  2. A PATH MADE NOT LOST - Composed by Elrum
  3.
  4. When eyeless beasts comb the land,
  5. Then shall be the time for all tribes to gather.
  6. The march must be made, or the path will be lost.
  7.
  8. Words the Sun King spoke, given unto us
  9. Time come, now past, in His Wisdom trust
  10. All came together, against the eyeless foe
  11. Even whilst recovering from a deluge of woe
  12.
  13. His Ivory was marred, the Grey a muddy mire
  14. Ancient tree and sapling bore witness to mutations most dire
  15. Bounty of the northlands, the noble heartwood, the Grey
  16. Bore infestation, rotting, weakening old trunks with decay
  17.
  18. In those hard borne days after the longest night
  19. Golden shelled vermin crawled in Warreners sight.
  20. Sink holes and fallen, still weighing on their hearts
  21. When Chosen led Citizens, forced intruders, this life depart
  22.
  23. Surif Born, Chosen Caste, all safe guarding His Domain
  24. Rebuilt and attended this encroaching vermin in His name
  25. Soon Ivory Walls once shattered, stood rebuilt in granduer
  26. The Scaien gates, a beacon lit, steadfast and shining standard
  27.
  28. Deep in the Grey was a hive where mutation first infested
  29. Together His Ivory marched, growing blight they arrested
  30. That day won, not a Citizen lost, yet there was still cost
  31. One became eye-less and wouldn't concede, that which the Sun King deeded
  32.
  33. Now a path is being made, not lost, from the city to the Grey
  34. All Tuluki hands rise, supplies and aide they provide
  35. Our Sun King spoke true when he spoke prophecy to us
  36. Together Tuluk, together we grow, and in His Wisdom trust
  37.

  39. IMPRISONED BY ONES SELF - Composed by Elrum
  40.
  41. I need another story, please...
  42. Something not as sad as this...
  43. I thought an Irofel's life was supposed to be adventure
  44. Not some sick ironic twist...
  45.
  46. This Irofel started young, so reckless and cocksure
  47. Tales of Holten Irofel providing such grand allure!
  48. He walked unto a training yard saying armor was of no import
  49. Then met a harsh axe blow, twas one memorable retort!
  50.
  51. This Irofel started young, so reckless and cocksure
  52. Sitting around in dusty rooms seemed such a feckin' bore.
  53. He danced amongst the gypsies spinning facades 'bout himself
  54. Then found his words had turned to truth, losing a loved hearts wealth
  55.
  56. This Irofel started young, so proud and well traveled
  57. Surviving things he shouldn't have, his life must be a-dazzled.
  58. He sang carelessly throughout the Known land, twice!
  59. Then lost his wits and happiness, it wasn't worth the price...
  60.
  61. This Irofel became bold, so experienced and 'mature'
  62. Dedicating his life to Tuluk and new trials to endure!
  63. He rode along on patrols deep into the Grey expanse
  64. Then came a day where hands were maimed, by chance
  65.
  66. This Irofel isn't young, time is not his friend...
  67. Things have not turned out, how he'd hoped in the end.
  68. Has a tale, has a song, but his heart he still hath rend.
  69.
  70. This Irofel isn't young, time is not his friend...
  71. Many lessons he has failed in life, their value mis-comprehend
  72. One's nature is not set, not a chain that binds their choice
  73. Does not grant excuse, to break promises of their own voice...
  74.
  75. This Irofel has one lesson though, for others of his kin
  76. He hopes they listen well before their own paths begin
  77. Heed the wisdom of your elders, but also of your peers
  78. If you don't, then the cost will be that which you held most dear
  79.
  80.

  82. LUIRSFEST TUNE - Composed by Elrum
  83.
  84. From White and Black,
  85. Travelled long an' far to relax
  86. No other place could it possibly be
  87. But the Kuraci Outpost, you see!
  88.
  89. Spice dens, Pleasure dens, all sorts of dens
  90. Firebreather, wine, and spice for your sid to spend
  91.
  92. From White an' Black,
  93. Travelled long an' far to relax
  94. Nab a spliff, grab a whore
  95. Don't be the one who's a bore!!!
  96.
  97. ========================================================
  98. COLLECTION OF EDUCATIONAL SAYINGS - Composed by Elrum
  99.
  100. Bahamet trundle about like giant gurth
  101. Their tremendous bite is the worst!
  102. Hard to hit behind shells so large
  103. if it's steak you seek you'd best charge, charge, charge!
  104.
  105. Knives with scythe-like hands, motionless they lay
  106. Poisons burn sight from eyes for a whole day
  107. Unseen they will follow and suddenly attack
  108. Knock back with mounted charge, then thwack!
  109.
  110. Soldiers shells colored most black
  111. Spraying acid leads the frantic attack
  112. Bone, leather, and flesh melts away
  113. Finish them quick or with lost limbs pay
  114.
  115. Lady's barbed tail sways amongst eyeless kin
  116. Her strike halts all motion after piercing skin
  117. Oft with soldiers she'll prowl the Grey
  118. Remove her first from any fray
  119.
  120. Fliers buzz through red tinged sky
  121. Poisons leave hunters sweating where they lie
  122. In great swarms they'll pick you up
  123. Then torn to pieces is your luck
  124.
  125. Brutes are the biggest, with clubbed tails.
  126. Their poisons will send one into raging flails.
  127. Strong enough to fell half-giants.
  128. On your quiver, you should be reliant.
  129.
  130. ========================================================
  131. FROM DUN TIL BLACK - Composed by Elrum
  132.
  133. From Dun's gate we ride out
  134. Heading eastward, til goodbye we shout!
  135.
  136. Southward bound we ride, into climes unkind
  137. Through gith and dunes, a menhir we seek to find
  138.
  139. The west winds we follow now, into lands much starker
  140. Through salt flats and pitfalls, we hope for a red stone marker
  141.
  142. Almost there, to a city most black
  143. Long past is any chance to turn back
  144.
  145. Guided south by the curve flow of sand
  146. An ivory road overlays the land
  147.
  148. ========================================================
  149. MEMORIAL SONG TO FALLEN CITIZENS - Composed by Elrum
  150.
  151. Know a Citizen by how they act,
  152. Whose company they keep,
  153. To whose defense they leap.
  154.
  155. Have you...
  156.
  157. Heard a whistling sound from Grey Forest,
  158. Found the fierce spirit beneath acid scarred flesh,
  159. Battled the despair of diseases slow ravages...
  160.
  161. Will you...
  162.
  163. Have family lost beyond the sands,
  164. Mourn students trained with thine own hands,
  165. Fail to keep safe, someone you've held dear?
  166.
  167. Remember a Citizen when they die,
  168. What was the line they choose to defend?
  169. And which foe did they bravely defy?
  170.
  171.

  198. And the truth in your eyes.
  199. And the way you always knew..
  200.
  201. That you...
  202. Deserved..
  203. Someone beetteer.

  206. BARD & BEAST - Composed by Elrum
  207.
  208. In the morning on the bed, they awakened
  209. With a grumble a mumble, they started kaaankin'
  210. She said he was a beast, he called her a bard!
  211.
  212. The moment came! The beast was spent...
  213. But the bardess toyed, she was not content!
  214.
  215. She whispered more, he whispered where
  216. They looked all over, before finding a chair.
  217. The sun was high, the day half spent...
  218.
  219. The man was wicked, his thoughts were dark
  220. He readied a crop for a mounted lark!
  221. The woman cried, her skin was flush
  222. The rider lashed, no hurry or rush.
  223.
  224. The chair held firm! Though it nearly broke
  225. When done, from a pipe, they did toke
  226. The man said please, the woman teased...
  227.
  228. The sun was low, the moons were too
  229. They had been at it til he was blue
  230. The woman crooned, the fella sighed
  231. She wrapped him in her thighs.
  232.
  233. He was spent, but she wanted more.
  234. She pinned him to the floor.
  235. He said no, she went slow...
  236.
  237.
  238.
  239. ==============================================================
  240.
  241.
  242. In a calling manner, you sing, in sirihish:
  243. "Let the time pass
  244. Slip between our fingers
  245. Like so much dust and sand
  246. Tossed listlessly in the breeze, oh please?"
  247.
  248. Musing, the chubby young blonde recites, in sirihish:
  249. "Let the time pass,
  250. Slipping between our fingers it doesn't last
  251. Tossed listlessly up in the breeze
  252. And yet in that moment it seems to freeze?"
  253.
  254. You sing, in sirihish:
  255. "Come beneath the Jallal tree
  256. Let the time pass, just a moment, please...
  257. It slips between our fingers, it just doesn't last.
  258. Like dust tossed up listless in the morning breeze..."
  259.
  260. Her unconfident tenor halting and uncertain, the lithe, greying woman sings, in sirihish:
  261. "Let the time pass
  262. Let it slip like sand between our fingers
  263. Each moment that we have won't last
  264. But the memories still linger."
  265.
  266. Looking down at the chubby young blonde while conintuing the rhythm on your tortoiseshell-inlaid fiddle, you sing, in sirihish:
  267. "Yet in that moment, doesn't it just
  268. Doesn't it just seem to freeze?"
  269.
  270. Dropping her voice shyly, squirming at the attention, the lithe, greying woman sings, in sirihish:
  271. "If time were a wine I would bottle it up
  272. I would cask it away for safe keeping
  273. That every moment with you I sup
  274. Could feel less fleeting."
  275.
  276.
  277. ==============================================================
  278. KURACI SPICE
  279.
  280. Whether the spice that you seek is red, golden or black...There is nothing so fine as the smoke from Kurac.
  281.
  282. When the wind it is raging and you're sick of the sand...Your troubles will fade with a tube in your hand.
  283.
  284. When your lovers' gone and left you or travelled far away...One pipe and youll be ready to face another day.
  285.
  286. Whether the spice that you seek is red, golden or black...There is nothing so fine than the smoke from Kurac.
  287.
  288. When your bones are all weary and your eyes want to close...You'll be better in a moment with some spice up your nose.
  289.
  290. When you're feeling like revelling you just give the sign...The party will be swinging with some spice in your wine.
  291.
  292. O' Whether the spice you seek is red, golden or black...There just ain't nothing finer than the smoke from Kurac!
  293.
  294.

  337. The moons roll around
  338. And you can't arrange
  339.
  340. An elf not to steal
  341. Or a halfling not bite,
  342. Or a flying kank, or a thin fat man,
  343. Try real hard, day still isn't night.
  344.
  345. Tingle come-a-jingle.
  346. Jingle come-a-loon,

  462. WHISPERING WOMEN AND A BARD
  463.
  464.
  465. *Performer
  466. They say, oh they say, that women have a way
  467. A way with whispering that makes them a man dismay!
  468.
  469.
  470. *Performer
  471. In the garden on a hot and sunny day
  472. A pair of women listened to a young bard play
  473. He sang sweetly to them with rhythms to please...
  474. All they did was whisper, what a cruel tease!
  475.
  476.
  477. +2nd performer
  478. Under the shade of the jallal tree
  479. As the charming bard makes time to play
  480. The two Tenneshi women do as they please
  481. Until the dying of the day.
  482.
  483.
  484. *Performer
  485. Instead they should have lept to their feet
  486. Before some ants come and bite their idle cheeks
  487. I've heard that jallal fruits abound...
  488. Bring ants to eat young bottoms, from all around.
  489.
  490.
  491. *Performer
  492. If only the lovely pair, had decided speak and share
  493. Their bottoms would be spared, I'd have given them a chair!
  494. Now they have but one way, to save themselves today...
  495. They will have to come back, to hear me sing another day.
  496.
  497.
  498.
  499. =============================================================
  500. THE LAST HALFLING
  501.
  502. Here and there and everywhere... There's a song, a tale to share."
  503.
  504. Today we'll find a simple one... The tale about a time much sung."
  505.
  506.
  507. Back in the king's age past,
  508. The was a halfling that was clever and fast.
  509. It swung from branch from tree to tree
  510. Always hunting for fools you see?
  511.
  512.
  513. Back then when the Grey was dry
  514. The halflings roamed and the fools did die.
  515. Feeding on unsuspecting flesh
  516. Loggers and hunters were always fresh.
  517.
  518.
  519. This clever halfling, was hunting that day
  520. In the forest known as the Grey
  521. He'd come upon a hunter and friend.
  522. The pair were unknowingly found their end.
  523.
  524.
  525. The halfling jumped from the tree with glee!
  526. The friend of the hunter attempted to flee!
  527. Alas it was no good, the time had come
  528. Neither the hunter of friend could run.
  529.
  530.
  531. What followed was a fought more fierce
  532. The halflings spear stabbed and pierced
  533. Despite the hunters best try then
  534. The halfling ended with a meal again.
  535.
  536.
  537. So this little tune has one lesson for you
  538. Always remember to bewary close to...
  539. The Grey forest. Else you'll be a halflings stew.
  540.
  541.

  544. FUNERAL SONG FOR MASTERBARD SUNICHI GROOT
  545.
  546.
  547. Now it's dimming, a guiding rhythm to our steps
  548. Its calling thrum fading in the evening light
  549. Its timeless and deep beat lingering still in us
  550. Ever guiding even in absence, urging us all
  551.
  552.
  553. Vast is the canopy of the Grey
  554. each ag'ed leaf a note of a life spent
  555. each branch a silent audience
  556.
  557.
  558. An audience to the warmth and life of the light
  559. An audience become dancers to the rhythm
  560. Soon the rhythm of the light becomes eternal
  561. His Light, His Art... Her brightness... Eternal in us all.
  562.
  563.

  566. SAFE IN HIS LIGHT
  567.
  568. I remember tears streaming down my face
  569. When I said, I'll never be back home
  570. When all those shadows almost killed my light
  571. I remember I said, Don't leave me here alone
  572. But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight
  573.
  574. Just close your eyes
  575. The sun is coming now
  576. You'll be alright...
  577.
  578. No one can hurt you now
  579. Come morning light
  580. You and I'll be safe and sound
  581.
  582. Don't you dare peek before the dawn
  583. The horrors outside our walls keeps raging on
  584. Hold onto this song
  585. Even when the music's gone
  586.
  587. So Just close your eyes
  588. The sun is coming now
  589. You'll be alright
  590. No one can hurt you now....
  591.
  592. Come morning light
  593. You and I'll be safe and sound
  594.
  595.
  596. =============================================================
  597. JUST A NAKKI COMMONER
  598.
  599. I'm a nakki commoner, no home, or job, or meal.
  600. I'm not worth the time of day or even one sunburnt skin peel
  601. I've shrifted every chance, to serve those better than me. I know
  602. No respect for my lot in life. I'm rabble and I'm low.
  603.
  604. But if I weren't so dim and clumsy, mayhap brighter then the rest?
  605. I'd find myself a place to serve, to put mettle to the test!
  606. I could even don the colors of my betters and be proud.
  607. Even proclaim my devoted servitude to other rabble...
  608.
  609. I'm just a nakki commoner. No home, or job, or meal.
  610. Still not worth the time of day or even a square deal.
  611. I've been blind of His Light since the day that I was born.
  612. Too sightless and faded to seek it out, my own happiness I've shorn.
  613.
  614. What a lot of poor luck, that landed me in this place
  615. So far from where I would be, if I had choice in this case
  616. Alas I'm born so far from His Light, it's sad
  617. It's a wistful dream to leave here, every Nakki's had.
  618.
  619.

  621. PURPLE AND SCARRED - A BYNNERS SONG
  622.
  623. Purpled and scarred. Oh, what a life
  624. From sun up to sun down, I give a grebbers tithe
  625. Toiling and digging through sand, rocks, and scrub
  626. I keep doing it because it's the thing that I lub!
  627.
  628. Purpled and scarred. Oh, what a life!
  629. I once sold shirt to get one good skinning knife!
  630. I figured that the ritikki I caught
  631. Would replace all the coins, for the shirt I had lost
  632.
  633. Purpled and scarred. Oh, what a life!
  634. I really need something better to do at night!
  635. I drink and carouse, with nary a care
  636. I even tattooed my face on a drunken kruth dare!
  637.

  639. SUN KINGS PROPHECY
  640.
  641. Darkness gathers overhead, falling with soft intention to those below. A victory… turned to defeat. A deed done in ignorance will set the world awash with anger.
  642.
  643. Wasted lands will fall victim, as swooping shadows solidfy a stone saber will shatter the earth.
  644.
  645. A time of ash shall mark the rise of the cities. Days of old shall be new once more.
  646.
  647. What was once opposite shall join as one - fire and water will mingle, the union will tremble the earth.
  648.
  649. When eyeless beasts comb the land, then shall be the time for all tribes to gather. The march must be made, or the path will be lost.
  650.
  651. Look for my warnings. Only if we march as one will we there be victory.
  652.
  653. Walk in My light, my people.
  654.
  655.
  656. =============================================================
  657. KEEP THE PATH - A SONG ABOUT THE PROPHECY
  658.
  659. Upon the land, the vermin do gather
  660. While the Ivory does prepare
  661. From each caste, all drawn together
  662. Faith in His Light they share.
  663.
  664. In times of darkness
  665. While the path is unclear
  666. Those are times to harken
  667. Lest we fall to crippling fear.
  668.
  669. His Wisdom was for all
  670. The meaning clear to see
  671. Our enemy the eyeless
  672. Stand firm, before the Tuluki tree
  673.
  674. United the tribes must stand
  675. Each with its own strength
  676. The twelve of the Gol-Krath land
  677. To keep the path, travel its length
  678.
  679.
  680.
  681.

  683. DUET BETWEEN LIFESWORN LOVERS - Elrum/Youko
  684.
  685. *Female
  686. I hear your soft uneasy breaths,
  687. exhaling warmth next to mine
  688. As we fumble over things to say
  689. Mouthing words that cease to rhyme.
  690.
  691. +Male
  692. I feel your silken hair
  693. It cascades pleasant over hand
  694. Distracting me from thoughts of other things
  695. Growing silence, more than I can stand.
  696.
  697. *Female
  698. each stab of silence rakes my heart
  699. draws tears that crack a fragile rib
  700. you glance at me, bemused and wry
  701. though my ink stops at the nib
  702.
  703. my mind is swarmed with second-guessing
  704. yours as blank as the swirling sea
  705. so vague and obscure you hide yourself
  706. from the world, sweet love, and me
  707.
  708. but i plead and beg and hope and dream
  709. you'll turn back and see i'm sane
  710. i am more than just a smitten girl
  711. high on tea and sunny days
  712.
  713. +Male
  714. Every passing moment,
  715. a part of me is lost
  716. bit by bit my soul is ripped
  717. I wonder, are you worth the cost?
  718.
  719. My heart is fluttering with worry
  720. Your own steady as cold stone
  721. at peace with everything around
  722. I just can't help but feel alone...
  723.
  724. I hope you never see my fear
  725. and only know my surety
  726. I'm not just a little boy
  727. I'm your devoted love, in obscurity.
  728.
  729. *Female
  730. now turn around and face my smile,
  731. no need for us to act so coy
  732. i am a kenku who's fallen for you,
  733. now will you be my fiery boy?
  734.
  735. +Male
  736. Only if you take my heart
  737. There's no sense in hiding our tale
  738. I'm yours if you but do your part
  739. Will you be my silver tongued girl?
  740.
  741.

  743. RIDDLE OF THE SOMETIMES MEAT - A puzzle with no right answer
  744.
  745. Once upon a time, in a southern field of the Gol.
  746. There was a tembo watching a rock as it rolled
  747.
  748.
  749. Now the tembo was a tembo so it was always hungry, you see
  750. It ate any tasty meat that just happened along its way
  751.
  752. However the rock wasn't just any old rock, you could guess
  753. It was sometimes a tasty juicy steak that no other meat could beat
  754.
  755. So as the song began, so did they meet
  756. The sometimes rock sometimes meat was rolling in the field
  757. While the tembo was watching it pondering a meal
  758.
  759.
  760. Now the second time they met, it wasn't just them
  761. Instead it was a whole bunch of tembo's all looking for tasty meat
  762.
  763. The tembo who'd seen the rock-meat before
  764. quickly told all the other tembos about the meal they had found
  765. When the other tembos looked, the sometimes meat looked like a rock
  766.

  810.
  811. For the dead,
  812. Do we sing,
  813. For the red,
  814. And the white of His wall.
  815.
  816. For the King,
  817. Do we serve,
  818. For the ring,

  823. A Funeral song for Apprentice Flame of Rusarla
  824.
  825. A wind howls through the boughs
  826. Branches bend, but don't break
  827. Leaves rustles in chorus'd sounds
  828. But few leaves, the wind takes
  829.
  830. Lost to the whole, but not forgotten
  831. With each lost leaf is a seed planted
  832.
  833. His Light shines upon the Gol Krathu tree
  834. And beside it there are saplings from each fallen leaf
  835. Memories that hearten all those who keep
  836.
  837. Remember the leaf which sang in our chorus
  838. Keep close the seed it plants when it's gone
  839. Know comfort that the song will continue on.
