  1. http://eeemac.blogspot.com/2009/03/install-os-x-on-eee-pc-900a-901-1000.html --most of the guide
  2. http://www.enik.ch/2009/03/osx-leopard-1056-on-the-eee-1000h/ --alternate method
  3. http://www.macworld.com/article/53471/2006/10/sleepmode.html --stop it dumping ram to drive on sleep
  4.
  5. iPC dvd-works, boot with "Graphics Mode"="800x600x32"
  6.
  7. use bios in the alternate method if it doesn't boot with what it's got
  8.
  9. desktop wrong size-installing kexts fixed it first time, something un-fixed it(graphics related?), installing kexts again caused permanent kernel panic, probably best to remove them first XD
  10.
  11. drivers installed:
  12. intel gma 950
  13. intel ichx sata drivers
  14. cpus=1 fix
  15. firewire unmount fix
  16. ps/2 keyboard fix
  17. osx86 tools
  18. kext helper
  19. pacifist
  20. universal osx86 installer
  21.
  22. ...leave for a while...don't forget to cancel dvd check next time...
  23.
  24. copy over eee utilities.dmg
  25. install extra kexts --should fix screne resolution problems
  26. power management bundle
  27.
  28. audio<--use alternate method
  29. -works, just install the voodoohda.kext
  30.
  31. volume shortcuts-install and set up using spark
  32. (use spark to make a keybaord shortcut to pipe aswell, as pipe needs function key by default-not necessary, shift+hash key works, and key without shift for backslash)
  33.
  34. sleep mode->follow link at top
  35.
  36. brightness control on wakeup, and ethernet
  37. eee-utilities-fixes-dimming control wakeup
  38. just follow instructions
  39.
  40. speedstep:
  41. use first method, if installed the kexts from first method, or 2nd if used 2nd(i assume, only tested first)
  42.
  43. base setup done, rape that ssd with software, update appears to work, but is probably what caused the kernel panics last time
  44.
  45. 3.5G modem:
  46. follow instructions on webpage-works perfectly, need seperate program for sending/recieving texts though
  47.
  48. overall:
  49. quiet boot, quick boot on
  50. boot booster off
  51. hyper-threading on
  52. no wireless yet, card in the post
  53. audio works, sudio out works, one mic works, haven't tested audio in jack
  54.
  55. overall performance is good, startup is about 30 seconds or so, pretty average, shutdown is fast unless updating boot or something
  56.
  57.
  58. geekbench score: 677  -odd, something's not right, everyone else gets 900 or so
  59. ...0 processors, 1 thread, 1 core
  60. ...so looks liek hyperthreading isn't working
  61.
  62.
  63. with HT enabled:629 (call it 650, few things running, 0 processors, 1 thread)
  64.
  65. HT disabled:666 =^-^= tis a doomsday machine lol
  66. 0 processors, 1 thread, speedstep turned on for both
  67. scores 701 with speedstep off
  68.
  69.
  70. ---------------------------------------------------------
  71.
  72.
  73. removed cpus=1 from com.apple.Boot.plist  -at boot gave error 'errors pausing 5 seconds or something'
  74. (speedstep off for both tests)
  75.
  76. HT off:
  77. 668-(o cpu, 1 thread)
  78.
  79. HT on: (fingers crossed)-(error is 'errors encountered while starting up the computer pausing 5 seconds'  something wrong with the boot.plist?
  80. 921!!!
  81. processors 1, threads 2, cores 2
  82.
  83. yay!
  84.
  85. so to summarise, if you remove the cpus=1 boot flag
  86. /Library/Preferences/Systemconfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist
  87.
  88. might need cpus=1 just for install, someone else can experiment with that
  89.
  90. boot error fixed-i left the <key></key> section above cpus=1 in the file, so it got that error
  91.
  92. ...scratch that 938 :D
