Muv Luv Strike Frontier Prologue 1-6

Part 1

One day in 2016, in an area of Yokohama city-

Minori: ...

Main Character: ...

MC: Minori, you know you're in the wrong house, right?  Your house...is next door.

Minori: Don't insinuate I'm stupid!  I didn't make a mistake!  To think I couldn't help but come over to make dinner!

MC: ...Come make dinner?  Couldn't help?  I don't get it.

Minori: Uncle and Auntie went on a trip, right?  I was asked.  The way they asked there's no way to say no, after all they've helped with.

MC: Even if you say couldn't help it, those grocery bags seem to be bursting.  Aren't those heavy?

Minori: Erk!  I screwed up and bought too much.  Isn't it fine, considering that the number of dishes will increase?  What, (MC), you have a problem with that!?

MC: No no, no problems at all!  Well uh...I'll be in your care.

Minori: You could've been honest from the getgo...I'm borrowing the kitchen.

She even brought her apron?  For someone who couldn't help it, she's quite into it.

-Okay, let's get things sorted.

My parents went on a long term vacation and asked Minori to take care of their son's food.

Because we're neighbors, because we're childhood friends, because even to now we're still in the same class.

And Minori accepted the request.

For 5000 yen.

Ugh...why did she accept such a request yet again?

She really has not self-awareness.

Putting it plainly, Minori's popular.  She's easily in the top 3 of the school.

Even in the past I thought she was cute, but it seems it wasn't just me.

She's always been a center of attention.

Even if she doesn't chat with them much, citing she isn't used to guys.

That's bad.  She doesn't understand that her lack of self-awareness only serves to excite the guys even more.

And then she only talks to me.  Only I am special.

Of course, this brings about misunderstandings, no?  She doesn't understand what goes on in male's hearts.

She's still a shy kid who falls in line right behind you.

Whatever Minori has going on, I want her to be happy.

Which is why I decided to distance myself, but...  This is bad.  Personally-made food is uh...

It seems she doesn't understand how much trouble she's in if the guys hear about this.

Forcibly pushing her away is a little too mean, so what to do...

Part 2

- 1 Hour later

Main Character: Delicious.  This is...good.

Minori: Really!?  Well, the results show if I get serious.  If you wanna win, you gotta win their stomach, right?

Minori: Stomach Claw! [Showa era wrestling reference]

I don't understand the meaning of the smug look.  Just what are you fighting against?

....Ah!

MC: I see.  So I'm the guinea pig, eh?  You got someone you want to make food for, eh?

Minori: Eh!? T-t-t-that's not it!  What are you talking about!?

MC: Don't hide it.  We're good friends, right?

So that's how it is.  That explains everything.

MC:  I see, so this is the reward for putting some distance between us, huh?

Minori: Eh....you tried to put some distance between us...?

MC: Remember how the popular you blew off all the guys saying you have a hard time talking with males?  Yet here you are chatting with me.

Minori: But...it's the truth...  You're the only one I can talk to normally.

MC: That's bad.  You won't get a boyfriend if you keep being this shy.

Minori: T=that's fine!  It's not that I'm shy. I'm-

MC: Well, I guess it's regrettable, but I hope it works out for you... No, it will work out, considering the food you made.

Minori: Regrettable?  You... think it's regrettable that I find someone to like?

MC: Well, it's more that I've always thought that we'd be together through thick and thin and took it for granted.  Never really gave it much thought until now.

Minori: I see...so you thought of it that way...

MC: Anyways, when are you gonna confess?  How about tomorrow?  It's saturday now, so you can head out immediately on sunday.

Minori: ...I see.  Right.

MC: Ah, but if you don't know the phone number or [email] address you can't call them up, eh?  I could talk with some people I know-  Wait, you don't want to leak the secret, eh?  Well, it'll be revealed sooner or later-

Minori: Say...

MC: Hm?

Minori: ...go out with me.

MC: Ehhhh?

Minori: Tomorrow...come with me when I'm heading into town.

MC: Ah, that.  Ahaha, you had me panicked there for a moment!  Don't word things wierdly like that, it's confusing.

Minori: Hmmm, so you panicked... Well, you coming or not?

MC: But tomorrow is-

Minori: ...It's fine.  This is something I need to do.  No matter what

MC: ...Okay.

At times like these, you can't say anything that will change Minori's mind.

Whether she's giving up on confessing tomorrow or whether she need to prepare herself...dunno which it will be, but I'll have to see this through.

Minori: So tomorrow, I'll come pick you up at 9 AM.  Alright?

MC: 'Kay-

That's a suprisingly focused expression.  I guess she's made her choice.

Then again, why I need to tag along remains a mystery...but if Minori's okay with it, I'll help her out.

...Definitely feels a bit lonelier now.

Part 3

Some day in 2016, 8:55 AM-

Minori: Eeeeeeeeeeeek!

- At that time, I was waiting for Minori after finishing excursion preparations.

The moment I looked at the clock was the same moment her scream came flying into my ear.

Main Character:  Minori!?  Hey, what's wrong!?

The scene I saw when I came out of the house, yeesh, I wouldn't have been able to predict for even a millimeter...

MC: W...what? What are these...ruins...

Everything in sight was derelict...

It was unfathomable.

Minori's scream being the result of seeing this scene is without a doubt confirmed.

Minori: (MC)... W-what's...what is going on?  What...happened to the city?

MC: I-I don't know.  But if we check the TV, we might find something out!

Minori: How are we supposed to watch TV in this condition?

Minori's house was destroyed beyond recognition.

Then we can watch at my place- As I thought that and looked behind me for the thing that is there...

It was a mere something that, just now, was originally my home.

...

Maybe this is all just a dream?

At this point, this is all I could think of.

Everything is merely my dream.  This scenery and even Minori's state of fright.

MC: Okay, at this point there's no helping it.  Let's go check out the city!

Minori: Wha...what are you saying!?

MC: You see, Minori, this is just a dream.  This is my dream.  Which is why it suddenly became like this.

MC: Dreams are more real the closer you are to waking up.  That's all.

Minori: ...

MC: It'd be a waste not to explore before I wake up.  Eventually you'll come knocking to wake me up.

Minori: ...Why do I have to go wake you up?

MC: Because I didn't set an alarm clock.

Minori: ...Aren't you the idiot.

MC: That's that, so let's go!!

Minori: -Ah! Wait up!!

...If this really is a dream, please let me wake up sooner.

I've never seen a dream that makes my heart race so badly.

But in front of Minori, I can't afford to slack off.

Now Minori's smiling again, at least.  Please it end like this.

Before I hit my limit...please, wake up!

Part 4

- 11:25 AM

Main Character: Well?  Has the text message been opened?

Minori: No good.  Rather, after I sent the message the cell lost coverage, so I don't know...

MC: I see...

Because I came out of the house in a panic, I didn't grab my cell, much less my wallet.

Everything was in that crushed house.

MC: But still, for Tachibana-cho to be leveled and Hiiragi-cho to be in this state, I wonder what kind of hatred did I have for the city? {Remember, MC thinks he's in a dream still.}

- 1 hour later

Rather than abandoned, every building we came across had no resemblance of its former shape..., be they flipped over from the foundation, fallen, or just gone to pieces.

The train station and shop alley were also messed up.  The high walkways had crumbled.

Even then, there wasn't a single human.  not even an animal or even signs of plantlife.

Just what is this?

A dream? Reality that makes you think it's a dream?

I've become unsure of how I felt.  Either way you put it, it's unbelievable.

Crap, if I'm like this, then Minori is-

Minori: -say

MC: ! W-what!?

Minori: That's....what is that?  Look, over around at the hill that Hiiragi Academy has, that

Hakuryou University affiliated Hiiragi Academy...a very famous prestige school in our sector.

It has an incredibly steep slope called hell slope near the top of the peak, and you can see said slope from a distance too...huh?

MC: The top of the Academy has a radar-like object.  And it's moving.

Minori: Then...there might be people!  Let's go check it out, (MC)!!

MC: Y-yeah...!!

What...is this place?

This was the main entrance to Hiiragi Academy without a doubt.  The things we see in front of us, however, were absolutely not.

United Nations Pacific Theatre 11th Division Yokohama Base

A base!?  Then, what we saw on top of the building spinning around was...

Are you telling me that really is a radar?

Entrance Guard 1: What are you doing here?

Entrance Guard 2: Out on leave? Whimsical people, the lot of ya.  Nothing but ruins all around.

MC: ...Huh?

EG1: A date in Plain Clothes?  Well, better than walking around inside the base, I guess...  Reporting back in, right?  Pass and ID please.

Minori: Pass?  ID?

EG2: Even if we're in from the same base, this is the rule.  Especially since plain clothes makes it hard to tell.

EG1: -Hold up.  Don't you think it's strange?  I don't think they know what we're talking about.

EG2: ...Indeed.

EG2: Freeze.

Minori: Eek!!

EG1: Quiet.  Legs apart and put your hands behind your head. Slowly, no funny moves now.

MC: H-hey!!

EG2: Hurry up!

MC: Wait a second!  We really don't know anything.  Everything was destroyed when we woke up!

Minori: Not a single person around!  We saw an odd machine moving, so we thought we could meet someone here, so we came here!

EG1: Say...think we should corroborate with Vice Commander Kouzuki?

EG2: Right.  We just had that odd man come by recently.  Shirogane- I think he said?

EG1: Back then he was also saying strange things...and ended being aquantances with the Vice Commander.

EG2: Okay, don't take your eyes off them.

Part 5

Yuuko: Welcome, (MC) and Shirakawa, was it?  Come on in.

Main Character: So...you're...Vice Commander Kouzuki?

Yuuko: Indded.  By the way, sorry for asking of this after the long interrogation, but can you bear with me just a bit longer?

Yuuko: Just to confirm, you guys were suddenly dropped into this world from 2016 Yokohama...

MC: When you say this world...?

Yuuko: At this point, you can't say you're still in a dream.  Considering the annoyances of interrogations and inspections you've taken hours to go through.

MC: ...

Yuuko: Well, okay.  I've heard your side of the story, so as thanks I'm going to teach you about this world.

Minori: Really?  Just what is...

Yuuko: STOP!  Answering your questions will get annoying.  First listen and let me finish.

Yuuko: And thus.  Do you understand everything so far?

MC: So this is a ...parallel world?

Minori: A japan in 2001 where they're fighting monsters from space called BETA?

Yuuko: Imperial Japan, to be exact.

MC: And because of the BETA, humanity is on the brink of extinction, not to mention everything west of Kantou is destroyed for Japan.

Minori: And the reason the city is in ruins... is because of that...

Yuuko: Everything understood now?  Okay, let's continue to the main topic.

MC: EH!?

Minori: T-there's no way for us to return to our original world!?

Yuuko: We don't know, to be exact.  I have theories for a solution, but it's still in experimental stages.

MC: Then what are we supposed to do...

Yuuko: I'll let you stay on base.  In exchange, you will help with my research.

Minori: Research?

Yuuko: I am Vice Commander by title, but my main occupation is that of a physicist.

Yuuko: You guys present an interesting research topic.  If all goes well my thesis will be proven and perhaps you can go home.

Minori: (MC)...w-what do we do...

MC: ...We'll do it! Of course we'll do it!

Minori: Are...are we going to be okay...?

MC: It'll be fine.  We'll surviving anything and everything and go back to our world together!

Minori: (MC) ...Yeah...

Yuuko: A wise choice

That's right,  we'll go back to our world together, no matter what.

Until that time, I will protect Minori!

I will survive on this world!

Part 6

Main Character: ...Let's see, the location the Vice Commander said should be around here...

Minori: This area feels like a school...and these are the track grounds or something...

???: Pardon.  You over there.

MC: Huh?

Meiya: Because it's dangerous, outsiders should refrain from entering.

MC: Uh...well...

Meiya: Were you looking for someone?

A voice: -Mitsurugi, it's okay!

Meiya: Instructor Jinguji.

Minori: Then, that person is...

Marimo: (MC)-san and Shirakawa-san, yes?

Marimo: I've heard from Vice Commander Kouzuki.  I am TSF Training Instructor SGT Jinguji Marimo.

Marimo: First let's get you to the bunks.  Follow me.

Marimo: This will be your bunk house.  pick whichever bed you like.  It will only be you people.

Minori: Y-yes'm...

Marimo: You might falter at the thought of sleeping in the same room, but even if we gave you seperate rooms you would be together at all times...at least Vice Commander Kouzuki analyzed as such.

I-I see.  The logic matches up.

Or does it match up?

Better than you guys heading out rashly, it's easier to set you up together from the beginning.  Please put up with any minor inconviences for now.

Marimo: The hallway is under surveillance, so don't do anything that might cause a misunderstanding.

Minori: Understood...

Marimo: I think your restrictions will be in place for a few more days, so stay put until then.  Until next time.

Minori: ...She left.

MC: yeah...

Minori: Say, (MC)...this is reality...right?

MC: I suppose...

Minori: Will we be able to go back?

MC: Of course we will!

Why this happened is still unknown...

But we will go back to our original world for sure!!
