  1. <@Greymane> greymane: So, I've been mentally kicking around a project idea for a bit. Can I run it by you?
  2. <@Greymane> Colapso: Yes! o.o
  3. <@Greymane> greymane: So! Unshaped Group Project. The idea is to build a setting that is a single city with as much detail as possible. It starts out with a single core, probably a building or maybe a person. Then people branch off from there, picking one aspect of it to detail.
  4. <@Greymane> greymane: Say, for example, the core if a bar and it's mentioned that there is a popular brand of wine. Someone else could then take that and detail the winery that makes it or the owner who happens to be a vampire or whatever. Or they could describe the general neighborhood around the bar and other people fill in spots where they feel like it.
  5. <@Greymane> greymane: The only guidelines would be "No power base is uncontested," which means there isn't, for example "THE Crimelord!" but elbow room for lots of crimelords all struggling with each other.
  6. <@Greymane> greymane: Also that you should avoid absolute declorations of indivigual ability i.e. "The Most Powerful Wizard in the realm!" in favor of reputation i.e. "The most RECOGNIZED Wizard in the realm," ect...
  7. <@Greymane> greymane: Also, compliment, don't contridict. If someone else establishes the city has a big naval fleet, don't suddenly put the city on a flying mountain a hundred miles in the sky.
  8. <@Greymane> Colapso: That is... a nifty idea!
  9. <@Greymane> Colapso thumbs up
  10. <@Greymane> greymane: \o/
  11. <@Greymane> Colapso: Not even a setting? Just throwing it out there randomly?
  12. <@Greymane> greymane: Basically! The idea is to kinda build the setting as it goes, though mostly through inference. The focus is entirely on the one city, with the view of the outside world limited and shaped by it's interactions with that city.
