  12. Marking the first of several releases scheduled for this year under the new annual software maintenance scheme, new features in PFTrack and PFMatchit 2012.1 include:

  14. PFBarrel for Nuke
  15. Previously only available for Shake, PFBarrel for Nuke significantly enhances the lens workflow between The Pixel Farm's products and The Foundry's Nuke compositing application. Lens data exported from PFTrack and PFMatchit is imported directly into Nuke through the PFBarrel plugin.All calibrated lens data to be manipulated and utilized in a number of ways. The most obvious use of PFBarrel is to apply the dynamics of the original lens to rendered CG layers when compositing them with the live action plate.

  21. Further enhancements to our mask manager enable faster and more accurate masks throughout the application.

  23.     X-Splines: Mask shapes may be created using x-splines, which inherently allow for quick adjustments to the shape and smoothness of the curve, and the softness of edges.
  24.     Fuzzy Selection masks: Allows masks to be created based on a colour selection, and refined using colour falloff and spacial consistency parameters.

  38. Improved Mask Tracking Fuctionality
  39. A number of enhancements have been made to improve the way masks can be tracked through a sequence:

  41.     Use Pixels %: This specifies the percentage of pixels used to estimate the tracking transformation.
  42.     Outliers %: This can be used to enter the approximate number of outlier pixels (i.e. pixels that are not actually part of the layer) when using the Robust tracking mode.
  43.     Compensate for Illumination: When enabled, small changes in image brightness will be compensated for during tracking.
  44.     Robust Tracking: When enabled, it is assumed that some of the pixels contains inside the mask are not actually part of the object being tracked, and should therefore be ignored during tracking.
  45.     Incremental Tracking: When enabled, the tracking template (i.e. the image that is being matched in each frame) will be updated at every frame. This means that when tracking over a large number of frames, the tracking template is able to adapt to small changes in the image content.

  47. New Z-depth(PFTrack only)
  48. PFTracks renowned Z-Depth generation node just got better. Unique to the industry, and widely used in such industries as 2D to 3D conversion is now faster and more accurate than ever.

  50.     The node now allows z-depth to be calculated for a single frame, and then tracked through the sequence to significantly accelerate the creation of depth data.
  51.     The Merge tool may then be used to analyse the calculated z-depth, merge it across multiple frames, and produce a smoother transition of depth values from frame-to-frame.

  61. New Embedded Maintenance & Support UI
  62. To compliment our newly launched Software Maintenance and Operational Support scheme. An embedded UI has been included in all 2012 PF applications which provides direct portal to our development team and support staff.

  64.    When support is required, or a bug reported, the web UI will automatically include workstation specifications, along with the Pixel Farm software log, to assist with the diagnosis of the problem.
  65.    Specific user feature requests can also be made.
  66.    All requests(Bugs/Support/Features) are handled seperately and their status is reported back directly to the user using a ticketing system.

In additional to the key features above, PFTrack & PFMatchit 2012.1 also benefit from a variety of UI and workflow enhancements resulting from numerous feature requests we've received from our users. Increased stability and various bug fixes round out the list, collectively contributing to a significant upgrade to kick off the year.
