The downfall of Aphotic

 

        I apologize in advance if this post is a wall of text. I'm just starting to write it and I'm not sure how long it will be. I would also advise someone to copy and paste this incase it gets taken down for some reason. It's not meant to be a callout thread.

        Aphotic is disbanding in tera. Myself and many other old/new members were kicked, and many others followed behind us and left on their own.    

        I would like to make this post to spread the word of why Aphotic is no longer in tera. I am writing the majority of this post myself, but I have had other members who left aphotic help me proofread and add input to this topic. I would like to say that this is not a post meant to trash talk aphotic, but to spread awareness of why aphotic has been disbanded.

        I joined Aphotic by myself in tera, so I have no knowledge of their past history and I don't claim to know it. I did enjoy being in aphotic for Tera and I left with a bunch of great friends. I did not enjoy how I, and others, left Aphotic. All of this drama happened over the past few weeks and I would just like to let everyone know what Aphotic became.

        Aphotic is ran by a group of members that they called the council(Fang, Joss, Devour, Virginsoft, Trev). It was 5 members that were meant to vote on topics. Sometimes it seemed fine, but other times it seemed like it was really run by one member(Devour) just like any other guild, which really never was a problem. At our peak we were doing great. Top of the leaderboards without even knowing they were coming out. We even had guild rules that set the standards of how we are supposed to treat each other, but not many followed that, and during guild wars Devour could be very stern and pushy(trash talking). Yes, this post is starting to lean toward him.

        Over time though some of the core tera members of aphotic, and even council members started to leave Tera because they were bored of it, or were going to different games (diablo/gw2/etc). We lost alot of members and starting recruiting more newer ones so the guild didnt have the same feel. Everyone had already formed their statics, or newer ones were invited it. It was much harder to be welcomed into the guild.

        So enough of the setup. The guild was fine until a few weeks ago and this is where the drama starts. There is really no good way to explain this, so I will just start typing. A certain member joined the guild which devour became friends with, or maybe they were already friends. I didn't know this member, and not many even got to know her. The name of the person doesn't matter either, because it's not about her. Devour always seemed to hang out with her. I'm not implying anything here, but he just became very distant to the guild. Well since this is the internet, people began to harass that member. Sometimes subtle, and sometimes not so much. The member even told devour not to worry about it, and just to blow it off, but eventually devour had enough and wanted to address it.

        Devour made 40+ people stay in mumble after nexus to discuss this member.
