The Bughouse was originally a video chat room thrown together in the wake of Avoovoo going down. What is Bughouse? Bughouse is life raft to refugees of Avoovoo.com, Nolongerlonely.com and the [url=http://www.depression-understood.org/]#Depression IRC chat on Quakenet[/url], otherwise known as Depression Understood. We would like to create a safe, welcoming and understanding place for members of those sites and new members alike. This is very much a self-made all inclusive haven for those with mental illnesses. We are playing this by ear, and, we do not want to be a replacement to Avoovoo. Those are shoes we can not fill. What we can do is offer a way of keeping the user base intact so we don't lose the friends we have made in the time Avoovoo has been our home away from home.

The Rules and/or common sense stuff - These rues apply to the forums, private messages and chat.

• Discrimination, bigotry, sexism, transphobia, etc will not be tolerated. This site was designed to be a safe place for everyone, regardless of your race, sex, gender, sexual preferences, disability, physical appearance, religion or lack thereof, creed, political views, etc. Bigotry and sexism will not be tolerated. Please refrain from responding to these kinds of threads. Instead you should report such threads or posts to the moderation team.

• No user shall expressly or implicitly insult, belittle or dehumanize any other user. When in doubt see above. Trolling, Bullying, threatening, or any form of harm to another user will not be tolerated.  If you see such behavior, please report it to the moderation team.

• Please respect other users, as well as the moderation and admin team. If you are warned, or temp banned, don't take it as a personal attack. Take it for what it is and try to better the community by abiding the rules and setting a good example for others.

• Explicit descriptions of drug uses or glorification of drug use is verboten. Any use of illicit drugs on cam or discussion in the forums or in open chat equals automatic ban. Please use your judgement and refrain from illegal activities both on cam or discussion in the forums. We want to protect ourselves and you the user to ensure that the Bughouse will stand the test of time. Please use common sense in regards to this issue. One exception to this rule: Medical marijuana is becoming commonplace in many states as well as for recreational use. Discussions of marijuana are allowed within reason. However, we do not want this to turn into a drugs forum. Another exception to the rule is discussion of the struggle with addiction and its general tendency in worsening mental illness. Once again, common sense is key. If we feel a post is made with the deliberate intent to provoke other users or the site's staff, said user will be dealt with appropriately.

• Please refrain from linking to, posting, or sharing copyrighted material. This is another common sense thing and hosting such material can put the site itself in jeopardy.

• While this is meant to be an adult forum, we still have to adhere to the policies of Prophpbb. This means no posting or sharing of pornographic material. Risque material, such as images that do not display geniality or nipples are technically not against Prophpbb terms of service, but the exchange of this type of material is not what Bughouse was intended for. The purpose of this site is to find online camaraderie, solidarity and discussion of mental illness issues that are relevant to our everyday lives.

• Please do not post or link to SPAM. Posting links to outside services and support groups is okay, but, if you are unsure if something is okay to post, run it by the moderation team. Links in one's signature are acceptable so long as the content of said website is non-pornographic, promoting hate speech or a platform for spreading disinformation or scaremongering in regards to mental illness and things of that nature.

The above rules also extend to private messages. Please report violations to the moderation team.

When posting in the forums, Please be mindful of the content and label as necessary. These common labels should be used when applicable. When in doubt, use a label. These labels should be familiar to everyone.
