Maiding: Part One

Jofca Nov 16th, 2015 97 Never
  1. The Summer Vacation is getting closer, and so the tourists are. Dad doesn't expect many inmediately though considering the coming of the Tsuyu season; but he doesn't want you to get lazy all this time either, and you have to admit that you'd get bored anyway without anything to do.
  2.
  3. He owns a pension bussiness, and you work and get paid for making beds and taking out the trash in Summer, Winter and Spring Vacation. The rest of the year your only duty are your studies, so he hires people to do so. But this time things would get different, in a win-win situation.
  4.
  5. Sunday, July 21st, and just as you both expected, not much happened that day; although it was pretty clear of clouds. Same the next day, and the next, but you didn't see coming what would happen on Wednesday.
  6.
  7. It was very cloudy yesterday, and the news told today gets stormy, so it might be a good chance to get more people. Once you're about to leave some bags in the collector, you see a couple of girls standing in front of the building with bags. One of them looks serious, with a coin-looking patch in her right eye and an umbrella ("someone got kinda ready", you guess). The other one looked unbelievably cute and pretty sad. "I know it's not a five star hotel but come on, it's not that bad!", you say to yourself, chuckling.
  8.
  9. "Morning. Can I help you, ladies?" The cute one giggles, looking happier now.
  10. "Morning. We're looking for a place to stay", the serious one says.
  11. "The night costs 8000 yen per person, incluiding breakfast and-".
  12. "We have no money".
  13. "...oh".
  14. "But we need to stay indoors before the storm!", says the cute one. "Is there something we can do?"
  15. "Well...maybe my dad could hire you two. I don't know really, this has never happened before".
  16. "That's enough for me". The serious one says, taking the other one by her wrist and taking her to the hostel.
  17. "H-hey! Wait, I'm about to trip!"
  18. "Wish you the best...", you say quietly.
  19.
  20. Once you're done with the bags you carried, you go back and find them inside, talking with dad at reception. This doesn't look good; dad doesn't seem to want to help. The cute one beckons me, begging me with puppy eyes for help. You feel you have to do something for them.
  21.
  22. "What's wrong, dad?" You say in order to make them know you can know about the issue.
  23. "Don't worry".
  24. "I'm sorry, Hibari". The serious one looks like she just lost everything she has in a bet.
  25. "D-Don't worry! I'm sure he can help us. Right?" Hibari says looking at you with a waving smile and tearful eyes.
  26. "Let's see what can I do", you think. "Dad, they need a place to be".
  27. "So do other people".
  28. "Did they offer you something?"
  29. "They said they could do anything, but honestly I don't think we can believe in them".
  30. "Why not?"
  31. "Are you kidding me? Look at them! They don't seem to be able to work here."
  32. "Do I?"
  33. "But you're my son, I know you! And I don't ask you to do much."
  34. "...! Can we at least, give them a chance? ...so you may know what can they do? Make them do my chores".
  35. "Hah! Nice one, trying to get rid of your chores that way."
  36. "Give them a chance, I ask you. Since I won't do them, they should get paid instead".
  37.
  38. He keeps silent and looks at you deeply. "...why are you doing this?"
  39.
  40. Both girls are looking at us.
  41.
  42. "Are you even sure about this?"
  43. "Honestly, no. But they seem to mean well for me, and I don't want them to face the night without a roof".
  44. "..." "If they do them wrong you'll have to do them, and before your turn ends, or I won't pay you either".
  45. You shallow some saliva. "...got it".
  46.
  47. Hibari gasped with hope, and her friend sighed with relief, smiling a bit. My dad talks to them now:
  48.
  49. "Listen, girls. If you want to keep here tonight, you'll have to make the beds of all our guests and take out the rest of the trash. Those were my son's chores, and you have until 12 o'clock to finish as well. There's more, but for now I'll test you with that: if you fail at this, you'll go; if you can do this but fail at the next, I'll pay you 1000 yen; but if you success at everything...I'll allow you to stay here until tommorrow. Understood?"
  50. "Yes, sir!"
  51. "Understood".
  52. "Good. Now go make the beds, starting with the first guestroom. That way", and points out to the right of them. Hurrying up, they're stopped by him. "Hey! Leave your belongings first! Heh heh...".
  53. "Oh, right".
  54. "Eh heh heh". Hibari sticks out her tongue a little.
  55. "What are your names?"
  56. "I'm Hibari".
  57. "Yagyuu".
  58.
  59. Once they leave their stuff with you, they finally go. And leaving us alone, you ask, to be sure:
  60. "So...will I get paid for the trash I-"
  61. "No".
  62. "What?! But why?!"
  63. "It wasn't a big deal". "Wait..." "Have you been taking out the trash, and then making the beds, all this time?!"
  64. "Eh..eh heh heh". You look like a storm of sweat has come under you.
  65. "Do that again, and you'll sleep outside".
