Teresa - Survey Response

1. Who is your character? Does he or she have a nickname? How would he or she introduce him- or herself?

Teresa Mai Kurita-Steiner. She would introduce herself as such, but will answer to either Teresa or Mai, and will accept variations there-of from those she considers friends. If she decides she doesn't like someone, she'll insist on Miss Kurita-Steiner, though she usually regrets making an issue of her family name when she cools down.

 

2. What does she or he look like? Does he or she have any distinguishing marks such as scars/tattoos/birthmarks and how he or she got them?

Teresa is fairly short and petite, but athletic. She has long black hair and blue eyes. She usually keeps her hair tied back with a ribbon, though she varies the style depending on whatever strikes her fancy. Even when not in school uniform, she favors fashionable clothes and skirts.

 

3. Where does your character come from? Where was he or she born, and where does he or she consider home now? <for space game one, you were all probably born on colony SCCL026; or maybe moved from a different colony; No one here is probably from earth>

Teresa was born on SCCL003, where the Kurita-Steiner's have their main headquarters and family compound, but her parents moved to SCCL026 when she was very young, so she considers it home.

 

4. Who is (or was) your character's family? What is their status?

The Kurita-Steiners are a wealthy family descended from original colonists. They get their money from industrial holdings, and are active in a variety of space-based ventures, including zero-g forging, space suit design and manufacture, orbital agriculture, and solar power. On her mother's side, the Liu-Vostrikovas are just as wealthy, but in their case due to holding a number of important patents from high-tech and astronomical research.

 

5 & 6. Who is (or was) your character's best friend? Who is (or was) your character's biggest rival or personal enemy? What is their status?

Teresa used to be very close with Sonali Bhatnagar, a classmate who is also the daughter of a wealthy family. Sonali is, on the surface, easier to get along with than Teresa, but in fact it turned out her friendship with Teresa was solely about climbing the social ladder, since the Kurita-Steiners are an older and richer family. Sonali was the one who basically got Teresa kicked out of her old social circle.

 

7. Who is (or was) the most important person in your character's life? What is their status?

Her aunt, Tomoe Christine Kurita-Steiner. Tomoe is a ranger with <bluhbluhbluh>, but she disappeared four years ago whil in-transit between colonies during an investigation. She is believed to have died in an accident, though no wreckage of her craft was ever found.

 

8. What is your character's most important possession? Why is it important to him or her?

Teresa has a necklace given to her by her aunt that she keeps with her at all times. The necklace is silve and has a small piece of dense, black stone that has been rubbed smooth. Tomoe told Teresa that the stone was once part of an asteroid, and that her father had given it to her as a lucky charm.

 

9. What is your character's biggest fear/what do they fear the most? Why does he or she fear this thing?

Theresa is terrified of thunder and lightning, since she never experienced storms when growing up. On a rare family trip to Earth, she was caught in terrible storm while sailing with her father and uncle. She's never really gotten over it.

 

10. Does your character have any strong prejudices (for or against something)? Why does she or he have these prejudices?

Teresa tries to maintain a reasonable view of pokémon, acknowledging that some are dangerous and many are unsuited for living in space, but she has a strong bias in favor of them.

 

11. What is your character's primary motivation? What would drive your character to go on a Pokemon Adventure? Why does he or she do the things he or she does?

Teresa feels a bit smothered by her family's reputation, wealth, and influence. She knows she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth and wants to prove to herself and others that she's her own person and capable of achieving things by her own will and abilities. This is why she tends to be stand-offish - she's never sure whether someone is being friendly because they like her, or because they want to get an in with her family. Of course, her prickly personality just reinforces people's tendency to assume she's a spoiled little rich girl. This is one reason she secretely likes hanging out with the otaku - they tend to be completely oblivious to these concerns most of the time. It's also why she likes cosplay, since in costume she's less likely to be recognized and (contrary to what most people experience) actually gets more natural reactions out of people that way.

 

12. What is your character's primary goal? What does he or she hope to accomplish or do with his or her life? How does he or she propose to reach his or her goal?

Teresa's primary goal is to find a way to prove to the colonists that pokémon deserve a place in space alongside humans, and the benefits of having them there would outweigh the risks.

 

13. What is something that the other characters do not know about your character?

She needs glasses. Teresa doesn't like wearing them, so she always uses contacts, but she keeps a pair in her luggage just in case.

 

14. What kind of Pokemon does your character like? Does your character prefer Pokemon with certain quirks, or of certain shapes? What properties does your character enjoy in a pokemon?

Teresa likes brave and active pokémon. She also gravitates to anything she finds cute, though she won't really admit it.

 

15. What kind of Pokemon does your character dislike?

Teresa tends to get impatient with lazy or timid pokémon. She also doesn't particularly care for electric pokémon, due to her fear of lightning.
