  1. A true Soviet patriot. A good portion of the men who had taken Berlin had been under his command as a field officer, and, following the war, he was scalped into the GRU-P, where he had a prestigious rise in rank, but felt like he was not doing anything to further his country. The discovery of тяжелая крейсерская 000 has given him a plan to change that… quite drastically. He intends to use the Tsar’s Key device to change the balance of the Cold War. He’s not a monster, or even an evil man- if he could, he’d merely use the Tsar’s Key as a threat and get the rest of the world to capitulate without shedding a drop of blood. However, if it takes an ocean of corpses to assure his country supremacy, that is a price he is willing to pay.
  2. Timurov is a ruthless man, and a very intelligent one, but he legitimately believes he is working towards a good cause. He might have to do some reprehensible things, but he believes the ends justify the means. He saw enough Russian men die in the two world wars that he wants to make sure they never have to again. And if the only way to achieve that goal is holding the Tsar’s Key to the throat of the world, so be it.
