don't use software inventory, just scans hard drive for individual files and then tries to lookup header info, use HW inventory to get installed software

turn off software metering automatic tracking rules (tracks standard OS stuff like NT kernel).  create just rules what you want
change software metering defaults for summarizing, defaults are at 7 days and 30 days
