  1. Ookami Lore:
  2.
  3. There are four general social categories of Ookami:
  4.
  5. 1: Feral Ookami
  6. Feral Ookami typically live within packs, and their packs tend to be highly communal. They deliberately avoid cities and other races most of the time. However, their actual degree of animalistic tenancies varies, with some packs fairly ‘civilized’ while sticking to the wild, with others hardly distinguishable from wild animals. These are usually second or later generation Ookami, or ones transformed by Asena as small children, rather than ones who were transformed later in life. They mostly hunt for their food, most rarely, if ever, taking part in outside trade.
  7.
  8. 2: City Ookami
  9. Ookami which mostly stick to the city, living there instead of in the wild. They have adapted to human civilization and live mostly as normal citizens, although many face discrimination depending on where they live. Most fight back against the discrimination, holding to their Ookami pride. They also retain some animalistic behaviors, although not nearly to the degree of feral Ookami. Many band together in packs, although to a much lesser degree than other Ookami, and their packs tend to be smaller. Many group together into small, pack like groups without official pack names. Most first-generation Ookami fall into this category.
  10.
  11. 3: Hybrid
  12. Ookami which fall inbetween the two previous categories. They greatly enjoy the wilds and spend much time there, but they also often interact with other races, and within cities. They may live in the wilds and often visit cities, or live within cities and spend much time within the wilds. Most are within packs. They often hunt, and enjoy doing it, but they will also trade for food. Their animalistic/feral tenancies fall between those of the two previous categories. Their packs often work together as mercenaries.
  13.
  14. 4: The ‘Rejects’
  15. These Ookami, virtually all city Ookami, all but completely reject their Ookami pride and traits. While even an Ookami who lives their entire life within a city will often have a strong sense of racial pride and loyalty, some have neither. These Ookami refuse to defend their racial heritage, allowing others to freely insult their race and themselves with no resistance whatsoever regardless of the situation. They often lack the loyalty other Ookami have. Many willingly act like ‘dogs’, allowing themselves to be made ‘pets’ by humans, and have no problem wearing a collar. All other Ookami see these as ‘species traitors’, and vilify them more than any other. While virtually all Ookami are highly reluctant to take the life of another of their species in most cases, many make exceptions for these Ookami, denying them of their race.
  16.
  17. Part Ookami:
  18. Those who are ½ or less Ookami may retain some Ookami aesthetic features. This usually includes Ookami fangs and claws, often less pronounced than those of full Ookami. Tails and ears are possible, but rare. However, they often lack the other traits of Ookami. Ookami superior hearing is directly tied to Ookami ears. Many lack Ookami racial identity, especially if their visual traits aren’t highly distinguished.
  19. Those over one half, but not full Ookami may or may not have Ookami personality traits. Tails and ears are more common, but not absolute. They are more likely to have an Ookami racial identity, but not all have one, especially if they are more human in appearance and behavior. They are, however, seen as inferior to a full Ookami by most full Ookami.
  20.
  21. Rarely, due to Ookami-ism being a curse, a child of two non-full Ookami will be full Ookami in every way, will full traits. They will possess Ookami strength and agility, which is void in any non-full Ookami (racial tree). This can occur in there have ever been any Ookami in one’s bloodline, even if it’s been so diluted that noticeable Ookami traits no longer appear in other children. While part-Ookami often aren’t fully accepted as Ookami by most full Ookami (although seen as better than other races), these Ookami are believed by many Ookami to have been blessed by Asena herself in the womb, to the extent that they are just as accepted as any other Ookami.
