  1. Hello,
  2.
  3. I'd understand if you discard this message since you probably get tons of appeals but I simply had to get some things off my sleeve.
  4.
  5. First up I'd like to say that one of the primary reasons I signed up for the UN was that the UN is always supposed to be the righteous 'good guy'. I completely agree with you that the UN should never be the aggressor in any conflict big or small.
  6.
  7. For good understanding I've again summarized what happened from my perspective under this spoiler:
  8. Events around the casino: Hide
  9. -I am with my partner on patrol checking the eastern border
  10. -We hear a helicopter, see it landing at the casino and call it in with the police
  11. -We head with the BTR towards the Tbase and on our way there the casino gets robbed
  12. -We get the request from the police to give support at the casino since they have officers down
  13. -We go up to the casino, shots are being fired
  14. -The police inform us of a sniper in the mountains which they can't handle with their equipment
  15. -We drive around several of the surrounding mountains (more cops die)
  16. -We spot the sniper looking down at the casino area
  17. -I make the split-second decision to switch to the Dshkm and fire a burst at him
  18.
  19. I drive a BTR-40 because it is basically my favourite off-road vehicle, once I ranked up to PFC I exchanged it for the armed version to be able to give heavy fire support in case needed. The first thing I do after getting it out of the garage is aiming the gun into the sky in a non aggressive position. The first thing I do when I take people on patrol is telling them that the gun is off-limits unless our lives are in direct danger. In two weeks I used it twice, once to offer suppressing fire to units which were breaching the Tbase building the other time to kill someone who randomly shot a RPG at me.
  20.
  21. To me negotiation wasn't a realistic option as I came to the casino with shots being fired and cops being killed. De-escalation with unarmed UNofficers works in real life because of two things: People know that the UN has an international coalition behind them which will use all their resources to hunt people down that kill UN officers and in the end most people actually prefer to go to prison over being killed. Things usually just don't work that way ingame. Since they murdered a bunch of people I don't think it would have been an option to offer them a free pass.
  22.
  23. I didn't use the Dshkm any different than I would have used any other lethal weapon in this situation (I shot aprox 5 rounds), nor is it more convenient in its use. The only reason I used it was that I could swap to it in a second by scrolling instead of getting out > waiting out the unholster animation > reorientating which takes a way longer time in which I would risk the lives of the victim of the sniper and myself.
  24.
  25. I never went in with the intention to kill, troll or abuse my vehicle and I am very fed up with my dishonorable discharge from the UN. To me it feels like I have lost my tags to a zero tolerance policy forced upon a bit of a grey area within the rules and a general campaign against the wrong use of mounted weapons, I knew about neither of these. I would be very pleased if you would reconsider the removal of my tags to replace it with a ban or another sort of punishment.
  26.
  27. If you came this far, thank you for reading.
  28.
  29. Best regards,
  30. Maarten
