- Mundo Goes Where Lee Pleases.
- Introduction
- Hi there! My name is Reevezy and I’m an Australian that plays on the NA server, I main Lee Sin and I have done so for months now, Lee Sin is pretty easy to pick up but to unleash his full potential you need to practice a lot.
- This guide will focus on my style of play and build preferences you shouldn’t follow it too much, experiment and see what works for you. It also assumes you have a slight idea of what his abilities can do, I’m not going to explain them in every detail.
- Why do I play Lee? His kit is extremely solid, every ability can be used together and none of the abilities are solely for dealing damage they all have a secondary use. His whole kit synchronises well with his ult to make it one of the more devastating ults in the game if used correctly, that’s a big topic I’ll get into that later.
- The Attack
- Lee Sin's power comes from his utility, if you try and 1v1 someone in a fist fight without a health advantage or a team mate to back you up and you will probably lose, instead you will need to do something that a lot of people struggle with on melee champions, kiting.
- What is kiting?
- Kiting is dealing damage while taking minimal damage yourself; for the most part kiting with lee sin is either a poke or stalling for a team mate to arrive.
- The poke with lee sin is more useful in a laning position than jungle to do this you dash to your enemy usually via your Q, deal some damage and W out before the enemy can react. This Q > W combo is a great thing to use to escape from people as well; I’ll cover this later on.
- When there is a team mate nearby it is sometimes better to stall the enemy than to run. This obviously depends on your health and how quick they will be able to kill you.
- The key ability here is Lee’s E, activate it twice immediately to slow them and run towards your team mate making sure not to run far enough to deter your opponent, you may also want to use your W to shield yourself so you can take a bit more damage but it’s good to save it in case things get a little rough and you need a quick way out.
- When you do get close to your team mate the enemy will most likely start running, make sure to land your Q on them before they do so you can catch up to them, slow them and ult them back to your team.
- What if you have the advantage?
- When you have the advantage you will want to deal as much damage as you can as fast as you can while keeping the enemy away from safety, this also applies to ganking if you are jungling Lee Sin.
- Most people will tell you not to open with your Q, because your Q does 8% of the enemy’s missing health it’s best used as a finisher move, the problem with this is that it isn’t always possible to do so, if you have to use it as an opening move do it, otherwise flash or ghost in and open with your E for the slow.
- If you have your ult up, the best thing to do is to get behind them (your E is good for this) and ult them backwards or even sideways if you can’t get behind them.
- R into Q is the most damaging two ability combo Lee has, Tag an enemy with your Q ult them away and then use Q again to fly at them dealing 8% of their missing health, most of which they would have lost from your ult.
- If you are confident with Lee’s Q you can even ult before the Q, use the Q as they fly through the air to hit them where they will land, until you are 100% confident it will hit it’s best to hit them with your q first.
- The Escape
- You will always find times where you need to run and this is where Lee shines, his kit is perfect for it.
- Lee’s E is great for slowing attackers down while you run away, if used together with his Q or W there isn’t much hope for them to catch up to you.
- Lee’s W is the go to skill for escaping; the first use of it provides a quick dash to friendly targets including wards and puts a decent shield on you for 5 seconds. The second activation provides you with lifesteal, spell vamp and armour for 5 seconds.
- Ward jumping is fun, place a ward and W to it, this can be done over walls. You will want to practice ward jumping on lee sin as it is extremely useful, this is also one of the reasons I recommend wriggles on Lee even if you aren’t jungling.
- Lee’s Q although it looks like an offensive ability can also be useful for escaping if under the right conditions, you can’t use it on friendly targets but that isn’t a problem if you are past the enemy minions or have jungle mobs to jump to.
- Combine the three and you can be one of the hardest champions to kill, if you use the Q and W together you can cover an extreme distance in a split second. If someone tries to gank you from behind try using your Q to go to them and then W away to safety.
- The Dragon’s Rage
- Lee’s kit revolves around his ultimate Dragon’s Rage; it lets him deal some serious damage while placing an enemy where he wants them or disrupting an enemy team.
- His whole kit apart from his ultimate is based around being able to go where you please like no Mundo can, think of it as a tool to get in the perfect spot to use your ultimate to its full extent.
- His ultimate has a whopping 2.0 attack ratio on top of another 200/400/600, this makes it one of the most powerful abilities in the game and it doesn’t even stop there, it knocks the target flying, anyone they hit is dealt the full damage of the ult and gets knocked up. All of that and a short cool down of 60 seconds at level 3 makes Lee Sin a monster if he uses it properly.
- Placement is the single most important thing when using his ultimate especially in team fights, if you can hit everyone on the enemy team there is a potential of dealing a total of around 5000 damage with a full build. Also because it knocks up everyone it hits except the initial target it can completely disrupt an enemy team.
- That being said don’t save your ult for the perfect moment, it has a relatively short cool down and you probably won’t find that perfect moment all that often, using it to save a team mate or to separate one person from a team is still helpful.
- The Build
- There are lots of different ways to build lee sin he works well with nearly any common AD Bruiser build, I do recommend a wriggles early if you can ward jump, Mercury treads are good but if the enemy team doesn’t have much cc you might want to go with Ninja Tabi .
- I like building a Triforce on him even with the useless mana sheen gives you the overall stats it gives is worth it.
- I usually get a Heart of Gold early on and turn it into a Randuins Omen after the Triforce, the slow from Wardens Mail is perfect for Lee’s kit.
- After this I build to counter the enemy team, if they have a lot of armour I build a Last Whisper, AP Force of Nature etc. You should all know how this works.
- Experiment with your own builds, find something that suits you.
