4. [box]December 25, NMR 2373[/box]

KUSEF, TXOTAI AR - Txotai is celebrating the anniversary of its Liberation that happened on Christmas Day of NMR 2310.
5.
6. This year's liberation anniversary theme is "Providago, Zotay" - "Seasons greetings, Txotai" in Luziycan. The theme has been present in public places throughout the region, from billboards to road signs to church entrances. It was thought up by the region's head of state, Vang Jun, who says the theme fits appropriately with the context of liberation since "Txotai's people, for another time, are saying 'seasons greetings' in a prosperous atmosphere."
7.
8. The anniversary kicked off in the morning in Freedom Square, the central square of Kusef, Txotai's capital, where hundreds attended the flag raising ceremony in which the national anthem was played and the flags of Namor and the Txotai AR were raised. Head of State Vang Jun, Deputy Head of State Irakliy Lazar, chief prosecutor Radoslava Yulia, chairman and priest of the Txotai Patriotic Christians' Association Gerasim Boleslav, Popular Otekian Party secretary general Tit Arseni, Txotai Department of Transportation (TTDOT) commissioner Samuil Rurik, chairman of the Txotai Chamber of Commerce Weng Jin and others attended the ceremony.
9.
10. The ceremony was followed by a minute-long moment of silence in memory of those who had been persecuted and suffered in extremist hands during the Txotai War.
11.
12. Vang Jun then delivered the annual liberation anniversary speech.
13.
14. "First of all, let me thank all of those who are able to be present in this occasion, the anniversary of Txotai's liberation," Vang said. "Today this not only liberation day for us, but is also Christmas Day - a day of peace and reflection of what we've done this year and an outlook into what we will do in the coming year."
15.
16. Vang said that since the Txotai War, Txotai has gone a long way "from becoming a monument of imperialist atrocities to a promising beacon of prosperity in northern Namor."
17.
18. "People once remembered Txotai as the region plagued with hostilities, war and brutality inflicted upon the people, a region whose people were victims of imperialism," Vang said. "When we were young we saw pictures of extremists attacking civilians and towns being destroyed by the insurgency they caused. But now, things are different. Now, all of Txotai is ready and already in the process of entering the modern era and embracing the development and improved standards of living that come with it." He noted that the economic reforms during the administration of Gelai Antelope, as well as the central government's program of shifting focus of economic development from the coastal south to the barren north has "benefited Txotai greatly and will continue to benefit Txotai greatly."
19.
20. "The world is becoming smaller thanks to the progress made by humankind," he said. "This progress and its effects are inevitable no matter what. Because of what's been done in the past few years Txotai is ensuring itself that it will not be left behind in this endless dash for progress, for progress is a journey, not a destination.
21.
22. "But we know that progress comes with a price, and that price is the erosion into local customs and traditions. This is why Txotai is fully committing itself into ensuring that the traditions of ethnic minority groups are not infringed upon as they aren't in the rest of Namor," he continued. "This year, several churches have been renovated, and today we are simultaneously celebrating two public holidays - one patriotic and one cultural. This shows again our steadfast willingness in living in harmony and not letting any force to take that harmony away for granted. Didn't the Bible say, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment?" To this, many applauded, including the priests who were present at the ceremony.
23.
24. "We are living in harmony and will continue to do so - this is the world of interdependence. Nobody can abandon each other," Vang finished. "We need each other. Harmony dominates everything and harmony will render everything else secondary. Let us continue to live in harmony. Thank you, adieu (good-bye in Luziycan), and provigado (seasons greetings) and have un provi Novi Ano (a good New Year)."
25.
26. The ceremony and Vang's speech was covered by local and national media alike.
27.
28. Txotai has been Namorese territory for centuries - it was forcibly ceded to Luziyca following the First Namo-Luziycan War, when Luziyca imposed an occupation over the region and set up a titular regime there which was disbanded following the peaceful liberation of the region in NMR 2290 following the founding of the People's Republic. It experienced a four year-long rebellion waged by East Luziyca-backed extremists and the Liberation Army from NMR 2306 to NMR 2310, resulting in a Liberation Army victory and a recovery of sovereignty over the region.
