  1. An opportunity by RedLetterMedia regarding you and Gameception
  2.
  3.
  4. Mike Stoklasa <mikeredlettermedia@gmail.com>
  5.
  6. to rhoranproducti.
  7. Dear Mister Latza,
  8.
  9. My name is Mike Stoklasa. I am the founder and CEO of RedLetterMedia, a video and film production company. My company is best known for our 70 minute long review of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, which has millions of views on YouTube. For the past year, due to our constant growth, we have been experimenting with video game related content, most noticeably our show Previously-Recorded (Pre-Rec).
  10.
  11. Currently, we are looking for individuals to join RedLetterMedia, particularly regarding the video game department. Only two of our employees are very knowledgeable about video games, so we hope to recruit new people to join our team and help us create better content.
  12.
  13. Your channel Gameception has come to our attention, and it seems that you are a great fit for our company. That is why you have been selected to audition for RedLetterMedia.
  14.
  15. Joining RedLetterMedia will not only help you with exposure for your personal endeavors such as Gameception (which we do NOT prohibit you from pursuing, unlike some other internet video companies), but also comes with a paycheck.
  16.
  17. If you are interested in joining RedLetterMedia, please make a video in which you tell a bit about yourself, your past projects regarding video production and video games, your current pursuits, and your future plans. We have no specific prerequisites; we just want to know more about you. In the same video, include a 5-10 minute video review of a video game of your choice in your own style (you do not need to mimick ours!).
  18.
  19. We hope that we can welcome you into our team in the near future!
  20.
  21. Additional information:
  22.
  23. This is a closed audition, which means that we do not accept open submissions, and only those that were approached by our team are eligible. Please do not UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE refer to this audition process on social media such as Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, as this will most likely attract very unwanted attention. Contact us ONLY using this email adres (mikeredlettermedia@gmail.com), otherwise your messages might be entirely lost, or we will possibly even need to withdraw this audition offer. This might seem harsh, but is essential for the way RedLetterMedia is currently functioning.
  24.
  25. Also, we are interested in your film "My Date With A Secret Agent". If you would be able to email me your screenplay, RedLetterMedia might be able to help you out with producing your movie, now that we are almost done editing our latest upcoming feature film "Space Cop". This offer still stands if you would choose to decline the audition.
  26.
  27. Best of luck,
  28.

  40. Hello Mike,
  41.
  42. This is Paul, the host of Gameception.
  43.
  44. I am writing to you regarding your recent offer for me to join RedLetterMedia.
  45.
  46. I have been the target of many trolls recently, and would like to confirm that this offer is legitimate.
  47.
  48. Please write me back.

  59. Dear Paul,
  60.
  61. It's very unfortunate to hear you are dealing with trolls. Those people are terrible and are most likely just jealous of you. If you think I would be able to help you with dealing with them, please let me know.
  62.
  63. I'm not sure how to confirm the legitimacy of the offer. With this email I've enclosed an unpublished promo picture for another one of my reviews that refers to a scene in an earlier review. The promo image features the prop that can be seen at 6:38 in the following video:
  64. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZG1AWVLnl48
  65.
  66. It went unused because, as you can see, it's not a very exciting picture. I hope this picture and my possession of it can prove to you that I am indeed who I claim to be.
  67.
  68. Good luck with the trolls. Don't let them get to you.
  69.
  70. I look forward to viewing your audition video and reading your screenplay.

  80. PS: Paul, in case you are not interested, please do reply. This would make things a lot easier for our company administratively.

  91. Mike,
  92.
  93. I'm sorry.
  94.
  95. I am interested. I was just waiting to reply until I finished my video submission.
  96.
  97. Is there a deadline that you need it by?

  104. to Paul
  105. Hey Paul,
  106.
  107. I should have been more clear about that. It would be really nice to have your video by next wednesday. (Every wednesday is a key day at RLM, that's when we have our large live stream and finish our latest videos) If this is too short of a time for you, please let me know. From what I've heard you're a fast editor, so I hope you can make it work.
  108.
  109. Also, could you email me your screenplay for "My Date with a Secret Agent"? I would really like to read it, and maybe we could talk about it when I've received your audition video.
  110.
  111. Bye,
  112.

  119. to Paul
  120. Ofcourse if you don't want to send me your screenpkay that's okay too. It has no effect on your auditioning process. However, it might help you get the film made quicker.

  124.
  125. Mike,
  126.
  127. At this time, I don't feel comfortable sending out my entire script. Perhaps later.
  128.
  129. However, I would still like to audition for your site.
  130.
  131.

  133.
  134. By the way, how did you discover Gameception?

  139.
  140. to Paul
  141. My friend Rich Evans (who is also a RedLetterMedia employee) told me about your show when I suggested we should expand our video game related material. He watches a lot of Let's Plays and such, and must have discovered your channel that way.

  145.
  146.
  147. to Paul
  148. Hey Paul,
  149.
  150. Since it was on such a short notice, I just wanted to check in and ask if you think you can make the wednesday deadline with how things are going right now.
  151.
  152. Good luck,
  153.
  154. Mike
  155.
  156.
  157. Paul Latza
  158.
  159. Mike,
  160.
  161. I actually just finished a video game themed video a few weeks ago. It isn't released yet.
  162.
  163. I would just have to record myself doing an intro and I can use it for the audition video.
  164.
  165. Chances are looking good that I can do it by Wednesday.
  166.
  167.
  168.
  169. Mike Stoklasa <mikeredlettermedia@gmail.com>
  170.
  171. to Paul
  172. Great!

  176.
  177. to Paul
  178. Hey Paul,
  179.
  180. Sorry to bother you again, but I noticed you lived in Chicago. We are located in Milwaukee, so I wanted to ask you if you might be interested in driving down here on wednesday to tag along while we do our live stream. We will reimburse your food and gas costs.
  181.
  182. If you are interested, we are located at 6110 S Howell Ave, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
  183.
  184.
  185. from: Paul Latza
  186.
  187. Hi Mike,
  188.
  189. What time is the stream? I have (REDACTED - Jen) at (REDACTED - Jen) on Wednesday evenings.
  190.
  191.
  192.
  193. Mike Stoklasa <mikeredlettermedia@gmail.com>
  194.
  195. to Paul
  196. We start around 7:30 pm. The end of the stream depends on the occasion (number of viewers and how tired we are).
  197.
  198. If you can't make that, feel free to drop by earlier on wednesday. Please let us now around which time we can expect you if you do, though.
  199.
  200. However, if wednesday doesn't work for you entirely, we also do a stream on sunday at the same time.
  201.
  202. Also, please send us the audition tape digitally (preferably through a "hidden" youtube video (we have a company policy about not downloading files sent to us by outsiders (a lot of people send us phishing and such). I trust you, but I have to remain consistent with company policy)); please don't take the video with you if you visit us, since viewing an audition together with the person who is auditioning can be very awkward. Please send us the video before you visit. That way we can take a look at it before you arrive, and we might already find a good position for you to explore at RedLetterMedia and can prepare you for that position when you are here. If you have become interested in sharing your screenplay with us, feel free to send me that too! That way, we have some time to read it and me and my colleague Jay Bauman could help you sketch out some ideas regarding production when you visit us, and maybe even refer you to some people who could help you with the film.
  203.
  204. Good luck with your improv class,
  205.
  206. Mike
  207.

  211. to Paul
  212. Actually, emailing your audition as a file is fine too; I can break company policy for that.
  213.
  214. Do what you prefer.
