  1. Like most MUs there's several types of characters you can apply for. However, there are several stipulations. The types of characters are referred to by acronyms FC, OFC, and OC.
  2.
  3. FCs: Feature Characters are characters that have appeared in various Macross series'. Admin permission is required to apply, and your first application cannot be for an FC.
  4.
  5. OFCs: Original Feature Characters were developed to be instrumental to the MU's main theme. A listing of these can be found here: http://www.macrossnewhorizon.org/mediawiki/index.php/OFC_Characters
  6.
  7. OCs: Original Characters are the most common type, with the most options for growth, and are limited only by the Macross theme.
  8.
  9. http://www.macrossnewhorizon.org/pages/charapp.php will have the specifics on what's required to app any given type of character.
  10.
  11. Feature Characters, who appeared in the various installments of the franchise, should adhere to the established personality and canon of the franchise. If you are curious which ones are free to be applied for, ask a staff member. FCs must undergo a more rigorous application process. These characters start with statistics to closely match their established skills in the franchise, but have no options for character statistic growth after application, and are encouraged to RP actively on the MUSH. Players applying for an FC may need to audition prior to being granted the character to ensure they have the skill and convey the personality of the character.
  12.
  13. OFCs, Original Feature Characters, are nearly identical to FCs. The crucial difference is OFCs are characters developed specific to the theme of this MU and may have larger roles to play outside day to day RP (or they may not, oooooh!). Like FCs, OFCs are a "fast track". Their key stats (those most pertinent to the character) are fixed. OFCs offer a little more wiggle room in comparison to FCs, someone playing an OFC can app to have some of their non-critical stats modified so long as it is reasonable within the bounds of the character. The aim here is to provide a major character in regards to the MU but offering a little more creative freedom to the player.
  14. Once again, however, an OFC is largely "what you app is what you get". Depending on the OFC they may also be eligible for a "plot based upgrade" (explained in News Upgrades). Like with FCs it is more than likely that someone seeking to app into an OFC position will be expected to do an audition for the character for the same reasons.
  15.
  16. Applying for an Original Feature Character is a similar process to an FC. OFCs have larger roles to play on the MUSH, as commanders or leaders. Their stats are already generated, and they already have histories, but the player has some freedom to modify the character and their personality is entirely the player's to infer.
  17.
  18. Note: While the player will have near total control over what the FC or OFC does, the player does not get to decide whether the FC or OFC dies, or suffers some other serious circumstances. Staff has the final say and will be involved.
  19.
  20. Original Characters allow the player creative freedom within the theme. They can be anyone, of any career, background, and ability level within the Macross theme and MUSH rules. Original Characters are further divided into Rookie and Established types.
  21.
  22. Rookie OCs begin with lower statistic and attribute values, but can grow over time to raise these values with fewer limitations. Rookie characters give the player the chance to allow their character to grow naturally from a humble beginning.
  23.
  24. Established OCs are already established professionals or talents. They are characters with a history the player has constructed and will begin with higher statistics and attributes, and cannot raise these statistics except through a Plot Upgrade.
