- OPINIONS ON ANIME SONGS THAT STARTS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE CHILDRENS'S CARTOONS
- -fennekin-
- Attack on Titan 1 - Really stands out from other openings. IDK how to explain or classify it, but it's different and
- just so well-written.
- Attack on Titan 2 - The very beginning is kinda cheesy and doesn't flow with the rest of the song imo, which is why
- it's BL. Otherwise it'd be on par with the first OP.
- Cowboy Bebop - Classy as fuck. It sounds more like a gangsta anime (Katekyo? idk shit about that anime, just a guess)
- theme than a western/cowboy anime, which I assume is what COWBOY Bebop is, but who the fuck cares. Classy opening. Dat
- ending, too.
- FMA Brotherhood 1 - I think "Rain" is generally considered better. I generally don't give a fuck. Take this one. The
- song's progression has this awesome buildup and gets especially catchy before the chorus comes in. Love it.
- Guilty Crown 1 - I might not ever watch Guilty Crown, but goddamn does it have a good score. And this opening, man, it
- likes to be pretty and it kinda sounds like it'll just stay modest the whole time, then BOOM, epic chorus is epic.
- Mirai Nikki 1 - THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE dude this band is amazing. Metal with a
- serene, female singer and a gothic choir in the back, it's fits Mirai Nikki so perfectly that it's scary. That said,
- it's the music itself that I like. Yousei Teikoku's unique and engaging style hits all the right chords for me.
- Mirai Nikki 3 - IDK why this one doesn't get talked about so much, because it even rivals the first. Okay, maybe this
- is a bit more conventional than Kuusou. ...Is that it? It's more-or-less on par with the first so it might as well be
- grouped together.
- Naruto 4 - HEY, IT'S THAT AWESOME THEME FROM WHEN NARUTO WAS GOOD! FLOW is with Yousei Teikoku and Ling Tosite Sigure,
- they can make some amazing ass openings. It's a fun little rock song with chanting and raps that aren't cheesy as fuck.
- GJ
- Shippuden 6 - Been a while since we've seen an entry from FLOW. There are actually other pretty great themes from
- Naruto and Shippuden, but this was my second choice for a good one. Quite an emotional song with a bombastic opening
- and powerful chorus. It's not anthemic like GO but suits its purpose just fine. It's a different song overall.
- Sword Art Online 1 - Look, I hate on SAO as much as the next guy, but they harbor some fine ass openings. The bright
- tone doesn't fit the "death game" well, but who the fuck cares. LiSA's vocals are on point in this song; there's really
- something about this chorus that almost makes me cry with how amazing it is. And then it one of the catchiest endings
- that almost makes me wish it'd never end. WHY DOES SAO HAVE TO SUCK?!
- Tokyo Ghoul - Anyone, and I mean ANYONE that takes anime OP's seriously holds this song in high regards. It's perhaps
- the most acclaimed opening of all time--for great reason. TK's voice is outstanding, and Ling Tosite Sigure is a hell
- of a band. Every instrument defines the song, and it's one of the most explosive, memorable openings ever made.
- -borderline-
- Btooom! - Nano is another great, consistent J-rock artist. NPNG is one of the many fun, well-paced rock songs on this
- list--the opening is particularly great. I guess it just didn't seem right for the Fennekin tier, but it's a step above
- the Braixen tier.
- No Game No Life - The only reason why this isn't Fennekin Tier is because I think it tries a little too much at the end
- of the verse to change the song up, and that the chorus feels just slightly disconnected. ...Otherwise, this is
- definitely top-tier and it may actually get promoted if I stop being such an asshole.
- Psycho Pass - THE BEST J-ROCK BAND. Yeah, there's a lot of outside noise in this opening, this was the only version I
- could find that wasn't pitched, copyrighted, extended, etc. so feel free to look a better version up. Anyway, why isn't
- this Fennekin Tier? Because of the slowdown in the verse, I guess. I don't like it very much, but it DOES set up the
- buff ass chorus. Definitely a great opening despite that.
- Sword Art Online II 2 - Again, bad anime, amazing openings. If I was judging the full versions of these songs and not
- the 1:30 versions, this would be Fennekin Tier for sure. It's not the full version, though, and therefore I think it
- ends on too light of a note, as the energy from the chorus drains out and the song rushes just a bit to force the
- ending. The hype is definitely here, but it's much better in the full.
- -braixen-
- Akame ga Kill! 2 - Honestly, this is pitched down, but it sounds REALLY good. Too bad it cut off the last couple of
- seconds, which is honestly the best part of the song... Anyway, Liar Mask takes a little getting used to. On the first
- couple listens, I was like "what the fuck is going on in this opening?" and yeah it tries a little too much to be
- different, but it's a great theme. Reminds me of Yousei Teikoku.
- Bakemonogatari 5 - A couple seconds were cut from the beginning for whatever reason. IDK why copyright is so hard on
- openings. Is pirating a 1:30 segment from an anime THAT big of a deal? Fuck. Anyway, Monogatari fans might find this an
- oddball choice, but it's my favorite OP from the series. Hanekawa's vocals have the right amount of fluff, but I think
- the instrumentation is really what excels. The verses have an awesome pattern and the strings add a nice flavor without
- being too overbearing. The whole song in general builds up pretty nicely, but it doesn't get all crazy or anything. Not
- that that's a problem.
- Black Bullet - I wish this was less of an electronic song, I guess. That's pretty much my only complaint about this.
- The vocals and song progression are quite nice, and the choir was a nice surprise. Not much to say, just a nice,
- easygoing theme.
- Bleach 13 - I don't know shit about Bleach so I have no idea what the fuck I am watching right now. Uhhh, anyway.
- Awesome chorus, yeah? That's what really makes this song. The beginning is pretty nice too, but the verses were a
- little too "eh", I guess. It's kinda close to BL2 but I don't have a problem with it here. The full version of the song
- is probably better, though I haven't listened to it yet.
- Deadman Wonderland - The full version of this song has, I believe, the 3rd most views of any anime opening (4 if you
- wanna count both AoT openings). WHY? Okay, yes, this opening is good, maybe very good, but it is not amazing. Like, its
- popularity is on the level of Mirai Nikki, Attack on Titan, Tokyo Ghoul, and... *sigh* Angel Beats!, but I cannot for
- the life of me figure out why. There are other grungy themes and other themes in English... ...oh yeah this isn't
- supposed to be a rant thing. I like its grunge style or whatever. It really does have a nice style, but it's not
- fucking Fennekin Tier, don't get ahead of yourselves. Vocals are probably the best part. The guy's got a great voice.
- (Also, whoever's responsible for the subs in this video fucking sucks.)
- Death Parade - This might end up in BL, but I was expecting a little more from the chorus. It feels a little weak,
- possibly due to the fact that it repeats itself. Just kinda lacks power. For what it's worth, though, it's a really
- catchy opening. The call/response in the verse is the highlight.
- Fate/Zero 1 - Every Fate/Zero opening vid was copyrighted or pitched, so I'm hoping what I linked is the right
- substitute. Dude, this chick has a great voice. Another powerful, uplifting chorus. If there's any room for criticism,
- I'm just a little underwhelmed by the pre-chorus, and the last few seconds feel a little tacked on. That's about it,
- though.
- FMAB 5 - I like this song. It knows its place, so it stays mellow. It's pretty easy to get hooked on this song (and it
- actually is a pretty hyped up OP, though that might be because FMA is so popular), though it takes a little while to
- get going.
- Guilty Crown 2 - I don't understand the beginning. It's this guitar riff that has absolutely no connection to the rest
- of the song. It's fucking weird. And maybe the chorus connects a little loosely. Other than that, really good OP. The
- electronic buzz in the back is surprisingly nice, and the piano is the cherry on top of this song. Pretty neat. Makes
- me wanna watch the anime. A little. Probably won't, though.
- Kill la Kill 1 - KLK is not that bad and not that great. With that out of the way, I don't really have anything else to
- say. Just a solid opening. Pretty good, but not outstanding. I guess it's the same as the anime: a lot of fun if you
- don't think about it too hard. (so if you rated klk a 3 on your mal, you probably did it wrong)
- Log Horizon - I quite like this one. Pretty hard-hitting, but very catchy. I'm pretty sure there's a Rage Against the
- Machine influence in here, too. I don't like the "engrish" very much, though. It's quite bad, and the opening lines are
- cheeiser than they need to be. The fuck does "we're ready for the punchline" even mean?
- Mirai Nikki 2 - Oh, speaking of amazing English, here's the fucking Rosetta Stone right here. That said, despite the
- lyrics the vocals really work in this song, and I like the loud opening that falls a bit just to build throughout the
- song again. The chorus feels a bit lacking, though, except for the ending.
- Owari no Seraph - Shut up Funimation, I'M TRYINA GET FUNKY. The progression of this song is superb. The opening, the
- ascending verse, the bombastic chorus, fuck yeah this opening is awesome. (Shame that its anime got shit reviews.) The
- one thing--ONE THING--that I don't like about this is that it ends on a VERY sudden note, so I think it's a good idea
- to find the full version and jam to that instead.
- Nana 1 - Sorry for the shit quality and slightly cut beginning. This one is... rather obscure. I only found it through
- one of those long ass "top 100 million anime opening" videos, this really stood out from the few I skimmed. Just a
- great rock song overall. I really love it. The verse builds up nicely, the chorus stands boldly, and it ends pretty
- decently. It's fairly standard, but I can dig it.
- Nanatsu no Taizai 2 - Perfect start. The verse is pretty awesome too, though I'm not a fan of how it goes into the
- chorus. :/ There's something about the vocals, too, they're just really great for some reason, and the drumbeat really
- gets me hooked. Great song, pretty good band too.
- Soul Eater 1 - This feels really different for whatever reason, but this OP is thought of pretty highly by many. Which
- is fair, 'cuz it does have a nice catchiness to it; the chorus has a nice hook to it and the song starts quite
- alluringly. The transition from the verse to the chorus is pretty weak, though.
- Toradora! 1 - HERE'S A POP SONG, ARE YOU HAPPY? The vocals are a little too sweet at first, but they work for the song
- pretty well, especially in the chorus, and the back-ups push the song forward. Basically, I didn't expect to like this,
- but it's a pretty good theme.
- -borderline 2-
- Bakemonogatari 1 - This one's a grower. Maybe it'll be Braixen Tier in a while, but maybe I just wanted to assert that
- Hanekawa > Senjougahara. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go into hiding for a while, because I don't want to take
- responsibility for the atomic bomb I just dropped.
- Code Geass 1 - What. Yeah, I see that it's a popular opening. Don't care much. I think the horns are a bit too much,
- and the song itself is just kinda boring. Just can't get into it. Just like my ex-girlfriend. RIP Lux
- Death Note 1 - I dislike this guy's voice; almost sounds like he's forcing some accent or something. IDK. Plus the
- transition into the chorus (and into the verse) is kinda dumb. Just can't get into this one much, but it deserves
- better than the Delphox Tier, at least.
- Nanatsu no Taizai 1 - Not sure if this is pitched or not. Sorry if it is. Anyway, the chorus is pretty weak--the singer
- in general just sounds kinda weak. It's kinda generic, which isn't that big of a deal, I guess, but eh. This one is
- just kinda weak.
- Nisemonogatari 2 - Apparently this one is popular. IDK. Monogatari has a lot of weird openings. It's just too poppy for
- me, but it IS kinda catchy. I don't like Yuka's singing, though.
- Shakugan no Shana 3 - I actually really like the full version of this song, but the shortened opening is just... it
- starts off so promising, but the pitched chorus at the end is forced so hard. It's really bad. It's only there because
- the extra seconds were needed. Listen to the full version. It's so much better. (And it's Kotoko's only good song,
- lel.)
- -delphox-
- Akame ga Kill! 1 - The instrumentation and sometimes the composition itself--they just try too hard in this song. In
- the end, it's still generic, but not admitting to it... JUST LIKE THE ANIME :OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bright side is that
- sora has a pretty good voice.
- Angel Beats! 1 - Fucking fight me. Please, for the love of god, someone fucking explain to me how this opening is so
- goddamn popular. It's one of the highest rated openings of all time. WHY. JUST. FUCKING. WHY. BECAUSE IT HAS A FUCKING
- PIANO? IDK I'M RACKING MY BRAIN HERE AND I DON'T SEE IT. It stays completely one-dimensional for basically the entire
- song. Then the chorus escalates things a little too quickly, and frankly it's not even that good. The chorus sounds
- rushed with how it starts and seems to end pretty suddenly. Just like my mentality. Fuck you, Angel Beats.
- Death Note 2 - RAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH THIS ANIME IS EDGYYYYYYYYYYYYY, DEATH METAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL, THE
- OPENING ACTUALLY SOUNDS GOOD BUT THEN THE LAST 15 SECONDS TRY WAY TO FUCKING HARD, CONGRATS ON RUINING IT YOU FUCKS
- Higurashi - It's kinda cool, but... kinda not at the same time. I like it a little too much, it has a nice unique tone
- to it, but I don't like it that much. The chorus is really bland and feels rushed at the end. Kind of a shame because
- it starts off well.
- Kill la Kill 2 - This one is just... outclassed, I guess. It's not bad, really, but there are so many better openings
- out there. It just feels really average, at best. It ends pretty nicely, though. (and garnidelia has much better
- songs.)
- Haruhi Suzumiya 1 - ^ Kinda the same for this, but this one actually sounds like it's trying to be great. Problem is it
- doesn't try hard enough.
- Shokugeki no Souma 1 - This being one of the 2 anime I'm watching this season, I can safely conclude that this is the
- best anime OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!! GG EVERYONE! ...Oh, yeah, the opening. Who sings this. He/she sucks. Stop singing,
- please. ...but it's not that terrible. lame opening, though. such a shame.
- Spice and Wolf - I hadn't even heard of this anime until like yesterday, but apparently this opening is a big deal. I
- kinda see it. Kinda. I think the full song will be really good, but as an opening it just progresses way too slowly.
- There's no real kick anywhere, just a small slope upwards.
- Steins;Gate - If I were ranking by the animation used, this would be Fennekin tier. It's godly. Appealing, fairly
- creative, doesn't spoil anything (aside from showing characters) but is relevant to the plot. God bless this anime.
- Sadly, it's just the song getting ranked. The vocals here are just meh, and that's the main force driving the song. So
- I guess the whole thing is just meh. Such a shame. GO WATCH STEINS;GATE.
- Sword Art Online II 1 - Eir Aoi just tries way too hard in this song. It's oversung. Many might disagree, but I can't
- shake that thought off. Too much.
- Gurren Lagann - Chorus is weak. Electronics get too distracting. Just kind of an average theme, if anything. But it's
- fun for everyone because it has Yoko in it.
- -inside joke-
- Danmachi - Day 35081, I still hate Hestia with a burning passion. She's a bitch. I called her a bitch right in front of
- her tits. And then I said that the opening of this anime sucks because it's boring as shit and sounds like it was made
- in 30 seconds. Danmachi did nothing right and I hope you all burn in hell for making it a thing.
- Shippuden 2 - NO. STOP IT. FUCK YOU. YOU ARE NOT MY FRIEND. FUCKING STOP. HOLY SHIT SOMEONE HELP ME
- Tokyo Ghoul Square Root Of Captial "a" - A few people walk into a room. They start playing the instruments left out, a
- drum kit, keyboard, bass guitar, etc. One by one, they play some notes, not really regarding each other or thinking
- about what they're actually playing. They're just warming up for whatever they were called in for. Suddenly, someone
- from a speaker yells "CUT!" The musicians are then explained that they just penned the opening for the new Tokyo Ghoul.
- All confused, one hesitantly asks for a second take, which is quickly refused. The man on the intercom then orders
- everyone out, and that's basically how I think this bowl of corncobbed assflakes came into creation.
- Gundoh Musashi - As the band name states, this is obviously the BEST opening. Ever. ...come on, it's funny. just laugh.
- or i'll be BREAKING YOUR FACE!!!!!!!!!!!
- thank you for reading
- all opinions are welcome on the respective thread, no matter how dumb or disapprovingly brutal
- some humor was used, don't get too mad danmachi fans. nah jk fuck danmachi
