  19. 2. PRIORITY DISCUSSION ON NCO NET:
  20.
  21. Influential Leaders; Take a minute and think about a leader whose personal example inspired you. What is it about them that influenced you and how did it help shape the leader that you have become today? If you are like me, reading these stories will evoke in you a desire to lead in a way that is worthy of a story yet to be told. (http://go.usa.gov/XxM) https://forums.army.mil/CommunityBrowser.aspx?id=1592394&lang=en-US
  22.
  23. 3. NEW DISCUSSIONS/RFI's ON NCO NET:
  24.
  25. a. MILPER MESSAGE; I need the milper message that deals with leave followed by a four day? I know you cannot have a four day and then take leave or vise versa just need the documentation to back me on this. (http://go.usa.gov/I2M) https://forums.army.mil/CommunityBrowser.aspx?id=1604063&lang=en-US
  26.
  27. b. Measuring a 2-Mile Course; How do you properly measure a 2 mile course? According to TC 3-22.20 it does not state how a 2mile course is measured. I was told that you take the measuring wheel and make sure that you run it in the center of the road for 2 miles. I was told by another Soldier that you take the wheel and get as close to the inner edge of the road and measure the 2miles. Just trying to figure out what would be the proper guidance on this? (http://go.usa.gov/I2e) https://forums.army.mil/CommunityBrowser.aspx?id=1604167&lang=en-US
  28.
  29. c. Classes; Does anyone have a class on Movement under Fire?  If so could I please get a copy of it. (http://go.usa.gov/I2z) https://forums.army.mil/CommunityBrowser.aspx?id=1605022&lang=en-US
  30.
  31. d. OCO BAH; I am seeking clarification on BAH type I entitlements for soldiers on title 32 orders in support of OCO. I have researched the JFTR on this subject and based on the guidance in the JFTR CH 10 U10428F item 8 I requested BAH type I for the soldiers in question. The finance office is telling me that "Title 32 orders are not covered under JFTR U10014, JFTR U10428-B, or JFTR U410428-D2" and that even though the orders say OCO (the TDC also indicates OCO) that because the orders are title 32 the rule does not apply since the T10 mobilization orders specifically contain the line "ISO OEF/OIF/New Dawn/Noble Eagle/etc." Whereas the train-up orders/PTAE orders/etc. do not (though they do say OCO training). Can anyone help clarify this. I cannot find any regulatory backup for what finance is telling me, and I do not think that the justification that it has always been this way is sufficient to deny an entitlement. (http://go.usa.gov/I2u) https://forums.army.mil/CommunityBrowser.aspx?id=1605552&lang=en-US
  32.
  33. e. TARP Training; Does anyone know where I can find Threat Awareness and Reporting Program (TARP) online training? (http://go.usa.gov/I2J) https://forums.army.mil/CommunityBrowser.aspx?id=1605604&lang=en-US
  34.
  35. f. Can the Army Leadership Help Solve the Problem? Oakley - US Standard Issue has for many years required a photocopy of the ID Card (See attachment for screen shot) to register members for access to the great military discounts that they offer.  This site was once included on a page here on AKO that provided links to many businesses that offered military rates or discounts.  I am unable to locate that discount site on AKO anymore as it has been years since I first found it. Many of us have utilized this site and Oakley is a major provider of quality eye protection for personnel in theatre at a highly discounted rate through US Standard Issue.  My question is: Can Army Leadership (G-2 in particular) contact them and let them know that their process is a violation of US Code and try to develop an alternate method that allows Soldiers to continue to receive the great benefit that the company is providing in appreciation of our service? 37. g. Saluting; We were having a simple discussion about saluting with one of my officers, and he brought up that if we were walking together walking toward another officer of the same rank, that me as an NCO should salute the approaching officer as a sign of respect. I have no problem with saluting officers, but when I came into the army, I was told that if walking or in the presence of an officer of equal or higher rank that I will not have to salute the incoming officer. After a brief discussion was held over this, I started to look for policy covering this. I could not find anything covering this exact situation. Which begs two questions to be asked...Why? and how come we don't have just one NCO Standard Rule book(that covers everything that is currently a "gray area")? 38.
  39. h. Conus Replacement Center in Ft. Benning, GA; I am PCSing in January to go to Egypt for one year.  Prior to going I must go through a series of on-line classes at the CRC in Ft. Benning.  I am trying to locate the most current checklist of classes that need to be completed prior to going.  I have searched on Ft. Benning's website, but could not find any help there.  If anyone knows a link or a person to contact for help, it would be greatly appreciated. 49.
  50. 6.  ARMY ENTERPRISE EMAIL MIGRATION; HOW IT WILL AFFECT ARMY PROFESSIONAL FORUMS.  As announced by AKO, during 2011 Army email users will transition to an Enterprise Email service managed by the Defense Information Systems Agency. This migration will involve a change in everyone's army.mil e-mail address.  Although when your address changes you will continue to receive e-mail addressed to your old address for at least a year, it's recommended you advise friends and coworkers to begin using the new e-mail address within that time period. This change of e-mail address (if you don't update your address on NCO NET) will eventually affect your ability to log on to NCO NET, and to receive NCO NET newsletter like this one.  An announcement has been placed on the front page of NCO NET that provides a direct link to your profile, and encourages you to update your profile when you receive your new e-mail address. Just as a reminder, you must use your AKO/Enterprise military e-mail address for Army Professional Forums.  Visit the following link on AKO for more information on the Enterprise Email Migration.
