  1. International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy:
  2.
  3. The wizard would is hidden today. The Ministry of Magic tries everything to take care, that no Muggle, who is not supposed to know, sees any kind of magic. Special forces are educated to make Muggles forget, what they saw, and make them get the feeling, that they should not go to that place, where wizards have an event, what the Muggle doesn't know ofcourse.
  4.
  5. The secrecy is an important part of the magical community. It was always a thing in debates, since we can remember. Laws were fixed to hide magical events, to hide magical creatures and beings, to prevent, that Muggles see it. Magic lost it's importance in the Muggle world. They started to believe in god and to fear witches and wizards, due to the fact, that their power didn't origin from god.
  6.
  7. But the magical society decided to hide completely very late. It is written in the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy, also known as International Statute of Secrecy or International Code of Secrecy. It was formed by the International Confederation of Wizards. The British Wizard's Council signed in 1689, but the discussion led to establishment, so that it got officially in 1692. This law caused that the wizarding community hid completely from Muggles.

  9. There were multiple reasons, why the wizarding world decided to take that step. The main reason might be the upcoming witch-hunt in the late medieval phases. In the fifteenth and sixteenth century the relation between Muggles and wizards reached the worst point. The Inquisition set in and many men went out to catch and burn witches and witchers; all commissioned by the Church and the Pope. But Protestant churchmen also demanded the burning of witches. Witches and wizards started to live two lives. They concealed their use of magic by charms. But many witches and wizards still got caught and inprisoned and later sentenced to death, such as Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington, today known as the Gryffindor house ghost, the nearly headless Nick, who was executed in 1492. Other witches and wizards could escape, such as Lisette de Lapin, who disappeared from her cell in the prison at the day before her execution was scheduled at. It is said that she was an Animagus, turning into an animal that was small enough to pass the iron bars of the cell window.

  11. An exception of both is Wendelin the Weird, who often managed to be caught by Muggles (47 times in total). The witch hunters burned her, but she used the Flame-Freezing Charm, so that the flames were harmless and just caused a gentle tickling sensation, that Wendelin enjoyed.
  12.
  13. The International Statute of Secrecy also consisted a guidline how to dress in presence of Muggles, as well as sport rules, that banned wizards from participating Muggle sports.
  14.
  15. The new formed Government of the British Wizardding Community, the Ministry of Magic, decided to act a way laissez-faire and informed the British monarch about the existance of the Wizarding World. This was done by a special Ministry Delegation. This got justified by the reason to protect wizards and witches under the Muggle laws. Only the leader, today the Premier, knew and know about our existence.
  16.
  17. The International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy got expanded multiple times. One of the youngest clauses that were added, is the Decree on the Reasonable Limitation of the Magic of Minors from 1875, that supervise and prevent the abuse of magic by minors.
