  1. Hello,
  2. This is William Etundi, one of the partners at Artists Wanted.  This
  3. e-mail is going out to the 20 of you who had the most popular
  4. portfolio's in our recent competition, Exposure.  We want to reach out
  5. to you before we make the public announcement of who won the People's
  6. Choice award.  All of you are also still in the running for the grand
  7. prize, but with so many submissions of phenomenal quality, it will be
  8. a couple weeks before our judges will be done going through them all.
  9.
  10. The enthusiasm that came of this project was stunning.  Many of you
  11. had thousands of unique visitors see your portfolio.  A few of you
  12. became Internet sensations in your own right.
  13.
  14. The winner of the People's Choice award is Scott Irvine of Brooklyn
  15. NY.  Scott had nearly 3,000 people visit his page with well over 2,000
  16. votes cast and an average rating of 4.7 stars.  In close second and
  17. third was Ethan James of Murfreesboro, TN, and Qi Peng  of Salt Lake
  18. City, UT, who also had more than 2,000 votes each.  The way we
  19. tabulated the scoring was simply multiplying your total votes by your
  20. star rating.
  21.
  22. We are looking for opportunities for all of those who submitted to the
  23. Exposure competition, but especially for the 20 of you who have such
  24. highly rated portfolios.  Currently on our site your work is featured
  25. at:
  26.
  27. http://www.artistswanted.org/exposure/
  28.
  29. Also, Artists Wanted is partnering with TheDanger and 3rd Ward
  30. Brooklyn on a massive art party happening in Brooklyn this Saturday.
  31. We'd like to feature your photos digitally projected at the event.
  32. This is a great opportunity to have your work seen be several hundred
  33. people.
  34.
  35. If you are interested in having your work displayed, simply reply to
  36. this message with 5 to 6 images that you'd like to show, or we can
  37. show the work you have in your portfolio.  If you live in the New York
  38. City area, come to the event and you will be treated like a star with
  39. free entrance and free drinks all night.  Simply, reply to this
  40. message and I'll make sure you are taken care of.
  41.
  42. Details on the party are below.
  43.
  44. Thanks again for participating in Exposure.

  48. -------------------------------------
  49.
  50. This Saturday, June 28th you are invited to the opening of:
  51.
  52. Dubai:Brooklyn
  53. http://www.dubaibrooklyn.com
  54. Art : Music : Performance
  55. Made exquisitely out of control.
  56.
  57. Dubai is:
  58. A metaphor and a warning.  This is the story of the
  59. shifting center of the world, of art vs. commerce and the
  60. blurring of lines between principled escapism and
  61. unbridled hedonism.  We are building out a space that is a
  62. celebration of the human extreme.  As the world shifts
  63. from under us, this is your great escape.
  64.
  65. (But all the above is really just a heady excuse for a series
  66. of events that are intoxicatingly out-of-control.)
  67.
  68. Dubai Looks Like:
  69. 14,000 sqft. of intimate spaces, interactive art
  70. installations, spontaneous performance, a massive
  71. dance-floor and perfected sound-systems raising the volume
  72. on these hot summer nights.  Over the course of the coming
  73. months, we will be building and evolving the space with a
  74. team of artists from Peripheral Media Projects/Ad-Hoc Art,
  75. ArtistsWanted.org, The Madagascar Institute, 3rd Ward Brooklyn,
  76. The Lady Circus and more.  Expect a new experience with each party.
  77.
  78. Dubai Sounds Like:
  79. This Saturday the music will rise from classic 45s, to funk,
  80. house and electro-beats to a special Space Hause set
  81. bringing in the sunrise and beyond.
  82.
  83. Featuring:
  84. Within the Grand Mirage: the acclaimed DJ Duane, $mall
  85. hange, Mr. Finewine of WFMU and the Brooklyn favorite:
  86. Zemi17.
  87.
  88. In the downstairs Dome of Dubai:
  89. The Amoeba Collective brings a full-scale gamelan
  90. installation with dozens of instruments shipped from
  91. Indonesia and the eery beauty of Dok on Therimin.  This
  92. set is something that needs to be experienced to be
  93. believed.  After, the Burning Man collective ImageNode
  94. takes over with Morgan Packard of Microcosm playing
  95. abstract and sexy live PA ambient electronics, Skillcrane
  96. with live PA laptop and guitar duo loved by hoboes
  97. worldwide and dj Borne welcomes the morning with a dub,
  98. experimental, downtempo DJ set.
  99.
  100. Dubai Feels Like:
  101. That sticky insane summer party offering the best of this
  102. city when all boundaries are abandoned.  Expect a little
  103. sweat, lust and passion plus a touch of heady Danger with:
  104. roving gypsy cacophony by the beautifully fierce Lady
  105. Circus; out-sized sculpture by Ryan O'Conner; the Golden
  106. Bough by Project D. in the Arboreal Room;  live silk
  107. screen installation by Peripheral Media Projects; and a
  108. double-dose of fire from Squiddle and Mr. Kennedy.
  109.
  110. Dubai Tastes Like:
  111. Absinthe and hookahs, sweat and cherries, cocktails and
  112. the lips of your next great love.  Beyond the usual
  113. underground party fare, we have upgraded our bar options
  114. with a range from cheap beer to the best Absinthe in the
  115. city.  On the open-air terrace we will be serving high-end
  116. down-home Brooklyn eats from the Urban Gourmet.
  117.
  118. Dubai is at:
  119. 341 Scholes St., Bushwick Brooklyn.
  120. (You may have seen this space before, but never like this.
  121. Now we have the *entire* building.)
  122.
  123. Take the L train to Montrose Ave, walk two blocks north to
  124. Scholes and three blocks east to the location.
  125. Listen for the music.
  126.
  127. Arrive after 11pm and stay past sunrise.
  128. $15 with RSVP at: http://www.dubaibrooklyn.com
  129. $20 without.
