  2. L : I love your team theme as a whole, but for me, there’s one problem that unfortunately landed in your hands. There isn’t a soft side of flamenco. It, quite literally, comes from the latin word for fire. This reads way too islandy and strays too far from latin/spanian, so for me, although the outfit is beautiful, it’s a boot.
  3. P : I think the look appears too washed out this week, maybe because theres so much white space – but I understand the reference you wanted to go for: virginal; pure etc. It does look rushed and theres a lack of detailing maybe? With a liner to separate parts of the look – as the head region is quite busy. Yeah so anyway main advice I would give: If you’re going to do a white look or maybe just any block colour, you have to be really careful with putting as much effort into those areas as the detailed areas. I found it was much easier to go with a patterned fabric because if not it would appear forgotten in comparison to the detailed parts of the drawing. To deal with that you could use a light grey/blue/yellow to add in seams or wrinkles in the fabric – just so everyone knows that its an intentionally blank space. TOOT though very pretty.

  6. L : I appreciate the thought gone into this but it’s all over the place. There’s a line to walk between having an message and having a design. You focused SO much on the description that the design feels disjointed and unflattering.
  7. P : I kind of like this. Its also fitting as a final look for you because I think its solidified your art style. Its not a paper doll, but its not flat either. The colour scheme is very reserved and I really appreciate how you’ve taken (what appears to me to be) the face and put it into the dress: I can see the eye there behind her arm. Outside of this competition I think this would look very good as those sort of niche illustrations you find in edgy/hipster magasines. Theres the right amount of copy and paste and digital collage for me. Superb! This is possibly your best look! TOOT.

  10. L : Ughhhhh so fucking good! The pose, the expression, the contrast of the cape and the outfit, the hat, the lighting, and the shirt are all STELLAR. I have nothing bad to say.
  11. P : Super nice! A lovely garment as well- like professional well done. The hat is nice and I really do like the concept you have going on in mixing genders and so forth. The anatomy is on point again. Nothing for me to advise changing. TOOT.

  14. L : Pretty, but I don’t think it brings anything new. Best parts are the gold lace and pose.
  15. P : This is a well done, standard flamenco dancer, and you didn’t rush the gold detailing so that’s patience, it does read as flamenco dancer rather than a drag queen take on flamenco dancer, I think you could have shown that in the makeup and hair more, and even in those shoulder pads/ cut of the dress/cleavage. I don’t like the clunky shoes theyre proportionally too big I think. It’s a safe TOOT though.

  18. L : Along with the fact it’s unfinished, the yellow fabric looks crinkley. The hair and makeup are gorgeous though. Also, the silhouette of the design itself is nothing we haven’t already seen.
  19. P : Without that panther this is a serious core workout pose. Leaving the panther out shows that this look doesn’t stand up on its own: I don’t think the pose showcases the outfit well enough and the outfit that is showing looks quite drab – yknow the browns and blacks – but then again that was to go with the panther theme so im stuck. Maybe you might have needed to carry on the panther print throughout the look. Another problem is that I can’t tell what the wispy bits are? So it doesn’t really add anything other than a question mark. I think putting the hair into ears was clever but that could have been done with the crown and (again for me) the hair could have been bigger, and maybe hit the floor. I think you can tell from this critique that my advice is that more could have been done. I understand that time has been an issue and this wasn’t a particularly creative and liberating theme though. BOOT im sorry.

  22. L : Although simple, it’s simplicity done perfect. It instantly reads as burlesque. I love the hair, the fabric rendering on the cape, the face, the leg shape, and the detailing on the feathers. My only criticism would be that the nipple tassles seem a little low which makes the whole chest/neck anatomy look funny, and that you’ve done simpler looks three weeks in a row.
  23. P : Lovely look this week! It looks like a print! Very reserved and very carefully chosen burlesque motifs. Your funky anatomy works well here and the tiny colour palette too. Only problem I have with it – and this is only by staring at your work is that like /u/icaruskairos more could have been done with the blank space of the material being ripped off her body, or maybe less fabric could have been shown – so yeah read the lil bit I wrote for Icarus. TOOT

  26. L : C’mon Britney! I love the wig, the leotard, the heels, and the makeup. The one thing that’s a little off setting is the stark black on her hands and hips. It makes the look feel a bit less crisp and puts all of the focus on the snake, when you want the focus attracted to the outfit.
  27. P : I really like this, I wish there was more of the snakes colour scheme in the outfit rather than just a mesh leotard, really like the stockings and the gloves though. Also wish the bit of hair on top was bigger but again just my preference. All in all it’s a TOOT really sultry and dark, nice.

  30. L : I enjoy the rendering but something about it feels so meh. While /u/makakanidrive did a classic interpretation with incredible detail, you did a classic interpretation with nothing really standing out. The first thing noticeable is the poses and the face, and not the garment. Then, once you focus on the garment, there’s not much to look at, which is why it’s a boot for me.
  31. P : This is a good experiment in movement! This isn’t good for showing off a look though. And wow you drew a Bollywood outfit for a Bollywood theme, im so sorry about the theme, its probably the root of the problem. I like things clean so for me this is a BOOT but as a drawing and a way of capturing movement this is wonderful and a cool way of doing it. The jewellery was nice though.
