  27. Dying Breed interweaves the two most fascinating icons of
  28. Tasmanian history: the extinct Tasmanian tiger and "The
  29. Pieman" (aka Alexander Pearce) who was hanged for
  30. cannibalism in 1824. Against all odds, Pearce escaped
  31. from the most feared penal settlement of the British
  32. Empire - Sarah Island - and disappeared into the
  33. impenetrable forests of Western Tasmania. Seven convicts
  34. escaped with him, yet Pearce was the only one that
  35. emerged... along with chunks of human flesh in his
  36. pockets. The legend of Pearce was born. An extinct
  37. species... a long forgotten legend... both had a
  38. desperate need to survive both could now have living
  39. descendants within the Tasmanian bush. Many sightings of
  40. the tiger have been reported. Many hikers have gone
  41. missing. Hundreds in fact. Zoologist Nina is convinced
  42. there are still tigers remaining in the Tasmanian
  43. wilderness, and she has proof - a photograph of a paw
  44. print snapped by her sister just before she met with a
  45. fatal accident in the bush eight years before. Unable to
  46. attain funding for an expedition, Nina fears her wish to
  47. finish her sister's work (and perhaps lay to rest
  48. recurrent nightmares she has about her sister's death)
  49. will never happen. Her partner, Matt, manages to persuade
  50. an old mate Jack to help finance the trip - at a price.
  51. Jack brings along a girlfriend, Rebecca, who uses the
  52. trip as an escape from her stifling real estate job. On
  53. their quest to find the extinct tiger, the group venture
  54. deep into isolated territory and into the domain of
  55. "Pieman" descendants. "Sarah" is a small township that
  56. passionately upholds its cannibalistic heritage in honour
  57. of the convict patriarch that gave birth to it. It needs
  58. to stay hidden to survive... but it also needs fresh
  59. "stock" to breed. The four hunters become the hunted.
