  1. It was another day in the Loud house as Lucy sat on her bed shuffling her tarot cards, laying them in front of her to divine her fortune. Meanwhile Lynn was also on her own bed, tossing a tennis ball against the wall much to Lucy's chagrin. Lucy tried to focus on the spirits' calls and whispers, but her concentration was broken with each squeak that the tennis ball emanated.
  2.
  3. "Lynn, could you not throw that ball at the wall? I'm trying to concentrate."
  4.
  5. "Fine." Said Lynn with a snark, putting the ball away and shooting a Lucy a dirty look.
  6.
  7. Lucy breathed in as she closed her eyes; she could now hear the spirits properly. She shuffled her tarot cards once more before drawing from the top of the deck. Opening her eyes, she was greeted with the card of death; a dreadful portent. She dropped the card in fear, frightful of the omen of death the spirits had bestowed on her.
  8.
  9. "You okay Lucy?" Ask Lynn, noticing her rapid mood change.
  10.
  11. "Y-Yeah I'm fine, don't worry about me." Said Lucy with a forced smile, trying to convince a skeptical Lynn.
  12.
  13. After a minute of staring her down, Lynn broke her gaze.
  14.
  15. "Can I go back to tossing my ball?"
  16.
  17. "Yeah, sure; don't mind me." Lucy hopped off her bed and retreated into the vents to deliberate on what had just transpired.
  18.
  19. "...Huh." Said Lynn before tossing her ball at the wall again.
  20.
  21. The day continued and Lynn watched Lucy shamble through the day; there was something bothering her but she wouldn't say. Lucy walked around the house with light feet; now it was her turn to be the one startled as Lynn suddenly appeared behind her.
  22.
  23. "Lucy what's going on? You're acting all weird! Well, more weird than usual."
  24.
  25. "What? I'm not acting weird, I'm perfectly fine. I uh, I think mom's calling me." Said Lucy before dashing out of sight, causing Lynn to sigh in annoyance.
  26.
  27. Determined to get to the bottom of this, Lynn pursued Lucy through the rest of the day, always finding Lucy in a secluded area before vanishing out of sight. Lynn eventually grew worried for her sister, wondering what could have rattled her so much. Looking around for her, she stopped to ask Lincoln if she had seen Lucy.
  28.
  29. "Hey Linc, have you seen Lucy anywhere? I can't seem to find her."
  30.
  31. "I think I saw her up in the attic, she's been acting really strange today."
  32.
  33. "Tell me about it..."
  34.
  35. Lynn climbed into the attic, turning on the light and looking around.
  36.
  37. "Lucy? You here?" Said Lynn as she rummaged around, moving boxes aside in hopes of finding her sister.
  38.
  39. Lynn continued searching and was about to give up before she heard a quiet sneeze amidst the boxes in the back, prompting Lynn to dig her way through and find her.
  40.
  41. "Lucy!"
  42.
  43. "Oh, hi Lynn..."
  44.
  45. "What is going on?? You've been avoiding me all day!"
  46.
  47. "I-It's nothing, don't worry about me. I'm just... Writing some poetry! Yeah, that's it." Lucy pulled out her notepad and pencil, giving Lynn a faux smile.
  48.
  49. Once again Lynn eyed her carefully, but decided to leave her alone for the time being, just in case she really was writing poetry.
  50.
  51. "Alright, I'm still not entirely convinced though."
  52.
  53. Eventually though the day came to a close, and Lucy was forced to return to her room.
  54.
  55. "Lucy the day is over, NOW will you tell me what's going on?" Lynn stared Lucy down, determined to get an answer from her sister.
  56.
  57. "I-I don't want to worry you; it's my problem."
  58.
  59. "Lucy, you're my sister! Your problems are my problems! Just tell me what's going on and I'll help you out!"
  60.
  61. Lucy turned her head and didn't reply, causing Lynn to turn red with frustration.
  62.
  63. "FINE! If you don't want to tell me then fine! GOOD NIGHT!" Lynn quickly hopped in bed and got under the covers, her back turned to Lucy. In her anger though, tears welled in Lynn's eyes.
  64.
  65. Looking remorseful, Lucy turned the bedroom light off and slipped into bed, neither of them uttering a good night.
  66.
  67. ...
  68.
  69. Lucy tossed and turned as time passed on, unable to sleep out of fear; she was frightened that death would come for her as she slept. She was constantly flipping her pillow over, trying to get comfortable, but not too comfortable. As she turned though, she saw Lynn, whose back was still turned. Lucy dwelt on the day’s events, and how Lynn was always there trying to help her through it.
  70.
  71. Meanwhile Lynn had not slept yet either, she was too busy worrying about what could be hounding Lucy so much. Lynn had always thought that Lucy was one of her closest sisters, so the fact that she was unwilling to share her troubles with Lynn shook her. As her mind raced, she felt a tug on her pajamas; it was Lucy, holding her pillow tightly.
  72.
  73. "H-Hey Lynn?"
  74.
  75. "Yeah?"
  76.
  77. "C-Can I maybe... Sleep in your bed too?"
  78.
  79. "...Sure." Said Lynn as she scooted towards the wall to let Lucy in.
  80.
  81. Lucy hopped into the bed setting her pillow next to Lynn's.
  82.
  83. "Want to tell me now?"
  84.
  85. "I-I was doing my tarot cards, and I pulled the card of death... I thought I was going to do die."
  86.
  87. Hearing her story, Lynn couldn't help but smack her sister on her head before pulling her in close.
  88.
  89. "You idiot... You're not going to die; not on my watch."
  90.
  91. Lucy chuckled; she thought if death was to take her in her sleep, at least she was cuddling close with her beloved sibling. Finally feeling comfort in Lynn's embrace, Lucy was finally able to find rest.
