- INTRODUCTION
- Hi. Since I started participating in these communities, I've been pondering making a guide of sorts for newbies or those interested in joining this merry band of misfits. If you're here, then you've been redirected probably by someone already in the threads, and it'd probably be worth your while to read this paragraph, at least the FAQ and 'guidelines'.
- Make no mistake; these threads are pretentious circlejerks, there just happen to be a few who prove an exception. With only a brief history under the guise of the average thread on the cesspit of the internet, this online community has witnessed it's share of some of the most interesting individuals the internet has had to offer. From the kind and altruistic guardians, to the well read and intelligent, to individuals wishing for attention.
- As with anywhere else, these rare people are spread thin. These threads are a tribute to the wonderful world of internet personalities.
- These communities find themselves generally divided by interest:
- 1. ~Anime Circlejerks
- 2. ~Pony
- 3. ~Furry
- 4. ~Drawfags
- 5. ~ks/b/
- In common /b/ fashion; none of these places can truly be defined by their names.
- == NOTABLE POSTERS (under construction) ==
- Compiled below is a bit of ongoing information regarding posters, you should probably make yourself aware of if you plan on posting around there. This is more for my own benefit than it is for yours... They are not ranked by how interesting they are or their quality of posting (under construction)
- __LEGENDS__:
- Individuals who have distinguished themselves during their time on the board. Whether for their deeds or what they stood for, they are widely known and regarded as having influenced others and their surroundings.
- "Alice2" - Alice Matrigold - ACTIVE(?)
- Claiming to be a player of 4chan since the early days of the site, much of Alice's story cannot be verified or disputed by anyone other than herself. Adopting the mantle of her predecessor, Alice '2' started around early 2011, making what would become know as her 'advice threads'. Addressing Anonymous and lending an ear to listen and on occasions a shoulder to cry on, Alice aspired to become the 'patron saint of kindness' on the most unforgiving of all boards. Giving advice and supposedly talking people out of suicide at times, Alice on paper may seem difficult to hate. Time told a different story.
- Her career started out with a series of pieces of hype generating propaganda, weaving a story about a fragile little girl who found salvation in the helping of others. These videos and images can be found scattered on Youtube and in the folders of many older members if one cares to look, or by asking Aneki Matrigold herself. These images were generally edited and overlayed with a story that gave rise to a meme.
- ((Arch-nemesis to Alice2, Jack Spicer, professes to unmask "her" as a fraud in the following blogspot, evaluating caps, logs, various claims, and lies. http://alicelied.blogspot.com/ ))
- "Clint" - Clint Eastwood - ACTIVE
- Coming just after the first generation of furry thread trolls, Clint made his name adopting the reputation of a previous troll named Dojo. Together, he and Jack made trouble for the furries for a year or so. Brash, sarcastic, spiteful and cruel were the words often used to describe the demeanor of The Tripfag with NoName (a play on the character, The Man with No Name) For the following four years, he proved to furrykind that he was a force of creative cynicism to be reckoned with. Often, his mere presence heralded a shitstorm. Soon enough, his reputation was known throughout the tripfag and furry community. This resulted in newer trolls participating and becoming a part of his ilk, adopting his style or choosing their own, The Tripfag with No Name was encouraged to continue this for the following year.
- 2011 marked the beginning of the pony threads, which Clint decided to participate in using images of Agent Smith. Initially attacking, the short experience the ponies had with all of 4chan at their heels proved too much for Clint to troll, as he settled for debating the cold and insane intellectuals that made their home there, forming the group known as the Neutrals.
- His legacy is still known throughout various communities, and while it is generally considered that with time his anger has been calmed and his attitude, matured, he is still prone to those moments of pure disgust and ego fueled hate with humanity that is his trademark.
- "Aeris" aka. Incendia aka. Darth Lyra - Aeris VG Cats - INACTIVE
- Aeris started her career pissing off people on /x/ and became widely known for a generation of shitposting. Managing to get herself hated by everyone, she decided around early 2011 when the pony threads were starting to take off to join them for some reason. There was tension and distaste towards Aeris, proving time and time again that she did not care about love or tolerance. Early on in her posting she managed to gain notoriety by getting in arguments with the most popular posters, using logical fallacies, ad homeniem and being abusive anyone who didn't side with her. Befriending those who sided with her and rallying against those who challenged her outright made her popular, but lacking in the types of interactions that could have culled her wrath. Fueled by ego like so many before her, her personality makes her hard to forget.
- After posting in the threads for a year almost consistently without showing signs of letting up, the day came when /mlp/ was created and while the community was being torn apart, she decided to maintain the /b/ronies and keep them fighting to the end. Because of her tenacity, she spurred a sense of loyalty and pride in enough posters to tear the community apart (none more-so than Tom', a French Cupcake knock off with a severe Aeris bias). She had unintentionally become a leader of sorts to the threads. Having recently disappeared from active posting/trolling, it is unknown where in the Serbian tundra he lurks. Still active in various communities not limited to Twitter or DeviantArt, she has turned her gaze to the stars in hopes of becoming a renowned astrophysicist, and has taken up tutelage for maths and science. It also turns out that she was a he all along, and preferred to be called 'Odin'.
- ~Members of the Inaccurately Named 'Triumvirate'~
- Furry
- Though substantial in membership, the furry threads are predominantly populated with social posters looking to spend their time in a community. Everyone knows one another. This unfortunately makes them easy targets.
- - Katia - Insane and silly, and somehow both quiet and reserved when necessary, Katia is one of the older furry posters who has implied countless times she is capable of passionate and murderous acts of love/rape, as well as criticism on Anonymous. On at the most erratic hours and appearing seemingly out of boredom and comment than lengthy conversation, her low key demeanor shouldn't imply a lack of activity.
- - Mugen - A budding artist and a stone cold bunny. Not necessarily interesting, he was previously known as an abrasive posted named 'Brolin'. Returning to the threads under his new name, he pretended to be a female for a while before. Has a reputation for being abusive (a trait exemplified by his avatars) to anyone trying to make friendly conversation to him, and doesn't feel the need to change since a lot of people apparently enjoying being abused. Intolerant of stupidity, he is prone to rare moments where he lowers his guard enough to make a joke or two. Though entirely capable of debate and conversation, he prefers cruel words and biting sarcasm, and is generally rewarded with attention and strangely, admiration. It's also been hinted that he has friends. Is currently dating Cocks, a gfur dumper.
- - Foxy Dani - Anyone who has been to the threads on a Friday is aware of the delusional fur known as Foxy Dani. A lifestyler by humiliating definition, Dani has developed a reputation as the reason the fandom has and will always have a bad name. Infamously known to both his family and friends by his ED page https://encyclopediadramatica.se/Foxy_Dani
- - My Sword - Troll and self proclaimed 'largest faggot of the furries', Swords presents himself as the occasional offensive jester of the threads. While the frequency of his posting has dwindled over the recent months, he was one of the OG trolls of the furry threads. Responsible for deceiving and releasing information about various trollfags, My Sword is intelligent, deceptive, and to be distrusted (though he is probably more well known as 'the guy who green texts')
- - Devnull - Otherwise known as Zenith on steam, and more recently as the individual who has sex with dogs... Null is a gayfur poster who became more a prominent poster after gifting Grape a Steam game in order to garner her favor. Better known by his avatar, Inuyasha, he can also be found at various hours of the day posting and talking about furry related activities or killing his boredom. Defensive and not entirely secure in his personality, he is frequently depressed.
- - Freklz - Once a prominent member of the furry threads, he finds himself more well known in the animus. His time in the gfur threads were spent lurking and posting with an avatar of Hobbes, engaging in short comments and lengthy conversations or plays with Lloyd and various others. Showing an interest in learning as well, the threads supplemented his social life alongside his school. More intimately known for his love of the drums, this Chicagoan who takes maths as a major who was previously known for being cool and laid back, has developed a reputation for being downright tsundere.

- Anime
- Driven by drama and an obsession with one another, the anime threads got their start as roleplayers of Alice2's advice threads, and are probably the most interesting of these groups, despite the amount of wallposters they have.
- -Bern- One of Alice's ilk towards the later days of her roleplayers, Bern was an active member of her IRC. After some amount of drama, Bern took over the role as 'pseudo leader' of the animu threads (this has been confirmed by enough posters who generally consider her as such, therefore making the consensus itself; pseudo official). Enjoys talking to most whilst maintaining conversation, she is another one of those intelligent posters who have seen enough of the same types of participants in a community to draw conclusions, so if you are new and starting out, you may want to try to make a good impression.
- -Darwin- Well connected and of a generally neutral disposition towards most things, Darwin can be seen as one of the more influential posters of the threads. Originally a brony, he made his way onto the animu Steam chat groups and communities mid 2012 and has since only become more involved, being friends with the owner of the NameSync and having access to thread archives (which he openly admits to diving through on occasion). Regarded as one of the higher tier posters, he still generally chooses to lurk and post without images, though mentioning his name during tends to call him out from his perpetual lurk sessions.
- -Eva- Troll with an ego. While bubbly and conversational in normal speech, he is both offensive and defensive when approached. It's generally regarded that Eva has been a throbbing pain in many sides for a few years. Of moderate intelligence and generally informed, he attacks the most active or popular posters with their own information, often taunting them outright, while ignoring or using more basic tactics on the less significant. Eristic in his approach to arguments, Eva is a second rate troll for his reputation. Back in April, Eva has since changed her habits to small talk and has fallen into the same routine as many other posters.
- -Kon- One of the older, currently active posters in the threads from the Alice days. Friendly and sociable without coming across as preoccupied with accumulating replies.
- -Bard- a.k.a Paragon Yui a.k.a The Slyph of /b/. Bard is by default friendly, open and playful when approached and appears to be one of the more 'sincere' posters of a community centered around vying for attention more than leaving a lasting impression. Another one of the veteran posters potentially existing further back than the Alice2 days, Bard had let himself fall victim to more petty and unforgiving sides of emotion over the years. Though not visibly broken by his series of unfortunate events. As well as a blatant product of circumstance, Bard like many others in the circlejerking community, enjoys attention and will use others to increase her own gain.
- -MGD- League of Legends and DOTA2 addict. More recently preoccupied with tower diving than active participation, this tripfag is easily spotted by her stuttering within the threads. The source of drama involving Bard spanning several months and lingering effects up til now, MGD is widely considered to be a troublemaker.
- -Chiri - Likes sushi and other girls. Balancing her posts with careful precision and tone, she is easily spotted on the occasion she goes without her avatar. Can be seen as quite astute in matters of intellect and more than willing to share that insight with others when asked, brought on likely by her life experiences, being one of the more mature posters of the community. Has developed a slight reputation for tearing apart the kind of obvious fools that wander into threads unawares of the, often amusingly creative, wrath of Chiri. Generally regarded as being one of the 'brighter' posters in the threads, her opinions and perspicacity into various fields (including but not limited to art, music, history and social events) and especially that of Japanese cuisine are taken as of value to anyone who cares to read them.
- Neziwi - Mostly harmless. Rude and random.
- Colbert (YtSe) http://imgur.com/fXmNm78,ZaawBDH - Friendly at times, he is the kind of average guy you might have been friends with in high school. Known by everyone but not exactly popular, he likes anime and some TV shows, laughing and jokes and drinking. Sarcastic and random, he is a true child of the threads and their sense of humor. Generally unoffensive and mostly harmless, he likes making friends. (I debated making note of him at all, but he is a prominent face in the threads due to the fact he lacks any social life or life outside of here, other than college.) In addition to his social disposition, he also enjoys stripping down for others when he's drunk.
- -Yoghurt- Previously named 'Medium fag', he was endearingly dubbed 'Yoghurt' by the animus one day. There's a point when the most dis-likable person of a group suddenly becomes the most liked. This is not the case of Yoghurt. He he is still proud of the qualities he possesses such as arrogance and being judgmental that humanity tends to frown upon. Cynical and overly sensitive at times, he doesn't have much of a life to turn to outside of the threads. Predominately and proud of his heterosexuality, yet obsessed with homosexual and bisexual aspects of life and what defines them, he claims to have fucked many women, so I guess he's actually cool. The running joke, that he seemingly encourages, is his near gay obsession with the size and girth of other posters. With an obsession with the petty, 'Yoggie' is the definition of a shitposter. He can be found conversing occasionally in the Anime threads obsessing about Ritsu.

- Pony
- Once the largest and most active, in addition to being the most attacked and despised of the communities on /b/, the Great Pony Empire has slowly lost it's influence and is now kept alive by a small circle of bronies and the occasional Anime or Furfag.
- -Smokey Meadow- One of the longest standing members of the pony collective, and once singlehandedly

- -Terrance-
- Closet gay + furry and possibly psychopath. Creator of b-stats.org and the information tracker, better known as his 'thread finder' tool. Though not a significant player in drama or anything important, he spends a large part of his free-time outside of school watching other people post. As a result, he is one of the more active insomniacs of the Fur threads. Often posting anonymously with the insight that many anons generally do not have, he is easily spotted when he isn't using his custom !!terrance tripcode. Has reduced posting like many others since the start of the summer '13.
- SteveAn
- Known foremost by his ego, with such an ambitious and ambiguous shared history as SteveAn, it is unknown to what degree he claims to have done is true or not. From his several adventures of some kind or acts of one another, this ex-Australian-soldier manages to hold himself in a high regard with an odd talent for self expression and intellectual pursuits. He is a peculiar combination of wit, cleverness and pride, and it's for this reason that he has become infamous across most of the communities. Possessing a style of arguing that manages to infuriate anyone that reads his posts, he has been a nemesis towards both Dash Mercury (pony) and the increasingly hostile, Wastelander (pony), who has made it his life goal to seek out and destroy SteveAn.
- Babs (Babseed) aka. Mercury
- Cupcake
- The most remembered and beloved poster of the early pony threads, and responsible for pony creed: "Love, Tolerance, Friendship, and Kindness are the most important things a /b/rony can have, let’s spread some joy and post some ponies!". Cupcake served as a leader to the growing pony community from January 2011 for close to a year. His popularity and kindly disposition lead him to be the victim of several attacks by anons seeking to destroy the pony threads. Often criticized and attacked by Aeris upon his entering the threads, Cupcake served as a friend and respected member of the community to many. Can be currently found posting in the Anime threads.
- -Milky-
- Known for providing the /b/ and Anonymous community with the scripts and addons necessary for being a part of these communities. Without Milky, a lot of us wouldn't be where we are now.
- Jack Spicer
- One of the oldest and still existing trolls of /b/, Jack developed a reputation as a threat to both Alice2 and the ponies during their beginnings. As soon as captchas were introduced, however, Jack found himself and his Hammer of Dawn to be useless in destroying the threads. Having been around as long as he has, his images and need for a sense of appearance have driven him to swear to destroy almost every community and individual that has used a tripcode. At one point, he and Eva managed to send the pony threads into chaos for a couple weeks by pushing Aeris' buttons, and has not been noticed in any notable regard since... until July '13. He has recently donned the name "Kariri~n" and while he spouts the same notions of anti-Alice, he has since adopted a calmer disposition.
- If U Seek Amy
- Starting as Misa Amane on the /x/ board, he has been impersonating females ever since. Probably the most well known trap of the triumvirate, this chronically bipolar individual (for better or for worse) can be found struggling with his sexual and gender identity on both the pony and anime threads. Images of Ben in long rainbow socks and underwear can be found by asking around. Wherever there is an Amy, a Loco does not often follow behind, his tsundere disposition often clashing with Amy's blunt attitude, but complimenting dark sense of humor.
- He
- - Grape -
- Responsible for the current generation of hugbox threads and general 'Godfather' of the /b/ furries, she spends her time causing trouble for fellow posters, drawing guro for her fellow posters or hitting on Katia. During the summer or 2012, she accumulated popularity with new avatar posters who began posting in her self named threads. Whether as a result of the social atmosphere created by her participation is unknown, but generally assumed that it resulted in the current 'generation' of furry avatars. Has recently disappeared as of June '13.
- Seff -
- Nefel - Present in both the furs and animus and under different names, his personality is easily spotted from a distance. Mature despite his age and relatively open about his family, the threads are his source of escape from the dull-drums of life as like so many here. His obvious wit and disposition towards others makes him one of the few posters worth Ctrl+F'ing.
- GUIDELINES
- This is the internet. And these threads are on /b/. We like to think of them more as... guidelines.
- 1. Keep it in one thread
- 2. No wallposting. Wallposting is generally frowned upon but sometimes it can't be helped. Replying to as many people as you can may be tempting, but it takes up valuable pixels.
- 3. No spamming (will earn you a ban, anyways)
- HISTORY (under construction)
- Generation X
- The letter is arbitrary, but where the history begins is not. Generation X is chronicled by four main characteristics in the changes to the communities on /b/. Though subtle, the lull of the Anime threads, 'Grape' generation and perpetual hugboxing of the Furs, the plateau of the Ponies and the attempts by SmokeyMeadow to keep the threads alive and the emergence of the Drawfag threads. Though seemingly dark, communities like these have all seen their darker days. A dwindling participation, a cessation of once interesting and driven characters and antagonists, and the complacency people with not stepping outside of their routines mark the beginning of this current generation.
- The most significant cross-community drama that occurred this generation involves Seff, creator and host of thereisnosanity.com. With the intentions of creating a site centered towards bringing together the users of Milky's script, Seff ended up causing a storm of drama that involved the sub-board of /g/. The site contained information such as the posting numbers, tripcodes and details of posting habits from the threads. This developed into a sort of leaderboard for the threads, as shitposters were encouraged to compete with one another by boosting their numbers. It was special kind of cancer that Seff did not intend. Cocks and host of the 'Threads about nothing', Admiral HAL, found themselves on an increasingly popular image detailing information about both of the posters and that they were supposedly leaders that had to be 'taken down'. The attention these posters drew to themselves gain so much as to alert the attention of the MODS. The MODS began banning tripfags on sight. It wasn't long before Seff was accused of working with m00t, Mr. Poole himself suggesting that Seff had only wanted to help him out. It was a betrayal to the community that was not soon forgotten, despite the efforts of Seff for the following months.
- Since that time, few things had transpired in any of the communities. Until around January of 2013. Noted furry posters began forming couples over the span of several weeks, almost unheard of since Clint and Katz. The first of which were Mugen and Did Somebody Say Cocks, showing to those who didn't know him as well that there must be something behind his cold exterior to rope the kind of person that appears so outwardly kind. This was followed by Squash publicly admitting his attraction to MrGizzyRay, who had someone in he cared for real life. Shortly after Ice and HAL became a perverted duo, Templar and Ursine, and Squash and Eddy, more well known for his presence in the pony threads. This was met with outcries of disbelief from David and a few others, swearing that none of this would end well... however, with surprising maturity and unwarranted drama, the stories of these couples played a larger role in the threads than some may have liked. Travel plans and sexual advances became a a more familiar, common occurrence.
- The animu threads around this time experienced a period of time free from trolls and relatively little drama to note of. This lead to developed friendships and increased activity in Steam rather than in the threads, leading to slows. A sudden plateauing of the threads that was broken by Kanra for a period of time, who acted by bringing to light meta discussions about the threads themselves and their members. Often singling out individuals, his bleak outlook on the threads was met with mixed opinions. Falling shortly back into petty drama, members like Advena, Grim, Fortune, Manaka and the elusive Shiro, set the tone for the next several months. Focusing on small talk and socializing; the stage once set by Alice and other 'interesting' posters, was changed for the worse. Nothing of importance occurred for a very, very long time. Though as of early August '13, Jack Spicer has recently returned donning the same attitude but a new face; that of a snaggletooth'd loli.
- The month of July saw rise to one of the newest members of the circlejerking community; ks/b/.
- Originally several linking threads based on the discussion of the popular Japanese visual novel, 'Katawa Shojou', it wasn't long before members began to feel the need to identify themselves from one another. Adopting the namesync and the tools necessary for promoting individuality, members of the threads soon found themselves discussing each other and their personal experiences with the VN over several days even, returning, and keeping up with who had completed what routes and how they felt about the game. (Not sure what KS is? Feel free to ask ks/b/ and be prepared to read several infographs and copypastas, some encouraging you to play and others being as objective as possible.) It wasn't long before members of the animu community like Colbert, Wish and more notably, Kanra, found the community a potential new source of entertainment as their usual stomping grounds grew stangant.
- FAQ
- - How do I use a 'tripcode'?
- From 4chan FAQ: Tripcodes can help verify a user's identity to others, and are a type of pseudo-registration. To use a normal tripcode, place a hash mark ("#") followed by a word or short phrase after what you've entered into the [Name] field (ex. "User#password"). Upon submission, the server will generate the hash unique to that particular word or phrase. The previous example would display "User !ozOtJW9BFA" after being posted.
- Important note: A tripcode is generated only using the text entered after the hash mark. Your entered name, IP address, cookie information, etc. do not affect the output. Normal tripcodes are not secure; they can be cracked with relative ease. For a more secure solution, see secure tripcodes.
- - How do I get a 'tricode'?
- There are several popular tripcode generating pieces of software currently available. If you have the processing power and the means, I would go with Tripcode Explorer
- (http://desktopthread.com/Tripcode_Explorer/)
- Instructions and UI are fairly simple.
- - What do people use to contact each other outside of the threads?
- Steam is probably the most popular one at the moment among gamers, but Skype and MSN too. It's generally best to get all three, and an e-mail.
- - How do I get on the Pastebin?
- When I or someone takes an interest in you.
