Armed each with a shield and a one handed saber, Rik, Wes and the third company of The Patrol ventured into the masses of what The Patrol considered wasteful human scum. The rioters were now trying to break their way into the local police's headquarters; the third company, though, had successfully barricaded every way in.
At first, the company would be on a defensive stand, blocking the masses with their shields. Of course, the oil and gasoline of a Molotov cocktail had to put an end to the company's tactics when Wes saw the face of one of his companions melt onto his burning shoulders.
Having now switched on offense, the company's men drew their sabers and slashed their way through the protesters' heads and stomachs. Rik, who stood on the third row, would now find himself stepping on a pool of fresh meat and ripped bowels, ordering the men to hold their ground. The company marched forwards with Wes, demolishing everything on their way. Rik figured the company was not crushing a rebellion, but crushing the rebellious.
In the midst of this chaos, Rik ordered his men, a subdivision of the third company, to fall back; His men, blinded by fury and blood thirst, lost themselves in the crowds. Having now lost his men, Rik sought Wes.
Wes was dealing with a now disarmed group of protesters in a street south of the headquarters. Having dropped their shields, and each armed with their saber and one of the dead protesters' weapons, Wes' men charged forwards.
The cry of a young girl spanned the entire colony, causing Rik's ears to bleed slightly. The girl, crying for her mother's life and for her own, was pushed aside by Wes, who then stuck a sword on each side of the woman's neck and then brutally bashed her with a spiked mace several times until her body became one with the mud that had originated during this rainy holocaust.
The girl then produced a high pitched scream that would visit Rik's dreams until the end of his days. Rik was confused, seeing how The Patrol was breeding hate and desperation across the land. He ran forwards and pushed Wes onto the floor for what he had done. After exchanging a few words with Rik on the ground, Wes stood up, showing no regret for what he had just done. Rik and Wes engaged into battle.
Wes' dual weapon combination stood no chance against Rik's shield, however Rik could do nothing but protect himself against Wes' rage. After several hits and kicks, Wes managed to kick Rick onto the floor. Wes, who still showed certain clemency towards his companion, dropped his weapons and beat Rik near death.
Of course Rik was a loyal, mild-tempered character, but he was not stupid; He stood up and cried Wes' name. Wes, who had walked away several metres, looked backwards. Rik had now dropped not only his shield, but his saber too. Wes walked towards Rik in a provocative manner, but Rik, whose mind was now fresh and clear after the beating, grabbed the top of a metal trash can and bashed Wes on the side on his head, spilling some gray matter in the process. Wes dropped stunned on the floor, and Rik gave him a serious beating with the top of the can until it became a mold of Wes' dorsal spine; Rik tore Wes' tendons and kicked him in the elbow. Wes cried for mercy, but Rik covered his filthy mouth with a pile of mud and forced him to swallow it; Rik would lift Wes from the ground, kick him in the stomach, and then force the mud inside by putting his hand in Wes' mouth and pushing the mud into his esophagus. Wes had trouble breathing, and Rik did not want to kill him after all, so Rik slit Wes' throat slightly so he could catch some air, and then kicked him in the side of his knee so that he would fall back on the ground.
Wes would be rolling on the ground, his heart pumping blood through the tiny opening Rik had made on his throat, his head secreting dead brain matter after the first hit, his knee and elbow fainting slowly after Rik's kicks, and his mouth and nose vomiting a mixture of mud, blood, tissue and bile. Rik saw his old companion suffer, so he grabbed the metal trash can where he grabbed the top from, emptied it, and smashed it onto Wes' face, leaving him unconscious on the ground and thus freeing him from his endless pain.
After realising what he had done, and watching how some tiny vermin devoured Wes' secreted brain tissue away, Rik stepped backwards and fled, taking the young girl to a safe position, hidden deep within a building that grew several floors underground. He decided he was not up for the task of killing innocent people, who had rebelled against a totalitarian government, so he flew back to The Horton, dropped his badge on the General's table, and walked away.
