138. [19:52:47] <Karis> "one way to find out..." Karis calms her nerves once again, trying to exert as much magic as possible while still keeping it contained, keeping herself from transforming...
  139. [19:54:35] <~Aeros> you hear the gentle jingling of chains.
  140. [19:55:47] <~Aeros> that creeping feeling settles in, and you know there is a youma nearby. it does not attack however.
  141. [19:56:01] * Karis perks up. Her mind locks in on that sound, trying to divine anything else she could, without letting her magic overtake her. It was a lot harder than she thought.

  155. [20:00:18] <Karis> "mmmaah!~" With a pained moan, magic explodes as Karis transforms into get magical garb. She is blushing madly and seems appropriately disappointed in herself.
  156. [20:01:21] <Ruby> "Wait we're doing this already?" Ruby glances around again for workers who might spot them.
  157. [20:01:51] <~Aeros> (anyway, did you want to vent any of that magical energy?)
  158. [20:02:34] <~Aeros> if not, we continue on: the only worker nearby gives you girls an odd look, but goes back to his duties in the warehouse he's working in

  178. [20:09:03] <Ruby> "Karis what the hell, you shrank me!"
  179. [20:11:33] <Karis> "what the hell? What makes you think I did this?"
  180. [20:12:12] <Ruby> "Well I've got to blame someone! Maybe it was the youma, shit."
  181. [20:13:08] <~Aeros> talking seems to pop Ruby back to normal size
  182. [20:13:30] <~Aeros> you eventually get to the source; an open warehouse with chains hanging from the ceiling.
  183. [20:13:37] <Ruby> "Well that was weird... and terrifying."
  184. [20:14:37] <Karis> "yeah. Let's get rid of it before it does anything more."
  185. [20:15:04] * Ruby materializes a basketball and dribbles it into the open warehouse.
  186. [20:15:32] * Karis brings up her bow and nocks an arrow
  187. [20:16:10] <~Aeros> inside, the chains jingle and rattle from the gentle breeze...
  188. [20:16:42] <Ruby> "So, last one was a clock, think this one will be a chain youma?"
  189. [20:16:43] <Karis> (init time?)
  190. [20:16:47] <~Aeros> the chains seem to be all connected, one big long line, but you aren't sure where it ends. one chain is clearly the end

  194. [20:18:12] <Karis> "looks like it. Keep alert. Could whiplash from anywhere."
  195. [20:18:34] <Ruby> "Try firing an arrow at the chain, see how it reacts."
  196. [20:19:24] <Karis> "I'd rather use my arrows on the actual youma. If I'm shooting at it I wanna hit it."
  197. [20:20:00] <Ruby> "Maybe that is the youma, and neither of us is going to walk into that trap."
  198. [20:20:20] <Karis> "alright, makes sense I guess..."
  199. [20:20:38] * Karis takes aim and fires at a low-hanging chain.
  200. [20:21:17] <~Aeros> the wind makes funny sounds passing through the chains...DINK. your arrow hits the chain and passes it, grazing it.
  201. [20:21:31] <~Aeros> the chain then begins to pull taught. then another chain, and another.
  202. [20:21:59] * Karis makes sure there aren't any around her feet!
  203. [20:22:16] <~Aeros> from above, a small spider like creature comes down. around its body is a large shackle, keeping it inside.
  204. [20:22:26] * Ruby stays beyond the warehouse's doorway.
  205. [20:22:40] <~Aeros> its larger than a normal spider with a three feet legspan
  206. [20:23:10] <~Aeros> it looks at you, and opens its three jaws to give a sickly screech, and rushes towards you.
  207. [20:23:18] <~Aeros> (alright, NOW init)
  208. [20:23:45] <Ruby> (Attack stat is Fury 8, Defense is Magic 6, Support is Heart 4. Init is 10)

  211. [20:25:45] <Ruby> "Kill it! We've got to kill it!" Ruby shouts as she chucks the basketball at the chainspider.
