  1. I am passionately driven to pursue technology to affect peoples lives and through my study and research in Computer Science. I am particularly interested in Human Computer Interaction and Affective Computing as umbrella domains under which I would seek to engage in research and development.
  2. Emotion is fundamental to human experience, influencing cognition, perception, and everyday tasks such as learning, communication, and even rational decision-making. However, technologists have largely ignored emotion and created an often frustrating experience for people, in part because affect has been misunderstood and hard to measure. I aim to restore a proper balance between emotion and cognition in the design of technologies for addressing human needs. I am currently a co-researcher at IIIT-Hyderabad pursuing
  3. I am of the firm opinion that education is not just in places or learning or books. I see the people around me as an integral part of my education. I see my forth coming association with diverse student intellectuals selected as part of this program as another level of personal edification that I seek to do.
  4. That I am already a student associated with IIIT-H, India's premier institute that partakes razor sharp focus on cutting edge research in Computer Science, I see an opportunity to continue the research that I will get as part of the S N Bose program into my academic framework after the duration of the program.
  5. Given an opportunity, I will like to take up research in Affective Computing and Immersion Media, fields which do not have a lot of growth in India.
  6. My aim to apply for S N Bose Program is further driven by my desire to work under professor Dr Bilge Multu of University of Wisconsin Madison who pioneers in HCI and Affective Computing. Opportunity to work under Dr Multu would be a landmark experience for me to gain insight into field into which I have so much curiosity but very little work.
  7. That I am a transdisciplinary student doing Computer Science and Humanities, I see a lot to gain by visting United States to get understanding of people, culture, arts and their perception in general.
  8. Though I will be a researcher in Computer Science, I see my stay at United states a much larger and a cohesive experience that shall not only enrich my CV but nurture and mature my thoughts to enable me to be a better thinker, doer and believer.
