  41. [21:36] <~Garlyle> While waiting for your next job, the newest member of the Syldra's Crew, Moguka, floats her way onto the deck. "Kupokupokupo~" She seems... excited, carrying a flyer with her.

  43. [21:38] <Shjn> Standing off in the corner, Shjn is nearly fully concealed by the shadows of the deck, but he watches Moguka in amusement. He'd taken a liking to the little Moogle ever since she came on board. "Someone's seen the sunshine today, I take it. What's going on in that big brain of yours, my dear?"
  44. [21:38] <Nami> Nami looks up from her work. "Hmm? What is it, Moguk--" The potion mix she was brewing suddenly volcanoes out of the vial! "A!"
  45. 06[21:40] * Rohgas is leaning against a railing, looking out to sea. "Caaareful Nami... your experiments are starting to frighten me after some of the past incidents."
  46. 06[21:40] * Thelosa-Aisa is sitting nearby, surrounded by books and various esoteric-seeming texts. He pushes his glasses up on his face. "Salutations."
  47. [21:40] <~Garlyle> "Iiiiit's the Colosseum, Kupo!" she flies up to Shjn, handing him the sheet. "This tourney, it's so kupo!"
  48. [21:41] <~Garlyle> The flyer mentions today's date, apparently set later in the evening. There's lots of these flyers, they're actually pretty common since there's always battles going down at the Colosseum.
  49. [21:42] <~Garlyle> The reward this time is apparently some doodad called the Relay Radar. It doesn't sound particularly exciting.
  50. [21:42] <Shjn> Looking over the sheet, Shjn's eyes scroll past line after line. His grin blossoms more and more as he reads. "Well, my little Moogle, I take it you have plans regarding this Colosseum, kupo?" Shjn's addition of the Moogle slip seems natural in his speech. One might mistake him for a Moogle if they had not seen him before.
  51. 06[21:42] * Thelosa-Aisa looks up from his reading for a second to glance at the flyer, then returns to his work. "Hardly a competition befitting adventurers of our calibur..."
  52. [21:43] <Rohgas> This seems to peeks Rohgas' interest and he walks over to Shjn and Moguka. "A tourney huh?" He starts stretching his arms out and looks excited. "Sounds like a good way to keep my strength up!"
  53. [21:44] <~Garlyle> "C'mon, c'mon, I'm gonna need your guys help, kupo! Pleeeeeease?" her wings flap frantically, carrying her over to Aisa to look at him with big moogle eyes
  54. [21:44] <Nami> "Not to mention," Nami mentioned, "we are a little strapped for cash at the moment. Any tournament reward should help immensely. Even if there's a prize for showing up."
  55. [21:45] <~Garlyle> "It'll be easy! Easy as kupo, promise! We're strong enough to win, right?"
  56. [21:46] <Shjn> "Perhaps we should entertain our little Moogle's wishes, friends," Shjn says, striding into the light. The sun seems to glint off the red fur of his ears, playing a sort of corona, a halo about him. "After all, it could be the kupo idea we need to launch ourselves into the lap of luxury, eh?"
  57. [21:46] <Thelosa-Aisa> "I ran off to this crew to get *away* from worrying about money and debts..." Aisa shuts his current book with a pouty look on his face. "Fine."
  58. 06[21:46] * Rohgas gives a thumbs up and smiles broadly, bearing his Ronso fangs. "Right! Should be no problem for us!"
  59. [21:47] <Nami> Nami took her hat, and bowed with a bit of a sweep. "Well then, when does the tournament begin?"
  60. [21:48] <~Garlyle> "It starts in..." Moguka stares at the sheet a little, then flips over in mid-air in shock. "Oh kupo! Hold on, I gotta go tell Cid -right now- if we wanna get there in time, kupo!"
  61. [21:49] <~Garlyle> And she darts off below deck with all the speed a Moogle can muster (You'd be surprised how fast they can fly!)
  62. [21:50] <Shjn> (Sorry. I had to go agree to drive my brother to TN around 9 AM tomorrow. URGH.)

  72. [21:52] <~Garlyle> The crowds around the Colosseum aren't so big today. Seems that most people aren't interested in a tournament with such a seemingly worthless prize - or maybe it's just because down here, where strength is worshipped as a great quality, a bit of technology just doesn't attract that many strong competitors. This should be cake.
  73. [21:53] <~Garlyle> It may or may not be your first time being here. This is the mandatory arena area of the world afterall!
  74. 06[21:55] * Shjn bears an inpenetrable grin on his face as he pats Aisa's head. "Fear not, little one. Here is where money is made and fame is found, the games are glorious, and the simply spectacular scenes of battle are splendid."
  75. [21:56] <Rohgas> "And winning ain't half bad either!"
  76. [21:56] <Shjn> "That it is, boy."
  77. 06[21:56] * Thelosa-Aisa sighs and leans on his rod. "Glorious usually means a bigger crowd than this. I don't doubt we'll win, but it doesn't look like it'd be much of an accomplishment if we do."
  78. [21:58] <Nami> "Still, for the people who showed up today, we might as well put on a show," Nami insisted, tipping her hat.
  79. [21:58] <Shjn> "Buck up and chin up, I always say. It's my motto. One of them, anyway." Shjn twirls gracefully before leaning against the rails before the colosseum. "We'll pull in plenty. Oh, Moguka~" he calls.
  80. [21:58] <~Garlyle> Moguka floats alongside the party. "Yeskupo?"
  81. [21:58] <Rohgas> "So what... be flashy and extravagant? I'm a samurai not a magician."
  82. [21:59] <Shjn> "Will you be joining us in our little escapades in the ring, dear?" Shjn says, batting at her little Moogle ball playfully.
  83. [22:01] <Nami> Nami grins, and nudges Rohgas. "Doesn't mean you can't be a little more badass when you fight today," she noted. "People love a good single stroke battle."
  84. [22:01] <~Garlyle> Moguka flips in mid-air. "Of course, kupo!"
  85. [22:01] <Rohgas> "Heh..." Rohgas then pats the handle of his katana that is currently in its sheathe on the left side of his waist. "That I can do."
  86. [22:02] <~Garlyle> Just so we can get a little bit of practice with using Skills in this system, let's get you guys to roll Awareness to size up the competition properly. You're experienced so it's easy enough - a +20.
  87. 06[22:02] * Thelosa-Aisa ponders as he taps his rod on the ground, his eyes settling on the ruby set in the handle. A small smile crosses his face. "Oh we'll put on a show then, but promise me you won't pull your punches this time."

  89. [22:03] <~Garlyle> (skills are done via a percentile system, like capture rolls in PTA; roll 1d100, and your objective is to roll equal to or less than your skill +/- the modifier for difficulty)

  91. [22:03] <Shjn> "Ah, then all will be well. With such a magnificent Moogle like yourself, the hopes for victory could not be higher," Shjn says, nearly plucking her out of the air in excitement. "Rohgas, my boy, do not worry much your pretty head. I will be the lights and glamour. You just be the... muscle, eh?"

  110. [22:10] <Rohgas> "Well... I was hoping to hone my skills but..." he laughs pretty heartily for a bit, "Oh well... let's at least have fun and show them what real adventurers can do."
  111. [22:10] <Thelosa-Aisa> "Don't be. You want your fame, right? And lookit that guy over there." Aisa points at someone in the crowd with his rod. "He seems like he may be more of a challenge. nothing to us still, of course."
  112. [22:11] <~Garlyle> "...Who are you talking about, kupo?"
  113. [22:11] <Shjn> "Hah! Such adorable little lambs. We'll shake them up a bit, eh? Take home the gold and sleep soundly," Shjn says, confident as ever. He turns to the group, though, his face the epitome of serious, suddenly. "I wouldn't get too inflated. They might rain on your parade." Then his face brightens and he says, "Kidding, of course."
  114. [22:11] <~Garlyle> There doesn't seem to be anyone where Aisa's pointing. Was he seeing things, or?
  115. [22:12] <Thelosa-Aisa> "...Guy in a red cloak. Must've scared him off when I pointed my rod over at him. Know he has it coming when he faces us." Aisa continues to tap the ground with his rod.
  116. [22:12] <~Garlyle> (I can't help but hear shantotto when Aisa speaks. This is bad, I have to mentally remind myself Aisa is a boy)
  117. [22:12] <Rohgas> "Haha... you and your jokes Shjn. Still... let's try not to beat them too badly!"

  119. [22:14] <Thelosa-Aisa> (...how much worse would it be if I started making everything rhyme? Would you have a hard time?)

  122. [22:16] <Shjn> "Keep your wits about you, boy," Shjn replies, sweeping a lock of blonde hair back behind his ear. He turns to look down on the ring. "Perhaps they should start soon..."

  127. [22:18] <~Garlyle> You're all familiar with the Colosseum proceedings. You get to watch a couple of the fights in the first round from your seats. It's... well okay, these guys aren't terrible - this is the Rose Union afterall, even children from here can be great fighters! - but it's still a little disappointing.
  128. [22:18] <~Garlyle> The crowd that has gathered isn't exactly too thrilled either, except the ones that love battle of any sort.
  129. [22:18] <~Garlyle> Then, you get called out for your first round of combat
  130. [22:19] <~Garlyle> Across from you is a man with a pack of angry-looking wolves. "Awrighty, you guys look like you'll make a nice snack fer my wolves!"
  131. [22:20] <Thelosa-Aisa> "Plebians. Could at least try for a proper summoned beast if you're going that path..." Aisa mutters quietly to himself.
  132. 06[22:21] * Rohgas slowly unsheathes his katana and twirls it a bit in a flourish. "Let us do our best... and fight honorably." Rohgas' personality seems to have taken a 180 from his usual light-hearted banter... though you are all used to this by now.
  133. 06[22:21] * Shjn twitches his rabbit ears at the pack, taunting them from afar. "They look... scary." His hands wave to his face in mock-fear and visible are the serrated, red-tinted claws he wields. "I might faint right here."
  134. [22:21] <Nami> Nami draws her rapier, folds her sword arm over her chest, and bows sportingly. "Let us hope your canines make sporting adversaries!" she calls out across the field.
  135. [22:22] <~Garlyle> The wolves bound forward hungrily; their trainer, however, steps back. Clearly he's a little too cowardly to be directly involved in the fighting himself.
