  1. 4.10. Bait Fish Use in the Southern
  2. District.
  3. Except as provided below, live or dead fin fish
  4. shall not be used or possessed for use as bait
  5. in the Southern District:
  6. (a) Dead threadfin shad and live or dead
  7. longjaw mudsucker may be used in all Southern
  8. District waters.
  9. (b) Live threadfin shad may be used only at the
  10. location where taken.
  11. (c) Golden shiner and red shiner may be used
  12. in San Diego County.
  13. 4.15. Bait Fish Use in the Colorado
  14. River District.
  15. Except as provided below, live or dead fin fish
  16. shall not be used or possessed for use as bait
  17. in the Colorado River District:
  18. (a) Live or dead golden shiner, fathead minnow,
  19. red shiner, mosquitofish, longjaw mudsucker,
  20. threadfin shad, goldfish, sunfish, molly, and
  21. dead carp may be used in all Colorado River
  22. District waters.
  23. (b) Live carp may be used only at the location
  24. where taken.
  25. (c) Tilapia may be used in the Salton Sea,
  26. and may be taken for bait only within the area
  27. bounded by Highway 111 on the north and east
  28. and Highway 86 on the west and south (except
  29. as in subsection (d) below.
  30. (d) Tilapia may be taken and used for bait in the
  31. Colorado River and its associated backwaters
  32. only within the area bounded by Palo Verde
  33. Diversion Dam south to the Morelos Dam.
  34. NOTE: See subsection 4.05(b).
  35. 4.20. Bait Fish Use in the Valley and
  36. South Central Districts.
  37. Except as provided below, live or dead fin fish
  38. shall not be used or possessed for use as bait
  39. in the Valley or South Central District:
  40. (a) Live or dead golden shiner, fathead minnow,
  41. mosquitofish, longjaw mudsucker, and staghorn
  42. sculpin, and dead threadfin shad, Mississippi
  43. silverside and lamprey may be used in all Valley
  44. and South Central District waters except those
  45. listed in subsection (f) below.
  46. (b) Red shiner may be used only in the Valley
  47. District north of Interstate 580 and Highway 132.
  48. (c) Yellowfin gobies may be used in the
  49. Valley District only in those areas described in
  50. subsections (d)(1)-(3) below.
  51. (d) In addition, except for trout and salmon,
  52. fin fish lawfully taken in the following waters by
  53. angling or with bait fish methods approved in
  54. Section 4.05 may be used only in the waters
  55. where taken:
  56. (1) Carquinez Strait and Suisun Bay and their
  57. tributaries and saltwater tributaries.
  58. (2) Sacramento River and tidewater of
  59. tributaries downstream from the Highway
  60. 32 bridge near Hamilton City, Feather River
  61. downstream from the Oroville Hatchery Fish
  62. Barrier Dam, Yuba River downstream from
  63. Daguerre Point Dam, and American River
  64. downstream from Nimbus Dam.
  65. (3) San Joaquin River and tidewater of
  66. tributaries downstream from Interstate 5
  67. bridge.
  68. (e) Live threadfin shad, Mississippi silverside
  69. and lamprey may be used only at the location
  70. where taken.
  71. (f) Fin fish may not be used in Keller Lake
  72. (Glenn Co.), Letts Lake (Colusa Co.), Merced
  73. Lake (San Francisco Co.), Upper and Lower
  74. Plaskett Meadow Ponds (Glenn Co.), Whale
  75. Rock Reservoir (San Luis Obispo Co.).
  76. 4.25. Bait Fish Use in the North
  77. Central District.
  78. Except as provided below, live or dead fin fish
  79. shall not be used or possessed for use as bait
  80. in the North Central District:
  81. (a) Golden shiner, fathead minnow, red shiner,
  82. mosquitofish, longjaw mudsucker and staghorn
  83. sculpin may be used in Napa and Sonoma
  84. counties, in Marin County except for Stafford
  85. Lake, in Lake County except for the Eel River
  86. and its tributaries, and in Lake Mendocino
  87. (Mendocino Co.).
  88. (b) Live threadfin shad, Mississippi silverside
  89. and lamprey may be used only at the location
  90. where taken.
  91. 4.30. Bait Fish Use in the Sierra and
  92. North Coast Districts.
  93. Except as provided below, live or dead fin fish
  94. shall not be used or possessed for use as bait
  95. in the Sierra and North Coast Districts.
  96. (a) In Donner, Fallen Leaf and Tahoe lakes
  97. Lahontan redside, tui chub, Tahoe sucker,
  98. Lahontan speckled dace, mountain sucker and
  99. Paiute sculpin may be used only in the same
  100. lake where taken.
  101. (b) In Shasta Lake only golden shiner, red
  102. shiner, fathead minnows, mosquitofish and
  103. threadfin shad may be used or possessed for
  104. use as bait.
  105. (c) Crayfish shall not be used for bait in the
  106. Pit River and all tributaries between Pit 3 Dam
  107. (Lake Britton) and the Fall River-Cassel Road
  108. Bridge at Fall River Mills, California (includes
  109. Hat Creek and Fall River and their tributaries).
