  1. HOLY SHIT AN UPDATE AFTER 4 YEARS GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY (Work in progress)
  2.
  3. >How do I amiibo?
  4. You have to find Wisp, who you will find floating around in your town randomly a day after you update. He can be found at any time, unlike previously thought. After this you get a piece of furniture that lets you scan one amiibo per day.
  5.
  6. >What amiibo work with the update?
  7. ALL Animal Crossing amiibo, including but not limited to:
  8. NPC Figure amiibo
  9. AC card series 1-4 (400 total, plus a few promos)
  10. Welcome amiibo card series (50 total)
  11. Hello Kitty Welcome amiibo card series (6, nonrandom pack)
  12. Smash Villager
  13. Zelda series amiibo, including (but possibly not limited to):
  14. Smash series Zelda figures (Link, Toon Link, Zelda, Sheik, Gannondorf)
  15. TP Wolf Link
  16. 30th Anniversary series
  17. (speculation) Breath of the wild figures? It's hinted at in the direct but not stated
  18. Splatoon series amiibo, including:
  19. Inkling Boy/Girl/Squid
  20. Callie & Marie
  21. Monster Hunter Stories amiibo
  22.
  23. It's worth noting that Monster Hunter amiibo and Sanrio amiibo cards WILL work with the NA/EU copies of the game. Since amiibo aren't region locked, and ACNL has to have that compatibility for cross region play anyways.
  24.
  25. >Yeah but what does this get me?
  26. Welcome amiibo and crossover characters will show up in the RV park, you can order special furniture from them, and you can convince them to move into your town. This includes crossover characters, so yes you can have medli or epona in your town. Normal villagers can be convinced to move into your town. They don't show up in RVs, though, apparently. Any villager invited through amiibo ignore other rules about moving in villagers (Void, cooldown, etc) and you can kick people out and invite new people in.
  27.
  28. NPC Characters like KK Slider, Isabelle, etc, can NOT move into your town, but they hang out and you can order exclusive furniture from them. While they're camping, Wisp will take their place for the day, albeit often with reduced function (Can't donate to blathers, etc).
  29.
  30. >Where do I get the 3ds/wiiu for the minigames?
  31. Fortune cookies. There's at least 7 new fortune cookie items, likely a number more. Some villagers also have them in their RVs. Most (if not all) AC amiibo FIGURES have a 3ds and wiiu available for purchase. NPCs talked to from cards will give you items, including apparently their pictures, but not show up camping in an RV.
  32.
  33. >Do I need amiibos to access new content?
  34. No. Harv will sell new furniture regardless of amiibo use, and NPCs such as Nat, Zipper, Jingle, etc will show up in RVs and you can order stuff from them, oftentimes having items you can't get otherwise. (Holiday items, uncataloguable furniture, etc.)
  35.
  36. >What's the HHD stuff?
  37. If you have HHD save data you can unlock a bunch of enormous pieces of furniture, as well as a model of Nook's Homes. You CANNOT move over furniture etc from HHD or anything. This ONLY gives you the huge furniture. Worth noting that you get these rewards on every character in your town if you want multiples.
  38.
  39. >How do I get the new storage locker upgrade?
  40. After getting the upstairs expansion, you can get it from Nook by talking to him about "Something new".
  41.
  42. >How do I get the new HHD decorating mode with the touchscreen?
  43. After you get the storage locker upgrade from Nook's home, Lottie will talk to you about it the next day.
  44.
  45. >How does the town selling/new game plus work?
  46. You go to reset your town as normal, and if your town is deemed worth enough, Nook will offer to buy your house. He'll offer a large lump sum, or 100 daily payments with 10% interest. You can choose to keep your catalog, or sell it for extra cash. You CAN reset for map layouts and whatnot, the game doesn't save until after you make your new TPC. You can reset any time before that.
  47.
  48. Note that if you're worried about accidentally losing your town, you should probably back up your save somewhere, if you have homebrew.
  49.
  50. >What's with the Wifi option from Harvey?
  51. This will be used for future visiting villager DLC. In the Japan direct, a visiting character mascot was already shown.
  52.
  53. >What other random shit has changed anyways?
  54. >You can now sit on rocks
  55. >Balloons contain other items beside balloon furniture
  56. >New Fortune cookie items (Including Wii U and 3DS, nintendog ornaments)
  57. >You can interact with things in front of you while sitting down
  58. >MEOW Coupons can be exchanged for 3k Bells each
  59. >You can shake trees with one-handed equipment in your hands
  60. >Glitches have been patched
  61. >Social media features to share screenshots straight to FB and Twitter
  62. >Wearing a mii mask will change your skin color accordingly
  63. >Moving an Amiibo vilager in to a full town allows you to choose who moves out
  64. >You can use Amiibo cards of Special NPCs like Isabel to get their pictures
  65. >Balloon Dog Lamp has been renamed Balloon Poodle Lamp
  66. >Some special NPCs have new animations
  67. >Some villagers have new intro tunes

  69. >Fertilizer has been updated, now may grow back perfect fruit trees
  70. >There seems to be subtle changes to lighting and texture
  71. >You can turn off chat on club tortimer
  72. >Olivia is still best cat
