  1. Hey, MatPat, since you guys have an open slot for another long-running, choice-based game with the Butterfly Effect motif for your livestream, then I’m gonna repost this to this video, because I got a very interesting game for you to play…
  2.
  3. It’s called “999: Nine Hours Nine Persons Nine Doors” and I know it sounds silly but it’s really good. Full title is “Zero Escape Volume 1: Nine Hours Nine Persons Nine Doors” (there’s more games to it) and it’s about 9 people trapped in what seems to be a ship [that looks eerily like the Titanic], and they have 9 hours to escape through sets of numbered doors labelled 1-9 before the ship sinks. All 9 people are labelled 1-9 as well, and they must split into groups based on Digital Roots to go through. Break any rules = you explode. Here’s a spoiler-free overview/review I suggest you read http://www.ign.com/articles/2010/12/17/999-9-hours-9-persons-9-doors-review

  5. And here’s a spoiler-free video explaining how unique the series is: https://youtu.be/2NF8TXOYud0

  7. These games are criminally underrated and needs some very popular exposure, which your lifestream provides. With a 3rd game FINALLY coming soon, now is the best time to play the game and for the series to grow in popularity to show the developers that these games are really good.
  8.
  9. I do emphasize the spoiler-free part though, since the plot and all it’s twists are the real selling point for this game and what made it one of my favorites. It does what Undertale did by the end of that game, but much earlier (in 2010) and much better (imo). My brief description of the game is completely misleading to the game’s true nature. Think of it as Christopher Nolan [to the tune of anything not Batman] making a Saw video game. But with humor. Like good humor. And a super clever story that makes too much sense within context and completely crazy out of it. And filled with mind-boggling puzzles that use science and logic, so pretty much right up your alley. And these games even have Game Theory (the thought experiments, not your channel), especially in the sequel.

  11. I do have to clarify a few things. You said in the second-to-last LiS video that it (and in conjunction Until Dawn) tends to use the illusion of choice, so while it may diverge from other playthroughs at some points, they all converge in every scene so the plot moves forward the same way. But, while not all choices matter, the ones that do in 999 actually have such an impact on the game that, after making your first major choice, only 2 “scenes/scenarios” are ever repeated in multiple playthroughs (about half an hour each scenario).
  12.
  13. Another emphasis on this is multiple playthroughs, because this game has multiple endings. 6 in fact! 3 “good” endings and 3 “bad” endings. Playing the game once will NEVER give you enough information to complete the story, and to get the FULL story and experience, you need to get all 6 endings. First playthrough is around 10 hours long (depending on puzzle solving skills), but every other one after is shorter because you can skip old text you’ve read before. Ultimately below 30 hours to get all 6 endings.
  14.
  15. It’s best to get all 3 “bad” endings before getting any of the “good” endings, so, in order to do that, here’s some tips:
  16.
  17. 1. If you choose to go through Door #4, don’t choose to go through Door #7 afterwards.
  18. 2. If you choose Door #5, don’t choose Door #8.
  19.
  20. Additionally: if ever given the choice, don’t choose Door #2, since it’s directly placed after Door #3, which you are free to choose (this is to avoid repeating endings by accident).
  21.
  22. If you think it’s too daunting, try the sequel, which has 20-39 endings (depending on how you play it).
  23.
  24. This game might not have the words “Butterfly Effect” shoved to your face every hour or so, but it’s presence is still there. I just hope that this series gets a chance to shine in popularity and high sales before the grand trilogy concludes with its last game (unless fans demand more, of course). I know you’re gonna love this sci-fi horror novel and it’s genius storytelling craft. Just be aware that it’s best played on the DS; the iOS remake sucks and playing on an emulator doesn’t give you the same mindf*** effect for it’s final twist/puzzle as the handheld does.
  25.
  26. But please do it! Pretty please!!
