- A letter to the Editor
- "Some have seen no as the dull, safe choice.
- But it could be something very different:
- the beginning of a new joint enterprise
- for the four nations of the UK, the chance
- to reforge our union – to spread power,
- to break the paralysis and centralisation
- of Westminster, to fix a system that is broken."
- Rus(t)bridger [sic]
- (Prisoner Intro. Especially the shouty desk slamming bit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhnTMxHOWlY)
- I'm going to hold you to that promise Mr. Rusty (Magic Roundabout Applies)
- I stopped buying the Guardian over the Gaza coverage. A meaningless protest
- but it made me feel that at least I was doing something.
- I returned to join the Peterlooers over your support for the Liberals.
- Thinking well anyone can make a mistake. let's make sure the Graun realises
- it. But this is the final straw.
- I had hoped, foolishly, that at least -in this- the Guardian would be have
- been true to its roots.
- After centuries of fighting for the oppressed and those without a voice;
- we saw article after article: toeing the Establishment line; parroting the
- government propaganda without the slightest bit of investigation.
- BTL, your 'news' was quickly refuted. The balance between pro- and anti-
- independance was monitored and found to be biased.
- You even reported the fact yourself or rather George Monbiot did. HT.
- So now I'm not even bothering to read your rag FOC at the local library.
- Instead I'll be online, adblocking (Advertisers please note.) ...and
- watching you like a hawk.
- Like many others. I suspect and as many as I can encourage: a cyber-horde
- of Argi (Argus plural? Anyone :)
- More people, like me: powerless, without a voice and without a meaningful
- vote.
- Short of putting up a paywall, you won't be able to keep us out.
- Like ramora stuck to a shark - we'll be there.
- You see, in the cybersea of: information, truthyness and downright
- propaganda; the netizen response is counter-intuitive.
- Trusted information sources are passed around freely, spread over
- facebook/ reddit and twitter with a click of a button.
- Memes, information and LOLKITTEZ spread across the globe at the speed of
- light (or damn near close.) in peer vetted networks.
- I know what is happening in Bahrain _right now_ through Twitter. If I
- trusted the Guardian on this I would be fumbling around in the dark.
- (Like the Establishment wants me to be.)
- However information sources that purport to provide news impartially
- but in truth are providing half-truths or even disinformation get
- *increasing* levels of critical BTL comment. Increasing levels of
- netizen surveillance and, increasingly, become a joke.
- Take the Biased Broadcasting Corporation: it now routinely has no
- comments at all under its web based news.
- Primarily because it found that its facts were refuted almost
- instantaneously by better reporting from on the ground.
- And then voted up to the top of the stack.
- Even when comments are allowed, the posts disappear from the BBC site with
- a speed only matched by the Daily Fail or the "Eeening Stannit"
- (Aside: A fun little game Guardianistas which I recommend to one and all.
- **But create a fake account first**
- No comments? No trust. No truth.
- ================================
- For the totally disaffected I can recommend the Telegraph as a place to
- decamp. A Fifth Column infiltration there, could serve us at a multitude
- of levels. I can highly recommend the comment software having used Discus
- extensively on the American sites I frequent under a different nym.
- It is also a bit of a challenge as one has to get into the mindset of the
- Torygraph reader so you can 'muck' their mindset without them realising it.
- Occasionally I get recommended. Result!
- The UK HuffPo needs us desperately. The comment there is appalling :)
- Taking it a wee bit closer to home Mr Rusty, I'll let you into a little
- secret. If you want an idea as to what is really going on in your rag
- re: Scotland/ Ukraine/ Wherever: ignore all that ATL guff and head for BTL.
- Before long you'll end up on Twitter. After all, Global Village wise,
- that's where the action is. That's where the real stories are broken.
- And the source of better analysis of the situation. And links to the real
- truths and real people out there and real journalism by the people: for
- the people.
- In this, the mighty Graun does provide a service; of sorts. All-be-it an
- unintentional one. But Sturgeon's Law applies and you have to wade through
- a lot of shite to get to the truth. In the end you *do* get there.
- But it's quicker on twitter.
- Here's a Vow from this Peterlooer: I'll be reminding you of that quote
- Mr. Rusty, on a daily basis.
- If you fail to campaign and push for a real democratic devolution of power
- -on a daily basis- (well... Sundays excepted.)
- We'll be there.
- If you fail to hold the Establishment to a swift enactment of the promises
- made to the Scots and now, the UK electorate en-masse.
- We'll be there.
- If you fail to fight for all of us to get an equal say in the future of the
- "UK."
- We'll be there.
- Mr Rusty, the Magic Roundabout is now Occupied. If you look very carefully
- you'll see my cybertent _/\_ there may be others.
- We are legion and no longer afraid to be anonymous.
- (Just ask your friends at the NSA/ GCHQ)
- +++
- Having said that: I don't hold out much hope my fellow CiFers,
- Guardianistas; Occupiers and the BTL proletariat in general.
- IM(Sad)O, post Snowdon, for obvious reasons: the mighty Graun
- is now in thrall to the Five Eyes.
- or should that be the one lidless eye in Mordor.
- Or on the dollar bill...
- We shall see, what we shall see.
- Be Cing U
- (Prisoner Be seeing you mix http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QY9oWfkKt6A)
