  1. If you have ever felt that standard walljumps weren't flashy enough and you wanted a less practical way to style on your opponents with walljumps then this thread is for you! Now you get to use reverse walljumps to swag out.
  2.
  3. This Tech is an extension of the well known Doraki ledge/instant walljump. The Doraki ledge walljump allows certain characters to double jump to the ledge while hugging the wall. Since the game still believes you are riding the wall and lets you walljump from the ledge. This is what Fox's Doraki ledge walljump looks like.
  4.
  5. A slightly lesser known use of storing walljumps is the Doraki Reverse Walljump. Here is a video from 2009 by DashDanceDan showing it off. This works by having Fox jump into the right wall until he touches the ground. This works because he jumps into the right wall and holds in as he falls, once on the ground the game is no longer updating if you are hugging a wall or not allowing him to walk over to the left wall and start a jump. Now the game sees that you are in the air and it rechecks if you are hugging a wall and it confirms that you still are. So now when you press analog into the wall it does the leftward walljump that it was storing from the right wall. People realized this was possible on other stages like Onett that have two walls and ground connecting them so you can navigate from one wall to another without jumping. That is all known information for many years.
  6.
  7. What people did not realize (or I could not find any reference of) is that certain movement options and B moves allow characters to navigate around a level without losing the stored walljump. Here is a list of moves every character can preform and retain their stored walljump.
  8.
  9. Airdodge (neutral or angled)
  10. Stand, getup attack, or roll from ledge
  11. Shielding, rolling, or sidestepping
  12. Tech rolls or tech in place
  13. Missing a tech and rolling, standing, or doing a get up attack
  14. Shield breaks
  15. Non-special moves, grabs, throws (there are likely exceptions to this for some characters, I did not test every characters attacks)
  16. Each character also has B moves that won't lose the stored walljump they can use to navigate to another wall or ledge, I will list each characters B moves that can be used for movement later in this thread. Since Fox is capable of Doraki ledge walljumping and can use firefox to grab another ledge Fox can preform a reverse walljump from ledge on FD. This is what all that looks like in action, link. You do not need to grab the ledge to store your walljump and get on stage if you use an airdodge or one of the compatible B moves for your character while hugging a wall that will also work. Here is an example of Falco storing the walljump and getting back on stage without the ledge, link.
  17.
  18. In that example, Fox grabs the ledge with a double jump while hugging the wall and stores a leftward walljump. Fox now uses stand from ledge and up-b to move from the left ledge to the right ledge without ever losing the stored leftward walljump. Fox now drops from ledge (I like to use c-stick to avoid fastfalling or drifting away) and press in on the analog stick activating a reverse walljump.
  19.
  20. Of the 8 characters who can walljump only three can preform a reverse ledge walljump on FD without assistance from a 2nd player. These characters are Fox, Falco, and Young Link. Mario, Sheik, Falcon, and Pichu are capable of preforming a Doraki ledge walljumps on stage like Fourside or Mushroom Kingdom II with long flat walls but can not seem to preform a reversed ledge wall jump (this is likely due to their ECB touching the wall while holding the ledge but as soon as they drop from the ledge their ECB is no longer touching the wall). Samus can preform a a Doraki ledge walljump and a reverse ledge walljump but can not do either of these on FD. It is worth noting that Falco is not capable of preforming a normal Doraki ledge walljump on FD but he is capable of preforming a reverse ledge walljump. This means it is possible that some characters can now reverse ledge walljump on stages they could not normally Doraki ledge walljump. I did not test each character on every stage so feel free to test other stages with your main and reply with any new discoveries.
  21.
  22. There are other methods to preform a reverse walljump without using FD's ledge. Some characters have a lot of utility with specials like Young Link and Samus who can both use bombs to launch themselves in the air and then use airdodge and grapple to navigate to a stages wall without losing the stored walljump. For those of us who don't main characters with grapples or bombs there are still two more ways I know of to preform reverse walljumps on legal stages, Randall the cloud and Pokemon Stadium's transformation. There a lot of character specific information for none ledge based reverse walljumps so I will organize the next part of the thread in character specific sections so that you can read about the mechanics behind each characters reverse wall jumps that interest you. I will list the setups for using Randall to reverse wall jumps on the left and right side for each character. Pokemon Stadium has too many different ways to setup and use reverse walljumps so read about how your character works and try them out for yourselves. I will have some examples of Pokemon Stadium reverse walljumps and information about the stage further down.
  23.
  24. Fox
  25. Grounded Reverse Walljump Method: Fox preforms a reverse wall jump by hugging a wall starting a jump and pressing analog into the wall during or after the last two frames of jumpsquat (must have analog neutral the frame before you press in).
  26.
  27. Capable of Reverse Ledge Walljump: Yes (FD)
  28.
  29. Movement Specials That Store Walljump:
  30. Up-B (jumping before Up-B still causes the game to update if you are hugging a wall or not)
  31. Side-B, grounded and aerial
  32. Down-B, can dash into it and slide off platforms, can start on a platform wait and then drop through the platform
  33. Neutral-B, can dash into crouch, fire a laser and then slide off a ledge (can continue firing as you fall)
  34. Randall Setups: Right side, face away, slide off, press in, link. Left side shove into wall, slide off, analog in, link.
  35.
  36. Falco
  37. Grounded Reverse Walljump Method: Falco preforms a reverse wall jump by hugging a wall starting a jump and pressing analog into the wall during or after the last two frames of jumpsquat (must have analog neutral the frame before you press in).
  38.
  39. Capable of Reverse Ledge Walljump: Yes (FD)
  40.
  41. Movement Specials That Store Walljump:
  42. Up-B (jumping before Up-B causes the game to update if you are hugging a wall or not)
  43. Side-B, grounded and aerial
  44. Down-B, can dash into it and slide off platforms, can start on a platform wait and then drop through the platform
  45. Neutral-B, can dash into crouch, fire a laser and then slide off a ledge (can continue firing as you fall)
  46. Randall Setups: Right side, face away, slide off, press in, link. Left side, face away, crouch, slide off, analog in (2 frame window), link.
  47.
  48. Sheik
  49. Grounded Reverse Walljump Method: Sheik preforms a reverse wall jump by either hugging a wall and starting a backflip or walking into a wall and starting a jump and pressing into the wall during the last two frames of jumpsquat (must have analog neutral the frame before you press in).
  50.
  51. Capable of Reverse Ledge Walljump: No
  52.
  53. Movement Specials That Store Walljump:
  54. Up-B (jumping before Up-B causes the game to update if you are hugging a wall or not)
  55. Side-B, can dash into crouch, pull out whip and then slide off a ledge
  56. Neutral-B, can dash into crouch, charge needles and then slide off a ledge (can hold charge as you fall)
  57. Randall Setups: Right side, face away, slide off, press in, link. Left side, ride Randall until you can hug the wall, walk into wall until you slide off, press in, link.
  58.
  59. Captain Falcon
  60. Grounded Reverse Walljump Method: Captain Falcon preforms a reverse wall jump by rolling into a wall starting a jump facing either way and pressing into the wall during the last two frames of jumpsquat (must have analog neutral the frame before you press in). If Captain Falcon does a neutral jump he can walljump for 2 frames after jumpsquat, if he does a forward jump he can jump as late as the 4th frame after jumpsquat.
  61.
  62. Capable of Reverse Ledge Walljump: No
  63.
  64. Movement Specials That Store Walljump:
  65. Up-B (jumping before Up-B causes the game to update if you are hugging a wall or not)
  66. Side-B, grounded and aerial
  67. Down-B, grounded and aerial, can kick off a wall if it you land on a platform while near the apex of its height
  68. Neutral-B, can dash into crouch, falcon punch and then slide off a ledge
  69.
  70. Randall Setups: Right side, face away, slide off, press in (1 frame window), link. Left side, wait until Randall pushes you into the wall, jump, press analog in during jump squat, link.
  71.
  72. Samus
  73. Grounded Reverse Walljump Method: Samus preforms a reverse wall jump by hugging a wall starting a jump and pressing analog into the wall during or after the last two frames of jumpsquat (must have analog neutral the frame before you press in).
  74.
  75. Capable of Reverse Ledge Walljump: Yes (Can't on FD)
  76.
  77. Movement Specials That Store Walljump:
  78. Up-B (jumping before Up-B causes the game to update if you are hugging a wall or not)
  79. Side-B, can dash into crouch, missle and slide off a platform
  80. Down-B, Samus can launch herself by a bomb and use Up-B or aidodge into grapple. You can repeatedly use bombs as long they are timed well enough that Samus does not finish exiting her morphball. Samus being launched by her bomb puts her back into morphball and allows an a followup bomb with easy timing to stay in morphball..
  81. Neutral-B, can dash into crouch, charge shot and slide off a ledge
  82. Z-air, Samus can grapple and pull in before fulling hanging and reverse walljump.
  83. Randall Setups: Right side, face away, slide off, press in, link. Left side, ride Randall until you can hug the wall, jump, press in sometime after jumpsquat, link.
  84.
  85. Other Setups: Samus can use two bombs and navigate herself off the stage and into Yoshi's wall before exiting morph ball once hugging the wall letting her reverse walljump, link. This is difficult to preform as you need to start hugging at the first flat wall section of yoshi's while holding analog in, release analog to neutral without pressing away at all, and press in again to activate the walljump before Samus touches the slightly extended lip between where Randall enters and exits.
  86.
  87. Samus is capable of reverse walljumping from grapple including some none 90 degree walls like Hyrule Temple, link.
  88.
  89. I did not find any other reverse walljumps on other legal stages but I did not spend very long testing and I am not well informed of Samus's mechanics. So if someone who is more knowledgeable with Samus spends some time they will likely find setups on other stages or discover new information that opens up a lot of new opportunities.
  90.
  91. Mario
  92. Grounded Reverse Walljump Method: Mario preforms a reverse wall jump by hugging a wall starting a jump and pressing analog into the wall during or after the last two frames of jumpsquat (must have analog neutral the frame before you press in).
  93.
  94. Capable of Reverse Ledge Walljump: No
  95.
  96. Movement Specials That Store Walljump:
  97. Down-B, If you slide off too early it will lose the stored walljump)
  98. Neutral-B, can walk into fireball and slide off a ledge
  99. Randall Setups: Right side, face away, slide off, press in, link. Left side, wait until Randall touches the wall, walk into the wall until you slide off, press in, link.
  100.
  101. Young Link
  102. Grounded Reverse Walljump Method: Young Link preforms a reverse wall jump by hugging a wall starting a jump and pressing analog into the wall during or after the last two frames of jumpsquat (must have analog neutral the frame before you press in).
  103.
  104. Capable of Reverse Ledge Walljump: Yes (FD)
  105.
  106. Movement Specials That Store Walljump:
  107. Up-B (jumping before Up-B causes the game to update if you are hugging a wall or not)
  108. Side-B, can dash into crouch, boomerang and slide off a ledge
  109. Down-B, Young Link can down throw his bomb while DI-ing up and Up-B or airdoge into grapple.
  110. Neutral-B, can walk into bow charge and fall off a ledge (can continue charging as you fall)
  111. Z-air, Young Link can grapple and pull in after fully hanging or slightly before and reverse walljump
  112. Randall Setups: Right side, face away, slide off, press in, link. Left side, ride Randall until you can hug the wall, jump, press in sometime after jumpsquat, link.
  113.
  114. Other Setups: I think there is a lot of potential for other setups for Young Link with his bomb into airdodge and grapple and if more testing is done I feel confident people will find more setups. Currently the only legal stage I have successfully done a grapple into reverse walljump is on Pokemon Stadium's rock transformation, link. I think I did a grapple into reverse walljump on Yoshi's Story once but, I could not repeat it even from the same save state.
  115.
  116. Pichu
  117. Grounded Reverse Walljump Method: Pichu preforms a reverse wall jump by walking into a wall and starting a jump and pressing into the wall during the last two frames of jumpsquat (must have analog neutral the frame before you press in).
  118.
  119. Capable of Reverse Ledge Walljump: No
  120.
  121. Movement Specials That Store Walljump:
  122. Up-B (jumping before Up-B causes the game to update if you are hugging a wall or not)
  123. Side-B, need to land before pichu is capable of mid-air jumping
  124. Down-B, can walk into thunder and slide of a ledge
  125. Neutral-B, can walk into thunderjolt and slide off a ledge
  126. Randall Setups: Right side, face away, slide off, press in, link. Left side, face away, crouch, slide off, press in (2 frame window), link.
  127.
  128.
  129.
  130. So now you have all the character specific information, what characters can reverse ledge walljump on FD, and each characters Randall reverse walljump setups, all that is left is to talk about using reverse walljumps on Pokemon Stadium's rock and fire transformation. Here is an image of fire transformation environment, as you can see three of the four walls have small slopes underneath them. This isn't a problem for storing walljumps as they w
