  1. GAB FAQ
  2.
  3. 1 What is that ratio for profile pictures?
  4.
  5. A: Please use a 1:1 ratio with a 4mb max size for profile pictures
  6.
  7. 2 When will there be a mobile app?
  8.
  9. A: This is a top priority for the Gab team. We are expecting a mobile app to be ready in a few weeks. In the meantime mobile users can access www.gab.ai through their smartphone web browser. iOS users can add Gab to their homescreen using Safari’s “Add to homescreen” share option. This will enable Gabbers to have more easy access to the site from their phones. We thank everyone for their patience while we work on building this app for you.

  11. 3 What is Gab?
  12.
  13. A: Gab is a people-powered social network. Our mission is to put people first and promote free speech for all. At Gab we believe that the only appropriate form of censorship should be self-censorship and it is our mission to create an environment where users are not afraid to share their opinion for fear of being banned or harassed. Gab is a community where you can engage in diplomatic discourse. For more information, please see our community guidelines page.
  14.
  15. 4 What do the up/down arrows mean/do next to each post I see?
  16.
  17. A: The up/down arrows next to each post on Gab are a way that Gabbers can voice their like or dislike of a specific post. For every upvote that a Post receives, that Gabber will receive points that are displayed next to a frog icon on their profile page. If a post gets enough upvotes it will be featured on the “popular” tab of the site.
  18.
  19. 5 How do I turn off email notifications?
  20.
  21. A: Email notifications can be turned off by clicking on your profile and then on the settings button. From here, scroll to the bottom of the page and there should be an option to uncheck email notifications for new followers, mentions, likes, or posts. Make sure you hit “save changes” when you are done.
  22.
  23.
  24. 6 How do I get verified (a blue checkmark?)
  25.
  26. A: At Gab we do not believe in using verification as a form of promoting celebrities or “popular” users. We use verification as a form of verifying identities. Currently, users can be verified if they use their actual name as their Gab name, or if they represent a brand or product. Right now the process is on hold as due to the high demand, the Gab team is working on streamlining the process to make it easier for users, and also to make sure that the process is accurate and keeps the safety of user data in mind.
  27.
  28. 7 How do I see more of, or expand a conversation?
  29.
  30. A: To see more of a conversation click on the timestamp in the bottom right-hand corner of the post. For example, if you posted something a minute ago it should say in the bottom right hand corner “a minute ago.” Click this and it should give you the option to “expand conversation.”
  31.
  32. 8 When will my friends get their invite to GAB?
  33.
  34. A: As of 8/21/2016 our waiting list is at approximately 10,000 requests and growing rapidly by the hour. People who sign up using an academic account (ending in .edu for .ac.uk) can bypass the waiting list and receive their invitation early.
  35.
  36. 9. Is this an alt-right or conservative only social network?
  37.
  38. A: At Gab, we welcome all people who wish to speak freely online and have the tools to create their own experience. Many conservatives have experienced censorship of their ideas and opinions online, which has made Gab an attractive alternative. The Gab team is actively working to invite users of all political backgrounds and from all walks of life. We welcome anyone who wishes to speak freely and have open, honest, and thoughtful discourse online.
  39.
  40. 10. How can I upload photos?
  41.
  42. A: We are currently still building out this feature, for right now the community is using image hosting websites such as imgur.com or sli.mg to share images.
