- (13:06:18) +errorname457: Speaking of meta though, /pol/ is having a larger influence on not just 4chan but other websites too. There was a meta thread on KC not too long ago where a good chunk of users mentioned how they're worried about falling completely into being /pol/ 2.0
- (13:06:49) +errorname457: Apparently this is occuring on other international boards as well, particularly russian chans.
- (13:06:50) +nikka: kc was pol long time ago
- (13:07:54) +Kazisho: What if some shotpisters just gather on /pol/?
- (13:09:27) +McNuggets: Tough to say for sure, but /pol/ does have its fingers in a lot of pies. Its influence is even starting to hit /u/, which has always been such a slow quiet place.
- (13:09:34) +nikka: if only
- (13:10:19) +errorname457: KC was never too nice but the influence is definitely noticible, and demographic changes there are much more noticible from the flags
- (13:11:45) +Kazisho: del /pol/
- (13:11:49) +Kazisho: Just kidding.
- (13:11:57) +McNuggets: lol
- [...]
- (13:15:27) +errorname457: Anyways, I think this is more of a phase than anything. Go back a little bit and I would say /sp/ was the more dominant culture, and before that it was /v/. Le Chatelier's principle explains imageboard politics well enough: if politics and gender crap is the most topical, it will dominate in the meta.
- (13:15:55) +McNuggets: Well, it's time for it to change. Shit's gettin' old, yo.
- (13:17:04) +McNuggets: Though I will admit that /pol/'s "SRS has infiltrated the Mods" and /g/'s "reCaptcha Failure Script" were pretty funny for a little while.
- (13:17:15) +errorname457: Back around 2006-2007, the videogame industry was in a great situation and /v/ flourished because of it, which also allowed its content become so dominant. The same is true even for smaller boards, such as Avatar with /co/, GoT with /tv/, and the DoW games gave some great /v/-/tg/ interaction

- (13:18:42) +errorname457: Point is, eventually it will stop Happening, but when and for how long I don't know.
- (13:18:45) +AoC: so what you're saying is we should go out and do some great gender neutral games that will get people focused on fun
- (13:18:53) +AoC: and therefore fix /v/
- (13:18:59) +AoC: and the internet too!
- (13:19:52) +errorname457: As silly as that sounds, yes. A significant and sustained surge in quality vidya will probably help 4chan, especially if we encourage it
- (13:20:08) +McNuggets: Fund it!
- (13:20:11) +errorname457: Between the EAs and Gearboxes though, I'm not sure when we can expect it.
- (13:20:25) +AoC: >Gearbox
- (13:20:31) +AoC: what's wrong with them?
- (13:21:28) +AoC: but yeah, at least we can expect some indie devs to pull the weight. Wish they avoid this Game Dev Piracy stunts
- (13:21:57) +AoC: it's all they're going to talk about today, wish is better than Dragon Crown Opression #423
- (13:22:28) +errorname457: They aren't horrible but I would not point to them as an example of a good company. The DLC, BL2 writing, the way their manage their money, etc. No one was happy when they got the Homeworld IP
- (13:24:04) +McNuggets: I can't help with that. I'm a filthy casual. I see a game I like and I play it. I don't really think about the company.
- (13:24:12) +errorname457: And Dragon's Crown has had some good threads, the stupider ones have to be expected.
- (13:24:25) +AoC: Fair enough. I've been enjoying Borderlands 2 gameplay and some of the quest writing. The whole memelands was not that noticeable unless you looked into the challenges menu. Which I notice that /v/ misses out on some good games
- (13:25:00) +AoC: can't believe they're ignoring guacamelee just because of the tasteless signs
- (13:25:18) +errorname457: I like BL2 too, but the writing is god awful. Never heard of guacamelee though.
- (13:25:40) +McNuggets: Then again, most of what I play is Rune Factory type stuff and neither /jp/ nor /v/ wants anything to do with that franchise. I'm 100% ok with that.
- (13:26:07) +errorname457: What? I've seen plenty of rune factory threads on /v/, they're usually pretty civil
- (13:26:40) +AoC: yeah, even the waifu warring is subdued
- (13:27:37) +McNuggets: Oh, I imagine they're there, buried among it all. I'm just too lazy to go look for it.
- (13:27:59) +McNuggets: Wow, really? I would think harem/dating sim type games would be thick with waifu.
- (13:28:06) +McNuggets: Impressive.
- (13:28:55) +McNuggets: Well, maybe I should go look around for them from time to time and contribute. Do my small part for /v/.
- (13:29:31) +McNuggets: RF4 will be released this summer on 3DS, so who knows?
