- http://eeemac.blogspot.com/2009/03/install-os-x-on-eee-pc-900a-901-1000.html --most of the guide
- http://www.enik.ch/2009/03/osx-leopard-1056-on-the-eee-1000h/ --alternate method
- http://www.macworld.com/article/53471/2006/10/sleepmode.html --stop it dumping ram to drive on sleep
- iPC dvd-works, boot with "Graphics Mode"="800x600x32"
- use bios in the alternate method if it doesn't boot with what it's got
- desktop wrong size-installing kexts fixed it first time, something un-fixed it(graphics related?), installing kexts again caused permanent kernel panic, probably best to remove them first XD
- drivers installed:
- intel gma 950
- intel ichx sata drivers
- cpus=1 fix
- firewire unmount fix
- ps/2 keyboard fix
- osx86 tools
- kext helper
- pacifist
- universal osx86 installer
- ...leave for a while...don't forget to cancel dvd check next time...
- copy over eee utilities.dmg
- install extra kexts --should fix screne resolution problems
- power management bundle
- audio<--use alternate method
- -works, just install the voodoohda.kext
- volume shortcuts-install and set up using spark
- (use spark to make a keybaord shortcut to pipe aswell, as pipe needs function key by default-not necessary, shift+hash key works, and key without shift for backslash)
- sleep mode->follow link at top
- brightness control on wakeup, and ethernet
- eee-utilities-fixes-dimming control wakeup
- just follow instructions
- speedstep:
- use first method, if installed the kexts from first method, or 2nd if used 2nd(i assume, only tested first)
- base setup done, rape that ssd with software, update appears to work, but is probably what caused the kernel panics last time
- 3.5G modem:
- follow instructions on webpage-works perfectly, need seperate program for sending/recieving texts though
- overall:
- quiet boot, quick boot on
- boot booster off
- hyper-threading on
- no wireless yet, card in the post
- audio works, sudio out works, one mic works, haven't tested audio in jack
- overall performance is good, startup is about 30 seconds or so, pretty average, shutdown is fast unless updating boot or something
- geekbench score: 677 -odd, something's not right, everyone else gets 900 or so
- ...0 processors, 1 thread, 1 core
- ...so looks liek hyperthreading isn't working
- with HT enabled:629 (call it 650, few things running, 0 processors, 1 thread)
- HT disabled:666 =^-^= tis a doomsday machine lol
- 0 processors, 1 thread, speedstep turned on for both
- scores 701 with speedstep off
- ---------------------------------------------------------
- removed cpus=1 from com.apple.Boot.plist -at boot gave error 'errors pausing 5 seconds or something'
- (speedstep off for both tests)
- HT off:
- 668-(o cpu, 1 thread)
- HT on: (fingers crossed)-(error is 'errors encountered while starting up the computer pausing 5 seconds' something wrong with the boot.plist?
- 921!!!
- processors 1, threads 2, cores 2
- yay!
- so to summarise, if you remove the cpus=1 boot flag
- /Library/Preferences/Systemconfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist
- might need cpus=1 just for install, someone else can experiment with that
- boot error fixed-i left the <key></key> section above cpus=1 in the file, so it got that error
- ...scratch that 938 :D
