War of the Imgur Wastelands: Part 1 Summary

Our story takes place in the distant future, where the world we know is gone, and instead is a wasteland populated by various tribes vying for power.

These wastes are ruled by a benevolent queen, who keeps the peace between the tribes.

One fateful day, the queen of the wastes is stolen by a dark force from a far away land. This force, an abomination from the pits of hell, believes that the queen is meant to be his bride, and will do anything to see that it happens.

Without their queen, the wasteland tribes struggles for control over the territories evolves into full blown warfare. From within these tribes, two new leaders emerge. One leader preaches peace through coexistence, the other peace through domination. The people of the land split their loyalties between the two new factions, and war continues.

Under the threat of ongoing warfare to the people, a prophet emerges, telling of a place where everyone may one day live in peace, without hunger, pain, or death. The prophet begins a quest for this promised-land, as a last hope for the people.

Tired of seeing his people die, the leader of the peaceful faction devises a plan to end the others reign of terror once and for all. Under the pretense of rescuing the queen of the wastes, the peaceful leader leads his foe into a trap, and slays him. He has once again brought peace to the land, but at a cost. This backhanded, despicable deed, sows the seeds of darkness in his heart, and he slowly succumbs to the forces of evil.

Meanwhile, a despotic leader from lands to the south, pushes his forces to the heart of the wastes looking to expand his territories. A bloody battle commences, and the King with the heart of darkness is dethroned, and relegated to a small claim of land in the corner of the kingdom.

The prophet continues his search for the promised-land, and discovers that information pertaining to it’s location may be found in the lost libraries, which are hidden away in the new territory of the dark king.

The dark king bides his time, and through the forces of evil, regains enough power to slay the current leader of the wastes, and retake his throne, only to be poisoned and killed by a kitchen maiden. The throne now sits empty for the taking.
The prophet finally reaches the lost libraries, only to discover that they had recently crumbled away, and his only hope of finding the promised-land was gone.

It is now that we see the return of the queen, released by her captor, thinking she is now under his control. However, rather than betray her people, she stays hidden away.

With the wastelands leaderless, two new powers emerge laying claim to the throne, and war once again plagues the wastes. As the armies do battle, the abomination makes itself known to the land and decimates both armies, with the help of the resurrected dark King. Convinced that he now has everything he needs to hold the queens heart, he summons her to the kingdom, intending to marry.
But it is not to be. An underground rebellion, in operation since the disappearance of the queen, steals her away and releases her from the abominations control.

His delusions shattered, the abomination finds solace in the touch of a kitchen maiden. The same maiden who before had slain the dark King. A true bond between the two is born, and they fall in love. The love of this woman drives out all thoughts of darkness from the abomination, and he transforms into a mortal man. He no longer has any interest in the throne.

With all competing forces finally laid to rest, the Queen takes her rightful place once again as ruler of the wastelands, and a new era of peace begins.

The prophet who had searched for the promised-land had all but given up hope, when the gods themselves plucked him from this earth, and delivered him to paradise. It is said that he will one day return to lead us all into salvation.

Note: I made some minor changes to the details of the story that took place in the forum, and completely omitted others. This was done in an effort to set the plot for part 2. This doesn’t mean that these events didn’t happen in this universe, or that the characters no longer exist. This summary is also set up in a way that, hopefully, will make it easier for those new to the game to understand.
