  1. All moderators on the Empire network
  2. will be expected and required to follow
  3. these guidelines at all times.
  4. General Guidelines
  5.
  6. As a moderator on the Empire network, your responsibility is to do your best to maintain order on the servers so that we can give our players the best experience that we can offer. However, it is important to remember that you are not the police. You are meant to make the server a more enjoyable environment for our players, not a less enjoyable one. Moderating is not so much about punishing people as it is understanding what went wrong, and how we can fix it and prevent it from happening again. In some situations, these issues are resolved with use of moderation, but not always. Those situations that will require moderation will be listed in this document.
  7. Having said that, do not take it upon yourself to ‘make up your own rules.’ If you see a player doing something you don’t think they should be doing, contact an admin to see if a new rule needs to be made. Do not act until you have heard back from the admin, and if you think something should be added to the rules, let someone know so that it could possibly be added. Anything players do that is not specified as against the rules in this document is not punishable. If we’ve forgotten to add something, it’s mostly our fault for not mentioning them, so it’s not fair to punish players for this.
  8. You should also never ‘play with’ or misuse your permissions. This means using your permissions in situations where they aren’t needed and should not be used. For example, kicking, banning, or muting your friends as a joke. These actions are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Doing this will likely result in a demotion or revocation of permissions.
  9.
  10. Also, you are expected to never reveal any information to players that you would not have known if you were a normal player. This includes any discussion held in staff chat on discord or in game, unless otherwise specified. Depending on the severity of the information leaked, violating this guideline will likely result in a full demotion and possibly a full ban.
  11. Never abuse your permissions for your own personal benefit
  12. (obviously)
  13. Attitude/Behavioral Expectations
  14.
  15. As a staff member, you should try your best to maintain a respectable image of the staff team. You should treat players with respect, and should refrain from engaging in petty arguments, as this will tarnish the reputation of the staff team as a whole. You are expected to act professionally in all situations in-game and when you are dealing with players’ issues.
  16. Again, always be polite to players; do not disrespect them, regardless of their attitude towards you. If you feel they are offending you, ignore their behavior and proceed with assisting them. If the player does not need help, then you are not required to respond to them, especially if they’re taunting you, however you must always be helpful to players. Do not ignore them when they need help.
  17. In regards to these expectations concerning other staff members, as mentioned before, you are required to maintain a respectable image of the staff team. This means you should never engage in arguments with other staff members in game, nor should you flood the staff chat by doing this. If you have a problem with another staff member, speak to them about it privately, or report them to an admin if you believe they’re doing something that violates our expectations.
  18. Responsibility Expectations
  19.
  20. Trial Moderator
  21.
  22. As a trial moderator, you are expected to make sure the chat is clean and enjoyable for our players. This doesn’t mean to mute everyone who says mean things. We offer freedom of speech to our players, but when things get out of hand, that’s where you step in. Refer to the ‘Chat’ portion of the ‘Acting with Moderation’ section for a better understanding. This is your way to prove to us that you can handle a staff position on our servers. You also have watcher permissions, which allow you to be vanished and to tp to players in the warzone to spectate them. If you believe the player is hacking or breaking a rule, report it to a moderator. This helps to build your credibility and allows us to have a better grasp on your judgement so that you might be promoted.
  23. Moderator (inherits trial moderator responsibilities)
  24.
  25. As a moderator, you are expected to respectfully moderate the warzone, to the best of your ability, with the permissions given to you. A moderator should value patience, and accuracy. You should always be 100% confident before acting with moderation. Your goal should not be to punish players, but to make sure the server is as enjoyable as possible. Familiarize yourself with the economy. This is not required, but players will look up to you when they have questions concerning this topic. You should monitor the stall region, and make sure players are satisfied by clearing up any questions they might have about stalls, and notifying an upper staff member when a player needs a buying shop.
  26. Moderator+ (inherits moderator responsibilities)
  27.
  28. As a Moderator+, you are expected to assist players with issues the other staff ranks are not able to help with. This is a highly trusted rank, and you should act as a role model for the other staff members. Some things you might need to help players with could be to create buying stalls, or to mod trades trades by modifying players’ inventories.
  29. All staff members will be expected to maintain decent in-game activity, as well as communicative involvement via the discord staff chat. If you fail to act upon your responsibilities, there is a chance that you may be demoted.
